  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 04:15 AM) Why would Alford prefer to go to Mizzu? I don't get it. He must realize he's on the hot seat in Iowa and if he can land a gig elsewhere its more money and at least a few more guaranteed years. i would say that's a pretty good assessment. to me it is a lateral move, but in missouri he at least is starting fresh and probably buys himself a few more years in a rebuilding program. plus, he probably knows the state pretty well from his time at se mo, so maybe he sees something there he doesn't see at iowa. i do wonder if bowlsby has told him he is not getting a contract extension. if he doesn't get one this year, i doubt he ever will.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 02:50 AM) I plan on getting a tattoo this summer and I have a few questions. First off, a lot of older people tell me not to do it because you'll regret it later on. Unfortunately, no one chose to elaborate. Is this true? Second, I am not sure of the placement of the tattoo. I want to go either on the right shoulder or on the back of the right shoulder. Then I was considering the inside of my forearm. Suggestions? Basically, this is the tattoo: http://www.jura.kg.ac.yu/Rc/emil/Jubilej/s...0do%20kaira.jpg but with "Slavko" or "Bog Cuva Srbe" in Cyrillic underneath it. The main thing is, I don't want it to be too big but I also don't want it to be my entire arm. Another thing I want to know is the healing process. Will it take a long time? Are my actions limited? (Baseball?) And finally, I would like to know the cost range of a tatto like this. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. ok, let me take a shot. i have two tattoos, one on my left shoulder and the other on my right bicep. i have never once regretted getting them. that's just me, others may feel different. i think your choice of a tattoo is pretty good. it obviously carries some personal meaning for you. that is important. once i decided i wanted a tattoo i waited two years to get one. during that time i went through a fair amount of ideas before settling on an idea. that was a good idea for me. in terms of placement, unless you are a biker my suggestion is to put it in a place where it is easily concealed. i don't know how old you are, but you don't want regret the placement down the line. personally i would say no on the forearm. the healing process takes about a week or so and you shouldn't be limited much. it will itch a lot, but don't scratch it. some people i know put preparation h on it, but i never did. neosporin and fragrance free moisturizer is all i used. i doubt it would ever effect your baseball. finally, in terms of cost it depends where you go. i would investigate this pretty deeply, because it is important. especially since the one you are getting is pretty detailed, it could easily be done sloppily. ask around a bit and ask to see examples of their work. my first tattoo i got done at some place around my house and it isn't great. my second one i got done by a guy who's done stuff for the lead singer from the bosstones, and that one is pretty good. cost will depend on size and how much, if any color you are using.
  3. worked great for me last night. i had to log-out and back in a few times, but i never had to wait more than minute and a half or so to get back in. pretty cool for a freebie.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 07:42 AM) Maybe the most encouraging part of the Illini win besides the supporting cast: 12 for 14 on free throws, despite the fact that none of the 14 free throws were attempted by Rich McBride, who is far and away the team leader in FT percentage. it was good to see the free throw shooting improve, no doubt. the bench play was very encouraging. if you told people that dee didn't take a shot in the second half and augie had only 10 points they'd probably tell you illinois got beat, maybe even badly. but jamar, carter and randle really stepped up offensively. even pruitt had a nice offensive game, but he didn't play as much due to match-ups. now the key is to maintain. this team has not responded to success well all year long. if there is any letdown against washington, this season will be over.
  5. you have to love the word "fracas."
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:20 AM) Tickets went on sale AFTER that first BP report of Prior having a sore shoulder. They've been on sale for a couple weeks now. That should be all the "Why" you need to know. yup. couldn't be more right. the cubs successfully fleeced their fans yet again. let's line up another attendance championship boys. woo-hoo. lol.
  7. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) thats a lie isnt conley odens friend? conley and oden will both start, im sure some players from ohio st are gonna go pro unless they really have the desire to try to win this thing next year conley and oden are friends as well as high school teammates. conley is good, but i don't see him starting. i would foresee this: C: oden PF: matt terwilliger, ivan harris or juco recruit hunter SF: ron lewis or daequan cook 2G: ron lewis or daequan cook PG: jamar butler butler will be the best point guard in the league next year so i can not see a circumstance where he cedes time to conley. i do think at times butler will slide over to the two-guard spot and conley will come in to play point. conley is a true point guard, so i can not see him spending time at the two, at least not next year.
  8. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) Thanks, good luck to the Illini as well. I agree that the Illini deserved a better thread as well, it's just unfortunate the committee was drunk that night and then passed the liquor to the women's side a night later. i think both committees might have been passing more than liquor around...
  9. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) Oden and Conley will be the best freshmen in the nation next season. i am not as sold on conley as i am on oden. conley will be a nice player, no doubt. i am not sure he will start, though, and i'm not sure he's better than fellow recruit daequan cook.
  10. oden is a bad mother(shutyourmouth).
  11. you got me on that one. i looked at the list a bit too quickly. it is fine though. for the record i have no antipathy toward unc. really respect them and their coach. they have done an unbelievable job this year and my intent wasn't to diminish their season. i just felt and still do that illinois deserved a higher seed than them. that's all. good luck to the heels in the tournament.
  12. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) This will be the one and only time you will see me defend UNC, but the breakdown between the two is actually pretty easy. -UNC won 8 in a row (including @ #1 Duke) going into the ACC tourney and beat Virginia in the tourney. -Illinois is 5-4 in their last 9 games and looked horrible in their opening round loss to Michigan State. Conference tournaments do count on the resume. I agree that I would favor the Illini's overall body of work opposed to UNC, but how you finish has always been a major factor with the committee, this year was no different. UNC also has also earned an elite reputation with the tournament, they will get the benefit in a close situation. i'm interested in your choice of a sampling size. you chose the past nine games. over that stretch, unc had a 6-3 record and illinois was 5-4. if you go to 10 games, both teams are 6-4. choosing a representative sample that just fits your argument isn't that sound. and let's look at those last 10 games. in their final 10 games unc beat two tournament teams. they beat nc state and duke. in their final 10 games illinois beat four tournament teams - michigan state, wisconsin, indiana and iowa. what is more impressive? so unc looked better in their tournament. one game better. they beat 15-14 virginia. illinois did not look great against michigan state, but who is better - msu or virginia. so the finish stronger argument isn't that great, imo. what about the whole season. illinois had more wins against the rpi top 50. they had a better record than the heels. they finished in the same league position in a league generally considered stronger. they beat unc AT unc. no way unc deserved a better seed. none. but that's it. it's quitting time and after today no more b****ing. wah.
  13. and the redskins don't stop. washington signs de andre carter, six years, 30 mill. nfl.com
  14. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) No, that's not what I'm saying at all.... I'm saying you can only look as far as your first opponent. Experts are basically giving the Illini a bye in the first round, that's more respect than Memphis is getting with Oral Roberts. There is no guarantee what team the Illini will play after that.... Having the tourney favorite in your region does not make this a bad draw, yes, UConn is in this region but who is to say they'll be around all tourney or for an eventual matchup with the Illini?? s***, they struggled with Louisville last week. It was pretty common knowlege that the Illini would drop to a 4 if they didnt fare well in the Big Ten tourney. Its too easy to compare seeds from other regions, but each seed and team has to be looked at seperately. Of course Tenn doesnt deserve a 2 seed, but that doesnt make the Illini more deserving. ok, skip tennessee. what is the plausible explanation for carolina getting a better seed than illinois in the same bracket?
  15. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) I love how all the Illini fans are whining today because of thier seed being in the same region as UConn, yet fail to realize they have the easiest 1st round oppenent outside of 16 seed in the whole tourney. It's March kids, take it one game at a time. my discontent has nothing to do with being in the same bracket as uconn. tennessee and north carolina's placement ahead of them in the same bracket is why i'm a little peeved.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 05:36 AM) Kurt Warrner,Bolid, Fitz and Edge...... Damn, AZ got to get some D and they could make some real noise. an offensive line would also be a plus.
  17. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) We got bent over. That is all. no vaseline.
  18. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 01:45 AM) Definitely a solid point on the first game, I'm just jumping ahead of myself. Honestly, at this point I'm seeing the teams I like and occasionally glossing over another pretty solid team in my haste (I totally forgot that Kansas plays Pitt in the second, and I'm already worrying about them playing Memphis ). I can't wait to see how this bracket plays out. It should be very interesting, as there seem to be a lot of strong teams. Honestly, I kind of wish the committee put a team or two in a different bracket to balance things out more. But with the Minneapolis region being so loaded and my personal belief that there are a lot of suspect teams in the Oakland region, it should definitely be an entertaining tournament. no doubt. this to me is one of the more interesting brackets. a lot of prospective final four teams here, although i don't know if there's a national champion in this bracket. that's cool, though. it is awesome to have the tournament back.
  19. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 01:16 AM) I think playing Georgetown in the second round could be an interesting game. The Hoyas have enough size to make life difficult for OSU in the paint on both ends, which is a major problem since OSU hasn't been hitting their 3's at a very high rate of late. i like georgetown a lot. and you are right, they have a pretty deep front line which will help against dials. at this point though i am not even totally sure g'town beats northern iowa.
  20. i like ohio state's chances in this bracket. not a team they can't beat.
  21. admittedly illinois has some winnable games ahead of them. opening with air force and potentially washington is not horrible. unc and tennessee being higher seeds in the same bracket just astounds me. i will say that if you are a uconn fan you have to be turning cartwheels right now. the biggest obstacle you have to the final four is a very flawed illinois team.
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) G Wash has to get by UNC Wilm. which will not happen.
