i know that north carolina has improved this year since illinois played them, but there is no justification for them being seeded ahead of the illini. illinois won at north carolina. they took the same position (second) in a conference with a higher rpi. they had a better record than unc. bulls***.

plain and simple, illinois got f***ed.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) Shocking to see the Bears lose out for being cheap. i don't totally agree with this. last year the bears had a clear need at wide receiver and went out and shelled out good money for muhammed. the year before that they shelled out pretty good coin for tait and t.j. going back to bryan cox the bears have ponied up for some free agents who were considered high-priced at the time. their problem has been shelling out big cash to the "right" guys. now, i will admit that the bears have not had a year where they just shot their load and appeared to be "going for it." but, teams that have done that lately don't have a whole helluva lot to show for it.

QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) that last statement about a #1 if they win the tourney is laughable especially since it is a proven fact that the winner gets no added seed benefit if osu makes the finals i think that would at least give them a shot at a no. 1. probably either memphis or texas or both would have to stumble in their conference tournaments for the buckeyes to get a top-seed, though. -
i'm in.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) No disrespect to the Iowa fans here, but I'm more nervous about a 3rd game with MSU on a neutral floor than I am a 3rd game with Iowa on a neutral floor. Part of it is the beating a team 3 times thing, but I'm just afraid Izzo could have that MSU team playing well at any moment, and their 3 stars scare the hell out of me. MSU also could give us issues if they ever figure out Drew Neitzel can't guard Dee Brown (although he really can't do much period). agreed. i'm not wild about potentially playing them again so soon. that said, we have played them well this year, so you have to be at least a little confident in the match-up. it would be a damn good game, though. -
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 11:41 PM) According to the Sunday Tribune, the Sox have invited ex-Pirates bust outfielder J.J. Davis to minor-league camp. are you screwing around with the time machine again?

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) Ouch, that seems out of place to me. I didn't think that their schedule/wins were that impressive, but I guess that's what the #1 conference does for you. Some of the numbers in the RPI don't make a lot of sense to me, which is why I typically don't pay too much attention to them. 3 of them are obviously locks, but I think it'll depend on who does what in the conference tourneys for the last spot. There doesn't seem to be a gimme pick for the 4th one. you are correct, osu did not have a great non-con schedule. it was pathetic actually. their only real quality non-con win was a home w over lsu. -
heads, i am hearing the same here in the big OH. i posted two links over on the recruiting thread. fears would be a heckuva get for the cyclones.
-
this could be of interest to heads and any other iowa state fans we have here. looks like a player we talked about earlier, point guard jeremy fears (formerly of ohio u), is seriously considering if not already committed to transferring to isu. fears was ranked as one of the top-10 point guards in the nation by jay bilas prior to the season. last year he led ohio to a tournament berth and near first-round upset of florida. however, he struggled to adjust to ou's slower tempo this year and fell out of favor with ou's coach. here are some links: chicagohoops.com hoopfactor.com (scroll past waters' story)

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 05:42 PM) Are you implying Paula Abdul was on 'roids? no, but her mole was. -
i've seen o.j. twice. i would describe him as more of a combo guard than point probably. he does normally bring the ball upcourt, but they do have other guys who do from time to time. he scores a lot, and will probably be asked to shoulder more of a scoring burden since ellis got kicked off the team. really, though, i think he could be a pure point guard or a two guard and do either equally well.

props to james augustine tonight. he gets a fair amount of criticism for not playing up to his potential, but tonight he played the type of game that he's capable of.
