Vinnie's pitched his last 8.2 innings without giving up a run. -
Which is why it's not the best case scenario

Scooter , Vinnie and Cody ! Let's Gooooooooooooooo !! -
No No No . Best case scenario is V V becomes a good pitcher.Keuchel finds his mojo in the bullpen and a spot start every now and then, but not enough mojo to get the innings he needs for next year so we can then trade him.
-
If Velasquez can have another solid start it's possible you may get your wish. Giolito, Cease, Kopech, then 2 of Velasquez, Lopez, Cueto (if he doesn't opt out on May 15th) possibly Banks. Kelly takes an open BP spot as does perhaps Keuchel if he isn't released. Once Lynn is back that could be the end of Kuechel . Until then there's time to see how they all perform. Vaughn, Moncada and Kelly all should be back in the 2nd week of May barring any setbacks ,which could happen to Moncada. Lynn is possibly back in the rotation the 2nd or 3rd week in June. Same is possible for Eloy.
-
Cueto might not even be here after May 15th.

Look it's not any fan's fault the Sox screwed everything up this off season. I was the biggest proponent of giving the QO to Rodon and then resigning him. The Sox made their bed. I was just giving you the facts as they stand now. They have Jack and Squat to replace Keuchel with that doesn't fuck with how the rest of the team is constructed. As bad as Keuchel looks right now and last year you just don't rid yourself of a healthy arm in early May. There is a slight chance he can pitch better. This is called insurance in case someone else goes down .

The stats Cuda used only covered 12 of the 24 games. There is a gap between 3 and 3.5 hrs. I have no idea if the other 12 games were somewhere over 3 hrs but less than 3.5 hrs which is what his data suggests. That would mean the Sox are 4-8 in games between 3 and 3.5 hrs long. -

Not weird at all. Under 3 hrs. means they got good pitching and their AB's are still aggressive and our innings short since under 3 hr. games are pretty rare. -

When you are in the middle of your "multiple championships" window every bad decision by the FO is magnified and deserves scorn as often as possible. There were a lot of people here who thought the Sox front office knew best. Any time anyone says that I am prone to be more than a little curious as to why. That was back in early November and anyone who gave the FO the benefit of the doubt was most assuredly disappointed in the allocation of funds from early November and throughout the rest of the off season. The amount of people just sticking to their guns on this because of pride or because they are waiting to see if Rodon blows his arm out so they can pounce just seems so out of place while the Sox have struggled with injuries to the starting staff and lack of LH hitting still among the Sox biggest concerns. If the team never advances to the late rounds of the playoffs in the window this will be the off season that everyone points to as main reason they didn't capitalize , along with the TLR hiring and the obsession that relief pitching cures all ills. And all of that is on the FO . -

I never did give them the benefit of the doubt. Like you I didn't know his health but I went under the assumption that he wasn't hurt because he was still pitching just not as effectively. If his MRI's and what not showed anything wrong ,which Rodon would surely be aware of, then why would he still continue to pitch ? That's why from the beginning I was saying they should give him the QO. I will never understand picking up the $16M option on a relief pitcher who sucked for you in a short period of time over giving an $18M QO to one of the best starting pitchers in baseball who pitched his heart out for you to help you make the playoffs and without him for the majority of the 2nd half the Sox were barely above .500 . Not only did they pitch him in situations he apparently couldn't handle but then tried to justify what they traded for him by spending the majority of the off season trying to get rid of him. The odd thing is they pitched Rodon in the 1st half as if there was zero chance his arm would get tired in the 2nd half when they should 've been pitching him less because of the time missed the previous 2 years and tried to keep him available for the playoffs. It's as if they had no clue or didn't care about their best pitcher being available for the playoffs. And that kind of thinking worries me when the same group is handling Kopech. -

From what I can see the Kimbrel option was in the news Nov. 6 and the QO offer decision Nov. 7 so approx. the same time. I'm sure they decided what to do on both way before then. -

Didn't have to wait at all to know he was worth the QO. I know the argument always was that the Sox know him best with regards to his medicals which is fair. However it's Hahn's job to improve the White Sox and not to improve the chances of other teams signing him for cheaper or to just throw away draft picks. If Rodon accepted the QO we got a guy who was among the best pitchers in baseball when he was pitching. If he refuses it the Sox get a draft pick and make it more difficult for others to sign him .The arm tiring was totally expected given how few innings he pitched the previous 2 years. The Giants signed him with a better conditioned arm because of those innings he pitched last year. His meds must've looked OK to the Giants. You can make up a lot of scenarios of what could've happened if Rodon took the QO . Maybe they don't sign Cueto and Vince Velasquez . Maybe they don't give Leury 3 years . Maybe they don't pick up Kimbrels option and free up money to get different players like Eduardo Escobar instead. There are all kinds of ways the money could've been allocated better. -

We'll have to wait 5 months to see if they make the playoffs and who the pitcher will be. -

The Sox with a fine game by the goalie and good forechecking, skate to a 3-1 win -

Guess it wasn't so hard for some teams to find starting pitching.
