When a pitcher is consistently around the plate and close to hitting his spots, he is going to get calls. It's not framing , it's the umpire.
When a guy isn't around the plate and missing his spots he won't get the calls.
When he is showing his power stroke again from the right side I would prefer keeping him in a groove. A Moncada that can actually slug over .450 would be a very welcome addition and there is no time to waste when the rest of the lineup and especially his replacement is so bad and McGuire has to catch.
This is also true and will become an even bigger problem when the 14 man pitching staff is reduced to 13. When people scream in the game threads about using other guys in situations that they don't agree with the amount of high leverage situations cannot only be picked up by the best guys.
While we also scream about the position playing resting too much, it's crucial with the reduction in the staff coming that the Sox score more runs because the if close games continue we are going to see more of the bottom relievers being used in situation we don't like.
Or you could look on the bright side. Lynn still missing . Eloy still missing. Sheets coming to life. Giolito back soon from Covid. Vaughn back. Moncada back and swinging well. Bummer out and maybe he can turn it around too.
