If JR would just let Marco Paddy do his job, he's one guy with a really good reputation but they concentrate on older guys like Colas and Cespedes because to sign a 16 yr old you might have to have an eye on them when the are 14 and 15 and there's little doubt JR doesn't want any part of that and the Sox have suffered because of it.

Doubt that even matters all that much in baseball. 16th pick ,14th pick whatever. I'm sure there will be successes after the Sox pick and busts before it. A quick look at some of the AL guys in the All Star game this year , Judge was the 32nd pick in the 1st round, Trout was 25th pick in 1st round, Corey Seager 18th pick 1st round. Ty France 34th round, Jose Trevino 6th round, Santiago Espinal 10th round. TA was 17th pick ,1st round and many many players were Int'l signees. How many Int'l draft picks have the Sox signed that might possibly make an AS Team Robert, Abreu, but none of those guys were 16 yrs old when signed like Guerrero, Devers and Altuve who the Astros had turned away from their Venezuelan Academy twice before they signed him for $15,000. I bring up the 16 yr. olds because this is an area Reinsdorf has stuck his control into also. They don't want to sign 16 year olds plus JR liked to trade his Int'l draft money away on probably around 5 different occasions. They did sign Tatis, Jr. at 16 but traded him when he was 17 before he even played a game for them. JR was probably pissed they gave him $700K .

Looks like Colas hit 2 HR's and a double . 3/5 now . If my calculation are correct his line is .389, .421, .778, 1.199 in the 4 game sample size.

It's fine . Real strong arm and he played CF a lot in A+.

They get to 5 games above .500 and just like before cratered after. They'll be lucky to finish above the rest of the year.

LOL I wasn't saying Tim is going to be traded just that it was a possibility. No one is untouchable . When I was asked who would play SS the correct answer should've been how the heck would I know , but I gave him an example.

It was just a random comment if they decide not to play him the rest of the season and trade him. I'm sure they could find someone to play SS. Lenyn Sosa. We have no idea who's staying or going.

OK so basically not trying to learn anything. No one forces pitchers to go 9 innings when they either lose what they started with or tire after a certain amount of pitches. Still sounds punitive, vindictive and spiteful.

I'd try to get Yoan to use a leg kick and stride. Get his body moving in motion generate some pop. He rarely moves his feet.He can't keep doing what he's doing. He's so still until he swings and makes no effort to reach or adjust if he's fooled.

What exactly would he learn ? I don't know how many pitches he was at when he was pulled . Are you trying to learn how poorly he can pitch after he's dead tired and if he'll get injured ?

Rushed to the majors is something I never think can completely destroy a hitter. If you have the talent to play the game and make the necessary adjustments to keep the talent from being dominated by pitching talent and scouting reports you will be a good MLB player. Take Tim Anderson for example . Decent rookie year at the age of 23 but then in the next 2 years his weaknesses were exposed and he had down years. In 2019 he took a huge leap forward and stayed there. He became good through his own hard work and figuring out the game and how to hit. I'm sure some coaches along the way helped him but a player has to persevere and be mentally tough to go through the failures. Some guys have so much talent they can be great at 21 yrs old. The rest have to work at it. I think the sooner you're brought up the more you can get into what you are supposed to learn in the big leagues. Facing inferior competition hardly prepares you to face the best in the world. Colas turned 24 Sept. 17 . He needs to play against the best now. When you have 1st basemen playing the OF, an actually LH OF like Colas who already has the ability to hit both RH and LH pitching , has a strong arm and power and can also play CF is quite valuable. He made adjustments and was a better hitter in AA than A+ .Even if he has a bad 1st season offensively like Vaughn did, at least he'll still provide positive value in the OF and we won't have to see Vaughn in RF ever again.

We don't have a huge amount of talent. The stats will tell you that. I'm struggling to find anyone all that talented . My definition of talented is on field results which includes actually playing a lot of games. Among the position players who does that describe? Just Abreu and Anderson and Anderson cratered this year like so many others on this team. Others have flashed vast amounts of talent like Jimenez, Moncada and Robert but injuries and whatever is wrong with Moncada have neutered them. Vaughn doesn't have any value playing the OF. He might become a very good hitter but 1st baseman need to be a power bat. There's plenty of guys a lot faster who play better defense in lots of positions with 1+ fWAR (Vaughn currently with .4). In other words it would take 10+ Vaughns to equal 1 Steven Kwan. Grandal has hit rock bottom and thinking he can recover is like thinking Moncada can recover and Eloy and Robert can stay healthy enough to actually put back to back full seasons (140 min. games) together. In other words good luck with that. TLR is just a by product of a terrible system because of the owner. TLR , Hahn both have done terrible jobs but getting rid of both is like cutting high branches off a mighty oak. It will be barely noticeable because JR is the oak. He's operated the same way since he owned the team. The rebuild was doomed to failure from the start but they can always blame Covid, The CBA, lockouts and late spring training when it's actually ineptitude from top to bottom in the organization.
