Clase has a nasty slider and is death for most RH hitters. He just threw some nasty sliders . The best thing he could've done in that situation was take the 1st pitch . If its a ball take the 2nd pitch. But every pitch was low and away slider not sure any of them hit the strike zone but once Engel was behind in the count he was meat.

Ugh I hate how catchers have to catch great throws in today's game of no contact at the plate . That throw was amazing by Hamilton but Grandal catches it 5 feet from where the tag ends up having to be at. There's no way in hell his hand traveling 5 feet can move as fast as that thrown ball which was basically like a strike from a pitcher , right over the plate. Have to let that throw travel deeper.

Central Division Champs now. While the 2nd game is a bit anti- climatic I'd love to see them finish the season strong . The Sox go as Timmy goes. Tim gets an RBI and the Sox are like 31-4 when he doesn't they are 9 games under .500 . Big day for Time leading off the game with a HR then adding a 3 run HR in the 2nd. Eloy and Robert also hit solo shots. Robert hit another bomb off the CF wall that went for just a single. Lopez pitched well enough in 3.1 innings while the BP of Crochet, Bummer, Kimbrel and Hendriks pitched 3.2 innings of shutout ball. Cesar Hernandez broke out of his long slump while going 3-3 in his return to Cleveland and collected career hit 1000. Congrats to Cesar and to all the Sox for winning the Central.

Me too. I've been waiting to see TLR move struggling guys down even when it's Abreu. Hoping it incentivizes them to buckle down .You don't produce like a clean up hitter , then you won't be batting clean up then until you prove you belong there.

Everyone please feel free to use the postponed game to talk White Sox baseball. Just refrain from being dicks and getting the thread closed since I'm using it for tomorrows game and I don't want to make a new one. I know we are at the height of skepticism about the team's chances in the 1st round. The Sox are going to clinch their 1st division title in 13 years and although it may ring hollow please celebrate that. Some of you may have changed from a 20 something to 40 yrs old in that time. Last time I started a game thread the Sox won 5 in a row at the end of June and into July. This is the time that I have been saying ( the last 7-10 games) I want to see the Sox play the guys we are going to see in every playoff game. You're probably right. I figured as it looks now Romy won't have a place on the post season roster but the Sox might still be trying to see which pitchers to bring so they might get longer looks.

I posted this yesterday since you are looking for pitching. Probably not enough innings to get one of your awards but intriguing reliever.

Yep all their OF options are missing some aspect to their game that Adam has. With Engel you get speed , defense and some power. No matter who is pitching he should be in the lineup and if he gets injured again so be it , you still have all the guys who have been playing OF anyway. Get Adam up to speed asap.

If you watched the game today some time in the 2nd inning they said that the offense has only had 3 games with these 6 guys in it all season, Tim, Robert, Abreu Eloy Grandal and Moncada. They won each game against the Cubs 17-13, Angels 9-3 and Rangers 8-0. Maybe that will give you some hope. Very soon maybe in the last 7-10 games of the season we should start seeing that lineup more often.

We can all see stats but they don't tell the future . Playoff appearances here are so rare that I try not to expect anything. I'm not going to expect to dominate or be dominated. I don't expect certain pitchers or hitters to be better than others. Once the playoff start it's a new but much shorter season where anyone can surprise you.

Actions speak louder than words. It doesn't matter what he says, its what he does that will get him a good contract, so why bother trying to fake it with words ?
