  1. Being a bandwagoner is what I call fan fashion. You go to where you can be seen and root for any Chicago team. It's not such a bad thing. Fashion is just doing what everyone else is doing to be on some kind of hipster list. Hairstyles, tats, clothes, small dogs, the latest social media trend, whatever. I'll take a guy who likes baseball and roots for the Sox even if he's not a Sox fan any time over the rest of the fashionistas.
  2. Truth. Cusack is a baseball fan, he can go to whatever games he wants to and root for who he pleases. Why should he get any grief for that ?
  3. Half assed apology. Not sorry he said it or misused it , only sorry I don't like it. Big difference.
  4. Use it the proper way when Baby boomers are causing millennials increasing economic, environmental, and social anxiety, and I'm ok with it. Use it when an old guy says something stupid that has nothing to do with Millennials and it's ageism. That's how I always see you using it. If anything Gammoms was being quite new agey that Tepera should be sorry for insulting the Astros organization without proof.
  5. https://www.vox.com/2019/11/19/20963757/what-is-ok-boomer-meme-about-meaning-gen-z-millennials The conversation isn’t through with them, however, not least because the rise of OK boomer has provoked concurrent backlash from baby boomers, many of whom have misread the meme, and feel it is motivated mainly by ageism. But that misreading also feeds the meme — because baby boomers failing to understand the point of OK boomer is, well, the point of OK boomer. Don’t get it twisted. It’s important to understand that what really lies behind the meme is increasing economic, environmental, and social anxiety, and the feeling that baby boomers are leaving younger generations to clean up their mess. Seems to me it is mocking from one generation to another generation for leaving the younger generation a mess and that you are using the phrase wrong unless of course you are using it to mean he's old and out of touch just as all baby Boomers are and therefore stereotyping a whole society of people. Would you do that to a black person , a Jewish Person. a women ? It just seems like odd behavior for a guy who is always sticking up for everyone's rights unless you just don't like old white people.
  6. What is ? Me being bothered about ageism or Gammons crying about apologizing to the Astros ?
  7. I didnt see an age connection either . Just a lame comment explained away by the poster by making fun of his age.
  8. It needs explaining if all you are saying is OK Boomer. The phrase baby boomer doesn't bother me at all . You use of it does because you never use it in a good way. Stop.
  9. I really wish you would lay off the stupid OK Boomer comments. It's like you are saying his comment is age related or that you are saying he is making a stupid comment because of his age. Either way it's ageism and if we don't allow racism or insulting comments regarding creed or gender or sexual orientation why do we allow age related biases ? A stupid thing to do or say is stupid regardless of age . Plenty of people of all ages makes mistakes and say weird things. Couldn't you have just explained a reason for disagreeing with Gammons rather than make fun of his age ?
  10. Probably a bad take, but.... It's the playoffs and the fervor about the cheating scandal has died down. You want your fans fired up. It's why you are always suspicious of ex cons. It's why we see post after post about Nelson Cruz being on steroids. The Astro's did not do a good thing and right or wrong the organization will just have to live with the scrutiny and unfair takes.
  11. Are you just here because you like reading the National Enquirer and just want to stir up trouble ? I didn't see any mismanagement. . One young pitcher with no innings in 2 years and 1 young pitcher prone to injury with no history of starting success in college nor of pitching a long season and both get through the season healthy and pitching in the post season . Where the hell is the mismanagement? You have to walk before you can run.
  12. If you expect a good hitter making good money to hit to his career norms anywhere in the lineup I'd expect the same from a pitcher. A one inning guy is a one inning guy. ! Same ball same plate , same pay . Your motivation is your sick child, and paying for her health care . I don't care how many HOFish relievers have been demoted with good numbers. He wasn't demoted here. He was promoted from a losing team to a winning team with a chance to pitch in high leverage situations on a winning team that already had a guy doing what he does. So take the next best relief role and excel at it. Any way too much time on Kimbrel. Time for another win.
  13. Good discussion though. I'm not sure what Tony was doing calling you Ms. unless I missed something. Didn't sound like an insult you calling him Sir. It was respectful. Everything else Tony said I agree with but can see your square peg in a round hole argument as well but for the money he's making you would thing he could pitch well in any situation. But Kimbrel is where he wanted to be and I feel for the guy with his daughters health. I hope he's got some bullets left for any other innings he's called upon to pitch.
  14. He ain't crying now. He's in the catbird seat. But 2 more games and he might be.
  15. And some as usual were non-sensically calling for Leury's DFA during the playoffs !
  16. Hey Buddy in the game thread ! Do it again tomorrow. Dog pile pics !
  17. I don't think anyone could be blamed for the negativity but at home the Sox are a different beast.
  18. 12-6 final . Awesome comeback. Bullpen after Kopech was nails !
  19. Hey I know this is going to sound dumb since I'm not in chicago but have any of u tried to watch the game on channel 32. Someone told me they can get it there.
  20. I don't think Lucas is soft. Watch the other playoff games and see how early some of the starting pitchers are being pulled. Seems like an equal amount of guys don't go 5 inning as do go 5+ . It's a tough road to hoe pitching against Houston in Houston. Even Lucas at his worst hung in there . But LaRussa should ve had Kopech warming in the 4th and if he was going to let Gio start the 5th he should've been out of the game after the lead off walk. I asked the question in the game thread who should be pitching the 5th as did another poster and only 1 guy wanted to answer that question . He said let Gio start the 5th and pull him if he let's anyone get on . I told him I think I agree but would've been fine with Kopech starting the inning. I'm also pretty sure I was the only one in the game thread who mentioned Kopech so everything you're seeing now about not using him is hindsight by everyone except me.
  21. That's one way to spin or you could say it was definitely an overpay that has been a tragic trading deadline since he got here . I will say that Hahn or the organization are still wrapped up in relief pitchers being way too important. It hurt in the draft, payroll and it's hurting in winning games. I was fine with getting more relief pitching but I threw a lot of names out there that would 've cost a lot less before the Kimbrel trade became reality.
  22. Hang on Slewpy. You bring Kopech into the game at that point because Lucas had been walking guys and getting hit hard and Kopech was the only one in the pen capable of pitching multiple innings since the Sox had to cover 5 innings if Kopech was brought in to start the 5th inning. There was no reason to go to Crochet because he pitched yesterday and he has not shown this season to be capable of going in back to back games. This 2nd game had to be treated like a must win game. The team that goes up 2-0 in a 5 game series wins 88% of the time. Lucas sucked but the Sox were ahead 4-2. If Kopech starts the 5th and pitched 2 shutout inning maybe things are different.
