  1. OK Jack remember this when all that never comes to fruition. MLB cannot force into existence the way the game used to be played. Nor do they want to. Your thinking cap is askew. The sport evolves along it's own path.
  2. I have more baseball acumen than most the idiots you are babbling on about. Baseball does not want singles and stolen bases to replace HR's. They want to speed up the game that's it. If they somehow decide to reduce the number of throws to 1st base like they have in the minors what's the point , to do something that 's never been done before when runners want to steal ? It's ridiculous.
  3. Easy big fella. You got us 1 win , you can get us another one. No need to give up hope. Show a little faith there's magic in the night. She aint' a beauty but, hey, she's all right !
  4. My own personal sportsblab says no one wants boring baseball. HR's are exciting more than any one single thing in baseball. Anyone who thinks MLB wants stolen bases, warning track fly outs and the players to adapt more than HR's has holes in their heads. Please tell me why if anyone want's players to adapt why are they switching the shift rules next year ?
  5. Well I guess I did then. And who exactly do you mean by no one ? Do you have access to how everyone does workload calculations given how much things have changed in the last 10 years ? Or are you speaking about your time in MLB as a pitching coach and health advisor to the front offices? What about playoff innings , do they count ? As far as I'm concerned any time you take the mound in a situation that requires you to pitch against another team in a competitive situation, the IP counts. Side sessions and warm-ups are prerequisites to being a pitcher and do not involve the risk of a batter lining a pitch off your forehead. But I guess we are now down to splitting hairs and I will continue to use 150 IP.
  6. Last week the Sox had 5 players who had at least 100wRC+ and a positive fWAR. With the recent hitting woes that number is down to 3, Timmy, Vaughn, and Burger. Among those 3, Burger is the only one with a positive defensive WAR. Of course these things fluctuate up and down, especially defensive WAR, with so few games under their belts atm.
  7. They don't really have to take better care of him because he isn't coming off 2 straight years of barely pitching now. He has that 150 innings under his belt from last year. His arm is less likely to get gassed as quickly. Let's look at it again during the All-Star break and see where it's at. What's dumb is thinking the innings from last year don't figure into the calculus.
  8. Just remember the Giants offer could have been different/less if they knew they had to give up a draft pick. By not offering the QO the Sox made it easier on any team wanting to sign him and lost a draft pick. It's Hahn job to work and do good things for the Sox not the rest of baseball and Scott Boras.
  9. A lot of people were telling us at the beginning of the year that he was one of the best in the AL in LF last year.
  10. He was playing near 2nd base but you usually see the SS go out on high popups to short LF and he just looked at it.
  11. Tim just stood and watched that one. He might've had a better shot at it than Vaughn.
  12. Just slather on the good old Icy Hot or Tiger Balm on shoulders, elbows, knees ,calves, thighs, and back. That'll keep you warm and muscles relaxed. Will also make for a lovely smelling training room , club house and dugout ! Probably will help avoid injuries too. I'd have a metric ton of that stuff around and make sure the guys used it in the cold always.
