  1. You can either take $170M or risk it all while you make $20M combined (maybe) in 2025 and 2026 and if you have a major injury in that time you lose a huge chunk of change .Not sure what his Arb salaries would have been for those 2 yrs. This is when smart players who don't get too greedy get out the scales and say yeah I'll take $170M right now thank you.
  2. Nah he still had 2 yrs to go before FA. The wheels can fall off very quickly. Largest deal ever for a pitcher with only a little over 4 years of service and quite a bit of it was injured.
  3. There it is . Not sure I'd call it reasonable . That's a lot guaranteed money for a guy with his injury history and not one complete MLB season. I'd call it a great deal for him though. I always knew he'd be smart to try to get a deal done as quick as possible.
  4. You can argue anything though with or without facts. I thought overall the SP and BP would both be better. I don't think it was wishful thinking either. Maybe a little since it is spring but I thought Burke, Martin had good potential, Cannon and Perez could be steady and then they got a Wild card who started to look great with Smith. Remains to be seen if they can consistently be what I thought . BP same thing. I liked some of the low-cost arms and I basically trust Bannister being given a long leash seeing guys he likes from the junk pile and spruce them up a little. Again always a crap shoot when working with those kind of arms but they really seemed to focus on giving up less walks and taking more walks offensively. That goes a long way towards scoring more runs if you run into one occasionally which is still their biggest problem.
  5. Really don't want to say too much here but something something about Brewers SP so either he gets lit up like a Christmas Tree or he does what you said. 1st thought was he gets lit up because recognizing fate type patterns but then he's not a Brewer no more so change of destiny ? Sometimes I like to delve into existential thoughts, without drugs too. 😉
  6. So he went to Pittsburgh. Here it comes Wait for it... Canario in a coal mine !! 😁
  7. Lol well I try not to count all the DFAs thrown around in game threads. Usually you get around 100 by the middle of April. 😉
  8. Also Perez needs more plaudits. Got a lot of Ks on the cutter and changeup. A couple on the sinker too. 10D 100th career HR. Vasil MLB debut right ? Good start. M.A.Taylor career HR 101 did I hear that right ?
  9. I knew I spelled it wrong as soon as I hit send lol.Normally I edit but said F it. Busy day selling digital movie codes while trying to watch game and eat lunch.
  10. Someone made a bet although looks like you waited too long to get it at 50 or whatever the best line was.
  11. Better defense, better pitching, better positioning . It's adding up to better play so far. New coaches early impact .Heck Vasil pitched Ok . Had a few extra days to work with Banny and Katz. Sox have turned a lot DPs.
  12. It's not over rating Burger it rating him a lot higher than Eder.
  13. Gonna call you Caulfield, Jr. if you keep talking about run differential. Sox will be on the wrong side of it when all is said and done this year. But maybe they can avoid monsterosly long losing streaks this year.
  14. Not the most recognizable Jacksons song. Had to actually listen to it for a minute to catch your drift. Can You Feel It !?!
  15. Ishbia buying more shares as we speak 🤫
  16. For everyone who was worried the SP and RP would be worse early indications are both maybe better. I won't take any victory laps yet but I did defend the pitchers early when Getz was assembling them . Might be different when the weather warms up and we see how the arms hold up. RP is a crapshoot every outing when dealing with scrap heap, although semi targeted , acquisitions.
  17. Easily could be 4-0 .Neither the SP nor RP has been bad. Hittings been a yo-yo 2 good 2 bad.
  18. Or he was targeted for 2 reasons, Cost and Bannister likes him. I know you don't like coaches acting as scouts but I'm giving Bannister a lot of leeway. The guy is a pitching scientist
  19. No fielder has to have a direct path to the ball. The runner has to make the adjustment just like he's out if he gets hit by a groundball or line drive.
  20. What the heck was Slater doing ? Umps don't make the call until later. Idiots all over the place lol. Takes a hit away from Lee. Do 1st base coaches not remind players that there are 2 outs so run on contact ?
  21. Damn Perez . NH and still no earned runs given up by white Sox starting pitching.
  22. Jankowski and Taylor saying FU to everybody 🤣
  23. It's beautiful if you appreciate defense but offensely it is pretty ugly .
  24. There was something Harold said about him forgetting game plans in a future Future Sox thread yesterday but that's unsubstantiated. I countered with it didn't seem to hurt Burke went he started game one and a lot of times how you pitch depends on situations. A lot of it is knowing hitters which is what the game plan is for but you use you gut a lot too with the game plan in mind .
