GT Elko back Tigers @ Sox 640 pm Shuster/Gipson-Long
Never cared much for framing stats. umps just miss too many calls to put much stock in it. If anyone wants to think that's because of catchers that's fine. There's too many pitches to think that Tigers pitching and bad umpiring gets thema lot of calls too. Their team WHIP is pretty low. So their guys don't walk that many and are close to the zone a lot.

So Sox fight back from a 4 run 1st inning deficit and the offense goes into a 3 inning coma after that.

Well turned it off to see the Oilers win in the last minute of OT on a PP goal. Missed the Tigers taking the lead.

He is 6' 4" or 5. He has long arms and he also can hit oppo. He's not strictly a pull hitter.

6/3 Games
Nice to see unheralded prospects doing well. He's like the Elko of pitchers except he wasn't as consistently good as Elko. Doesn't throw hard at all . Tops out at 90 I think. Just knows how to pitch , 4 pitch mix with command. Keeps guys off balance, induces soft contact.

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
Not really. The Reindorf's and Wirtz's are all in on the 1901 Project to make the area around the United Center a fan friendly extravaganza. That's where JRs money has been going .

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
He's willing. There's no doubt he's made changes. None are helping. He's taking walks more than he ever did before. That shows he's trying to be a better player because he knows if he swings at pitches in the zone, in theory, that will make you a better hitter. So he changed a few things to see pitches better. Unfortunately those things have not resulted in making better contact or getting more hits or driving the ball out of the park. Sometimes it takes a while like with Vargas. The Dodgers couldn't find the way to unleash him and he already had a good approach to hitting which should've made him easier to fix. Sox gave Elko the same mission. Be more selective , tighten up your zone, look for pitches you can drive and he responded well to it. We can never know why some players can be fix especially a guy who showed in 2023 how good he can be. Maybe the 2nd hip flexor injury affected his hitting more than his running. Running is more natural . Hitting is a complex series of movements based on eyesight and reflexes ( hand eye coordination). You have to stride and shift your weight from back to front and twist your body quickly . Has to be hard on your hips and back. We've seen how hitters can corkscrew themselves in a vicious swing and even fall down. Robert just never seems to just cut loose his swing unless it's hanging on the inside part of the plate. Everything else he just kind of throws his bat at. There's no viciousness or anger in his swing now. Is he even still capable of that 485 foot bomb he hit in the playoffs ?

Sox sign Altavilla
If you don't see signs of progress you aren't paying attention and that's in all areas. The problem is some believe that there's progress being made and some don't want to see it and don't have the patience for it. So what's happening now is just the countdown until the Sox get a new owner like it or not. Maybe 5 years from now we have a new owner and the infrastructure is in place and drafting and development is better and we have international prospects for once. It's possible. Jerry isn't spending money and nothing of significance can be accomplished except get the highest draft pick you can in 2026 which they are succeeding at so far. Do you honestly want them to win enough games this year to blow that ? No GM can just come out and say all that. So they spend a little more on veteran bums and preserve the service time of a few relief pitching arms in AA. As much as I was advocating for those young or even the mid 20s arms they will still be here and come up later when wins are more important than they are now.

It's a prorated $1M contract which means it's close to the minimum of $760K.

Are you even a Sox fan or a Cub fan here to gloat ? Meatball take as if coaches can make all poor hitters into good ones. You're just trolling at this point.
