  1. BA infield single to short, Miller short fly out to right with Anderson going but he got back so no DP, Beckham with dunker down the right field line for a double, Anderson to 3rd , Alexei K's, Kershaw out might have tweaked something K'ing Alexei. RH James McDonald in to pitch , Q groundball in the hole, Furcal 1 hops it to first, Mantkiewicz with a good stretch and scoop for the out, no runs 2 hits
  2. There's certainly a clusterf*ck of suck in the OF. BA could solve the problem by just hitting but noooooo at least not yet. I'd happily wave so long to Owens and Wise (don't let the door hit you in the *ss on the way out). Let's see Kroeger play some games in CF. An Anderson/ Kroeger platoon could work. Lillibridge has a gaping hole in his swing so our 2 fastest guys couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat. You know Betamit and Stewart have backup spots almost assured. I seriously wish Beckham was ready . I'd push Alexei into CF and start Beckham at SS and we could actually see major league talent perform. Keep BA around just for defense and power off the bench. Alexei as the backup SS.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 05:27 PM) The Hawks can't afford 900k and still make it under the salary cap. We could not have made this trade. What do you think Pahlsson is making ? $1.4 mill. according to what I looked up. Besides aren't the salaries prorated for the remainder of the season so the Hawks would have been paying less than half of that. Maybe the Leafs didn't want to take on any salary since they took a draft pick. If that's the case I still think the Hawks could have given up a 2nd and 4th or 5th rounder to get a better younger player who would have more time to adjust to his team mates than will Pahlsson who has mono. According to NHLSCAP.com the Hawks had a max deadline addition of around $1.3 mill. and they also lost part of Craig Adams salary so they easily could have added Moore for draft picks. http://www.nhlscap.com/teamnumbers.htm But to be fair I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to figuring it all out . Wiz and Adams salary combined was 1.5 mill so that seemed to cover the 1.4 they picked up in Pahlsson salary. How the guy at NHLScap.com came up with 1.3 max deadline space is beyond me.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 02:37 PM) Wiz is not that great on the ice, but does stick up for teammates. I really wish we traded him for Moore though. Seriously Moore only netted a 2nd round pick. Blackhawks couldn't beat that for a guy who is making only 900K ? Sammy P. won't even be in the lineup for 2 weeks.
  5. Craig Adams was put on waivers and the Penguins picked him up. Funny video , Versteeg standing on his toes for team photo to look taller http://www.nbcchicago.com/sports/hockey/On...___Chicago.html
  6. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:07 AM) Hawks have picked up Dominic Moore Hasn't been confirned as of yet.
  7. The Hawks are near the bottom in overall faceoff percentage wins and the penalty kill hasn't been very effective the last month and a half. The Hawks will need to create cap space to try and solve both these problem areas. I still think the Hawks have a shot at Dominic Moore of Toronto.
  8. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) BTW Booby Mac said tonight on TSN again the Chicago is pushing very hard for Vermette. He is #1 on the list. He did not say it would cost us Barker. P Mac said Skille and wiz would probably get that deal done but CBJ's are pressing hard as well. Blue Jackets got him. Damn !
  9. Havlat wins it in OT with great individual effort. He's been showing lately just how good he really is. He's a UFA after the season and is already making $6 mill. I wonder what it will take to resign him. He made a lot of money while injured and sure would hate to see him go. He's been looking like a superstar.
  10. Hossa taken off the ice on a stretcher tonight so if he's seriously hurt Detroit could be a big presence at the deadline.
  11. Toronto might be willing to part with Dominic Moore who plays pretty good , wins faceoffs well and only makes 900K. Only problem is he's an UFA at the end of the year but if the deadline is looming and the Hawks can't work anything out for Vermette, who is signed through 2010 and makes slightly less than Buff , look for the Hawks to push for Moore.
  12. I wonder if Skille is involved in a trade scenario possibly for Vermette. Seems odd he was up for a short period of time then today sent back and a former Duck player brought up. I know Quenville would love a center who could win a faceoff. Moving Byfuglien would free up salary and seems Aaron Johnson is at peak value though hasn't been playing. Would the Hawks give up all 3 players for Vermette ? Ah forgot about Sopel , might try moving him and his $2 mill salary too.
  13. Hawks were up 2-0 after the 1st period on goals by Brouwer and Ladd. Brouwer's was a rebound and Ladd was a 3 on 1, Havlat with the nice pass. Kane would've had a goal if not for a whistle by the ref as the puck was dribbling through Gigueres pads. Would've put the Hawks up 3-0 early in the 2nd so of course Anaheim gets the next 2 goals. The 1st 1 on a bonehead attempt at handling the puck by Huet. He's been giving up juicy rebounds all game but playing fairly well making some big stops. Huet lookin shaky as Anaheim has dominated the 2nd so far.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 10:48 AM) I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but it is a set of the latest press packets for each of the MLB teams. This is the stuff that the broadcasters use to sound smart during a game. http://presspass.mlb.com/pp_teamselect.asp After reading todays game thread all I have to say is , Bill Melton don't need no steenkeeng press packets.
  15. Looks like if I put 3D glasses on Danks will be in my living room. Great job.
  16. QUOTE (Cubano @ Mar 1, 2009 -> 04:05 PM) This guy looked horrible today. He played 20 games in the D.R. winter league. He is ahead of many in camp that have not play a game during the winter. Guillen said after watching Viciedo one game that he needs to work on his defense. I want to see what he has to say about his super utility Betemit. Last year, Guillen said Fields was bad. Now, he is OK mysteriously. Owens is always the same. He is not young anymore. How about Lexei to CF and Beckman at SS? Fields and Viciedo make the team and start releasing players that have done nothing for years. What are the Sox going to do next year with Beckman and Alexei in SS? Are they going to move Alexei to another position in 2010? Do it now! Play the young guys now. The Sox will sell more tickets with the young guys than with the old guys. You may not win today, but in 2010 watch out with young guys with one year at the MLB level. I miss Uribe by watching Betemit today. Cubano your bias is showing. It's understandable you want your countryman to win the 3rd base job or that you feel Guillen is being a little harsh on Viciedo about his fielding and all of sudden Fields seems to be the front runner for the job. It's not so mysterious that Fields is being praised for being better now. He had physical problems last year. In the winter he had knee surgery and Lasik eye procedure. He showed up very early and worked very hard with Cora who said now that he is healthy he looks very much improved. I know many of the posters have led you to believe that Fields is being handed the 3rd base job but those same posters have also said that Beckham probably isn't ready for the Major Leagues. Myself , I think it's possible both Viciedo and Beckham can make the team if they have truly outstanding springs. The Sox signed Dayan for 4 years so I'm sure they want a return on their investment as soon as possible. Beckham is a few years older than Dayan and hasn't even had a season in AA ball. It's only truly rare talent that can be totally unknown one year and play in the Majors the next. Viciedo has a huge mountain to climb in that regard. Maybe Viciedo will be the outfielder to replace Dye or more likely left field if Quentin plays right. Where Beckham ends up playing is any ones guess. He could play SS though most scouts saw him as a future 2nd baseman or he could probably play 3rd too. Betemit is a known quantity who has shown to be a reliable and versatile backup, probably not a SS but certainly adequate at 3rd and 1st and possibly 2nd. It's very possible things will work out the way you want just not as soon as you want.
  17. QUOTE (R.J. @ Mar 1, 2009 -> 06:22 PM) This is such a useless story. I don't even blame it on the Tribune/White Sox relationship, this is just completely worthless reporting. Yea it's like you look at that story and go DUH !!! Los Angeles isn't that far from Phoenix so it makes sense that more southern californian's go there to vacation or retire. Would you expect more Chicagoans to see the Wisconsin Dells or Californians ??
  18. I was thinking about still having the score from yesterday on the 1st page, too because I looked after the Sox game today was over. It's not like I care much though. I can read plenty about the Sox here or in some of the best Sox blogs.
  19. This is from the Tribune online: GLENDALE, Ariz - The White Sox have replaced the U.S. Cellular Field out-of-town scoreboard with a more modern LED version that will be ready for the 2009 season. The new board will feature up-to-the-minute updates on each game, complete with a diamond listing runners on base and the current batter and pitcher. The scoreboard is similar to what's used at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.
  20. Ok the games over , no one is reading the game thread so I'll say it. Is it too early for the Rally Beckham ?
  21. He's giving up more today. But he's supposed to be working on a changeup .
  22. Patton replaced Cotts. Fields FO , Wise and Lillibridge GO . Dotel in.
  23. QUOTE (tommy @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) Marquez and Thornton have a no-no going. You jinxed it !
