  1. God rest your soul Stormin' Norman. I listened to the Bulls on WIND radio when it was Norm, Sloan. Bob Love, Chet Walker, Tom Boerwinkle and Coach Dick Motta. Could never make it past the Lakers in the playoffs but some great teams. Enjoyed Norm on Comcast, his personality shined through kind of like a Bill Cosby type style who loved his music and basketball. Norm you will definitely be missed.
  2. A few hilights. Sox with 3 stolen bases, Beckham , Lillibridge and Brandon Allen. Kroeger and Lillibridge 2 hits, Corky Miller 3 hits , Miller and Betemit with the only extra base hits (doubles). Egbert, Carrasco, Broadway each pitched 2 innings without giving up any runs. Broadway paticularly impressive with 2 K and 4 GO's . Perhaps working on a splitter, sinker or cut fastball that dives ?
  3. Floyd, Carrasco, Egbert, Broadway, Nunez, German all scheduled to pitch today.
  4. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/scoreboard/20090226.html for those of you who want to see inning by inning score.
  5. OK was only a highlight show. Feel free to delete thread.
  6. Games 3 and 4 in the L.A. Coliseum both had over 92,000 in attendance.
  7. As old as I am I have never seen this before. It's even in color. Just saw Al smith get his beer shower.
  8. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 05:32 AM) The reason Thome didn't miss any time in '08 was because he needed his option for '09 to vest. $100 says he doesn't get 450 at-bats this year. He'll take a break in June or July. Geez, cynical aren't we ? Everything most of us have read about Thome is that he's a top notch individual, devoted husband ,son, and father. So you're adding con man to this list?
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 06:55 AM) Havlat's playing at the highest level of his career. His work on the boards last night was something spectacular to watch. I think Q needs to realize that Kane and Toews need to stay on the same line... Most of the replays showing Havlats work along the boards to set up the Bolland goal could have been expanded to another 30-45 seconds when Havlat had the puck skating all over the offensive zone avoiding defensemen then gave it up got it back then did the great job along the boards . That whole sequence was just so fun to see.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 07:42 AM) Yes, but then he came out and completely lied about what he took, why he took it and the frequency of when he took it. He's a filthy liar regardless of what the tests were about. I assume you smoke weed based on everything I see and hear from you . Have you admitted that you do to your parents? Have to told your younger siblings ? Your grandparents? Your employer ? Have they ever asked you and you said no ? I don''t expect you to answer these questions . They're just designed to draw a parallel on life situations where we feel a need to lie . I think we take these holier than thou attitudes and act like we've never done anything wrong or made huge mistakes with our lives. There's no age where humans stop making dumb mistakes. Underage drinking, doing drugs, cheating at a board game to win just to name some of the dumb things that most of us have done that we just gloss over and forget about when we start judging others. Then there's a lot worse things like drinking and driving and spousal abuse that are really dumb that often go unpunished because we don't get caught. I hear these reporters asking or remarking "gee Arod was 25, 26 , 27 yrs old when do stop saying your young and dumb" like we all automatically stop making mistakes when we get older. The Sosa , McGwire , Bonds, record shattering performances were all great fun and drama at the time they were happening. Maybe we're all better off being blissfully unaware.
  11. More from Cowley : Not only did Josh Fields have knee surgery in the fall, but told reporters that he also had LASIK surgery to improve his vision.
  12. 163 ranks right up there because its the most recent. Memories get foggy after a certain length of time . I was at the Disco demolition game but as unreal as that scene was, I can't recall every single detail. Game 5 against the Angels I remember well in 2005 because I was there, 1st pennant since 1959 ( I was around for that too though I was 1 1/2 rs. old at the time)and wrote a nice piece about it on Soxtalk. El Duque getting out of the jam against Red Sox that year because I was working listening to it on radio. All the moments surrounding last game of the World Series. Thome's walkoff 500th HR. Paulie's GS and Pods walk off from the World Series too. I know this isnt a White Sox moment but I was in Chicago visiting a friend and watching the World Series in 88 when Gibson hits his famous HR. I remember that better than any division championship s the Sox won though I do still have a Winning Ugly T shirt .
  13. Viciedo in camp. http://blogs.suntimes.com/whitesox/
  14. According to Coop right now he's operating under the assumption that neither Colon or Contreras will be ready opening day. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=cws
  15. And the video of the interview is here http://csnchicago.com/pages/main

  18. Don't know if it was mentioned but Ron Kittle has a Facebook page. You guys can add him as a friend. http://www.facebook.com/people/Ronald-D-Kittle/558137503
  19. Havlat with some magic moves that result in a Bolland goal giving the Hawks a 4-3 lead in the 3rd period against the Lightning. The Hawks had trailed 3-1. Stamkos with 1st career hat trick for TB. Kane finally scored the Hawks 3rd goal.
  20. More from Cowley: GLENDALE, Ariz. - The best exchange between a pitcher and catcher in Tuesday's bullpen sessions? Leave it to A.J. Pierzynski and Mark Buehrle to capture that honor. While Buehrle - never one to scare a radar gun - was throwing to Pierzynski, the catcher yelled to the southpaw, "I'm trying to break in a new glove,'' referring to the mid-80s fastball coming from Buehrle. Buehrle's response? "Well then you better catch someone else.'' Early reviews The one pitcher that looks like doo-doo so far, at least according to his manager? Octavio Dotel. But the right-handed reliever has an excuse. The plan for him was to come in and work on a changeup under the watchful eye of pitching coach Don Cooper. It's obviously a work in progress from the early reviews.
  21. Haven't seen it mentioned yet but Palehose 9 has had 3 strips in February so far. http://palehose9.blogspot.com/
  22. I have a really hard time judging ARod. Yes he admitted it but (and I hope I have my facts straight) many of the tests back then were taken to establish weather MLB actually had a steroid problem. There wasn't a list of banned substances or penalties for taking any of this stuff in baseball at the time ARod is admitting to taking steroids . So basically he wasn't doing anything forbidden. If I'm wrong someone give me dates of when MLB instituted a policy against steroids and when they started making lists of what substances were banned . I do believe he was guilty of trying to keep pace with his peers and did little wrong according to the rules established at that time.
  23. Overall impression is that he's being as honest as he can be. Basically he's saying he was just clueless, he had a neck injury and decided to stop. I would ask him what the real name of this "boley" is . Sounds short for bolic or anabolic. No ones asked him if he knows what is actually was yet.
