2013 Cubs catch all thread
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 03:30 PM) I liked the original trade that was rumored much more where they were getting Sardinas and Ramirez. Grimm is garbage. And Edwards is a 40 something round draft pick that makes Gio Gonzales look like a big guy.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 02:55 PM) He said GM's actually like Peavy's deal more because of the extra year. This was surprising to him because he said he would rather go after the cheaper rental. He said Alex Rios is actually very well thought of around the league and one blip on the radar isnt going to affect him. He said Crain needs to pitch before somebody probably makes an offer for him. Cheaper monetarily but they gave up a player per month for him if they make the post season because of him. If not it's even more. Huge over pay. Yes envious that it couldn't be Peavy.

ARod suspended for entire 2014 season
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) MLB @MLB 3m "I realize now that I have made some mistakes. I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions." - Ryan Braun. "I wish to apologize to ... all of the baseball fans especially those in Milwaukee, the great Brewers organization, and my teammates."-Braun Bob Nightengale @BNightengale 44s This will be the most expensive drug suspension in baseball history with Braun losing rest of his salary Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 1m It’s effectively a 65-game suspension. That’s the number of games the #Brewers have remaining. Braun did not specify the mistakes he made. Getting caught.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 08:44 AM) Yeah, the market is very good right now for Peavy. I think we could get a top 50, considering at least three teams will be bidding after Garza moves. I keep hearing the D'backs arent in the mix for Peavy but Kevin Towers drafted him and they aren't in the upper echelon of NL teams. Peavy could be a difference maker there.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 07:57 AM) If you don't get what you want for Jake Peavy, you bring him back. You still have the winter to deal him, if that is what you decide you want to do. If nothing else, you still have jake Peavy. The Sox aren't often in a position where they are looking to trade one of the most in demand pitcher in a given market. The offers for him should be good enough to trade him. Strike while the iron is hot.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
I already said it wasn't going to happen so by workable I meant a trade with Tx. The only one I said I actually wanted was Adams. I also said that's what Boston probably would give up not that I want it. They're talking like they won't give up prospects but if they give any up they'll part with those 2. I like Iglesias because he's got a very good glove but no sense getting him while we still have Alexei. So your problems should be gone.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 06:58 PM) Don't overlook Texas as a landing spot for JFP...not sayin', just sayin'. I said all along a Peavy and Rios to Tx deal was what I was looking for but i wanted a boatload back . Profar and Martin but thats never going to happen but its very workable. Cards are workable but Adams is what I want. Lynn's been terrible lately . Bostons scraping the bottom of the barrel now and trying to pretend their pitching spects can perform well enough but I don't buy it. I think they'd part with Middlebrooks and/or Ingelsias who's performed well for them but MiL track record is no hit all field and they have a better SS prospect than him any way.

7/21 - Sox/Braves
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 12:18 PM) lol I love when Hawk trashes the haters That McGrath article he's talking about wasnt all that insulting to Hawk. Said his story about Marciano couldnt be verified, which is true unless you read between the lines and you think he's calling Hawk a liar. Said he was a bad GM which was pretty true. Said he's a HOF announcer based on longevity but homerism hurts his chances. Said hard to imagine Vin Scully wanting to punch out an opposing teams player like when Hawk wanted to with Padilla when he was 64. A bit snarky but not over the top.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 11:51 AM) Oh come on man, he's a catcher. Giving the catcher the 3rd game of a series off is generally the norm, and ought to be especially important for a guy with Phegley's health history. I didnt say it wasn't expected just hate seeing it.
-
7/21 - Sox/Braves
Hate to see Phegley with the day off after a 3/4 day and lefty out there .

7/21 - Sox/Braves
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 11:29 AM) Hopefully someone tries to make a play on Dunn Real tough market for Dunn. Yankees need hitting bad but they're trying to sort out the whole Jeter and A-rod situation so Trafner might be cut loose soon.

7/21 - Sox/Braves
Dunn has been impressive for a while now to the point he's even making good contact his last fews starts against lefties.

That's a white sox winner!
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 06:43 AM) Where have you come up with this? Appears to me there's less teams willing to part with prospects and take on salary. Even the Yankees are trying to be fiscally responsible though they have been replaced by the Dodgers as the big spenders of the days. Sox most likely won't deal within the division. Boston and Arizona are clinging to prospects. The Angels seem pretty quiet though they might be a team to spend money but have as bad a farm as the Sox. Giants farm is bad too. Braves farm is bleh. The best farms are Arizona, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, Red Sox, Cardinals and Rangers among the contenders. Everyone selling is pretty much targeting those teams. Getting anything significant from any team besides those 6 will be difficult. Nationals ,Yankees, and Dodgers after that. D'backs, TB , Orioles, and Pirates would all require the Sox to chip in more morey than the Sox probably want to. Yankees could use Dunn bad, Hafner is close to being released but the Yanks are dealing with A-Rod and what he might bring to the table. Cards seem pretty content with what they have though Peavy may be a guy they want. Some of those farm teams strength are pitching but the Sox are more likely looking for position talent. Peavy and Crain and Lindstrom probably will be easiest to move. Crain is hurt and Lindstrom won't get us much. Peavy is the one piece the Sox need to get a real good return from. After that its a crap shoot and we're either going to be disappointed with the returns we get or the lack of trades. I think we improve the odds of a better return with a blockbluster or 3 way trades and those are difficult to work out. Boston is loaded with upper level position talent and Hahn already traded Thorton to them but theyre hording those guys. Hoping they loosen up and lose a lot in the next week.

The hi8is Expret Trade Assessment
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 11:15 PM) Good perspective - it's hard for me not to become a prospect whore and want to start building from within while watching our beloved Sox flirt with a 100 loss season. Thanks for talking me off the ledge but the Trade Peole, Suck More!!! campaign rolls on. Just from a lower ledge or perhaps a view from a 2nd floor window.

Sox Will Sell; Everyone But Sale and Konerko on Block
QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 02:33 PM) Remember in 2007, the entire roster was up for grabs, but the Sox traded Iguchi and Mackowiak. I doubt a full on gutting of the roster takes place. I'm 100% sure a full gutting of the roster doesn't take place. In fact I'd be shocked if 4 key pieces are traded . My key pieces being Peavy, Santiago, Sale, Quintana, Danks. Rios, DeAza , Viciedo, Alexei, Beckham, Phegley,Crain, Reed, Jones ,Dunn ,Erik Johnson. Edited to add Johnson.

Why so quiet so far?
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:55 PM) We have about 6 guys that I think NEED to be traded in the next 10 days. We better be making at least 3 trades. What 6 are those ?

The hi8is Expret Trade Assessment
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:35 PM) My motto right now, so eloquently stated... Shall be a slogan for the next 11 days: "Trade People, Suck More!!!" Seriously. I want this team gutted with the likes of every Charolette fodder on the field losing as many games as humanly possible. For the first time I sincerely want this team to lose every possible game and have the worst record in baseball. Hell, I'm down to do it all again next year too. Stock up and plan for 2015 - Trade People, Suck More!!! The revolution has begun. /vomit And finally, for those long time soxtalkers wondering - no, I am not drinking again. Just insanely bored with this awful devil laden excuse for a season. I don't think the #1 draft pick will mean anything close to how any upcoming trades go. A draft pick will start in low A ball and start the long climb towards the top. The Sox are looking to get guys close to the top already far removed from the buses of A ball. I'm hoping the Sox go on a roll till the deadline upping everyones trade value as much as possible so we get as many talented pieces as possible. After that I hope whoever is left and who we got in trade kicks ass too. Upping their value for the off season or giving us hope they will produce next year.
