  1. Between those 3 I think one of them has a chance to be very good player at 2nd base for the Sox. Sanchez is 24 and Romy is already 25 with a lot of power and both with good eyes at the dish. Or we see them traded . The off season and the regular season are a total mystery to me now with the chance of a strike.
  2. I don't know if you are serious or being sarcastic. If I thought you were serious I'd give you a "like" but then again if I give you a "like" ,some other admin might check to see who is giving you the like and could tell everyone else.
  3. Hello Jason. I hope you are well. As you know I have been a member here for a very long time. I have never been banned and usually try to stay out of politics since the primary function of Soxtalk is sports. I know there are places here to discuss politics and other relevant issues of today's world.

What is bothering me is the constant interjection of politics into the sports threads. I know sports and politics intertwine on many occasions and therefore, it is difficult to regulate.

The NLCS thread I started was just closed by an admin because politics invaded it and I spoke out against the invasion. Of course I knew the second I opened my mouth to complain about it that I couldn't win because everyone feels the right to express their opinions on racism in all threads. I thought maybe an admin would say keep politics out of the thread. Aren't there some rules of the site that support me thinking that way ? All I did was start a baseball thread and did nothing to provoke the invasion of politics into it. The thread was closed because once I stated I just wanted to enjoy baseball without the politics someone else chimed in that their enjoyment of baseball was compromised by the racism of the Braves organization. Then I got sarcastic by basically saying it's the trendy thing to do rather than actually being so concerned as to do anything about it except ruin the thread. I know me commenting about it also lead to the ruination of the thread and I was admonished by admin Kyyle that since I was offended in previous threads about southsider2k5 use of ageist remarks that I shouldn't be so upset about the political statements in the threads. I know this is getting somewhat convoluted but bear with me. My previous comments to southsider2k5 were brought about by his lack of sensitivity on more than one occasion making fun of Baby boomers. I know that isn't much of an issue with most people like racism is but I thought it was important that if we are to be sensitive about about race and creed then we should also be sensitive about comments on the elderly and not disparage a whole generation of people. Any way you can read it all in the thread that was closed and I am hesitant to start the NLCS thread again .

After the thread was closed southsider2k5 also posted.  Maybe he used his admin powers to post in the thread after it was closed or maybe he got it in before it was closed. All I know is I saw the popup that he had commented after the thread was already closed.

A few months ago I wrote to another admin Texsox that I felt southsider2k5 was abusing his privileges as an admin by using his knowledge of who uses emojis by making posts letting another poster know that as an admin he knew that poster was using laugh emojis on other peoples posts . No one is supposed to know who uses emojis  except admin are allowed to see that but I thought he was violating the posters right to privacy when using emojis by telling anyone who read his posts that he knew where he was using them. Texsox was sympathetic and I quoted the posts to him that southsider2k5 made to show him what I meant. Texsox was not aware that admins can see who posts emojis where. I suppose Texsox wrote to southsider2k5 and kept my name out of it and that was the end of it.

Once again I know how hard it is to regulate admins and keep politics out of threads and I apologize if what I wrote was difficult to follow. I also know it's been increasingly difficult since the LaRussa hire to keep politics and ageist comments out of threads. I am sorry if I am a problem. All I did was start a thread about the NLCS. I did nothing to provoke the original political commentary that appeared in the thread. If you need anything else from me such as my letters to Texsox to better understand what the heck I'm talking about feel free to ask for them.

    Sincerely,

    Ronald Ward

  4. As an admin aren't politics supposed to be in another forum like Slam and supposed to be kept out of gamethreads . If anyone wants to go there and do it or go to a braves playoff game and hold up a sign that says " if you do the tomahawk chop you are a racist" I will applaud your efforts. My pushback on ageism was because of ageist comments made by individuals here. Watching a baseball game and starting the NLCS thread was not racist. Surely you can see the difference. I did nothing to provoke the politics in the thread.
  5. Did you enjoy watching the Braves in the 90's before you became woke and you decided that the Braves symbol was racist and so was the tomahawk chop? I guess you woke up when everyone else did . I know my position is a losing one because I am not acting like the woke people who must invade people's enjoyment of a simple game with how hip they have become.
  6. Sure bring politics into a baseball game thread. Some of us would like to just enjoy the games.
  7. Pollock HR then Taylor 2 run HR and Dodgers up 3-2 now in the 2nd.
  8. Kelly coming out after a single by Albies and Freeman HR puts ATL up 2-0. Might be coming out for an injury.
  9. Yea poor poor Kimbrel so much bad luck. All those barrels hitting all those balls in places where there were no fielders in the wrong inning while making an ungodly sum of money per pitch.
  10. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/jose-rodriguez-showcases-power-bat-for-glendale?t=arizona-fall-league-coverage I put this in the AFL thread but also here in case anyone missed it
  11. No it still works because I made the NLCS thread and wrote Doders instead of Dodgers and I just changed it.
  12. He only got a brief taste of AA so we will have to see how he does there next year. That level should be his biggest challenge. Yolbert Sanchez ,who played very well in AA after his promotion and Romy Gonzalez will perhaps get a shot and both should be in Spring Training .
  13. You know as the starter of any thread you can edit the title .
  14. Nice write up on Jose Rodriguez who hit a granny yesterday in the AFL. Interview is also on video at the same link with Danny Farquhar doing the interpreting for Jose. When was the last time the Sox had a 20 yr old climb 3 levels in a season and then jump into the AFL ? Jose is is a very exciting prospect. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/jose-rodriguez-showcases-power-bat-for-glendale?t=arizona-fall-league-coverage
  15. It's going to be a long off season and made longer by endless speculation. Just going to sit back strap it down and see what happens with the CBA . Ciao.
  16. Chris Taylor with a 2 out bases loaded double nets the Dodgers 2 runs. It was actually a bloop single to CF that Heredia couldn't scoop on the short hop and let it get by him. How the official scorer gave him a double I'll never know. Heredia was brought in on a double switch.
  17. Madrigal might've won the batting title if not for the injury the way he was hitting when injured . His last 75 AB's he hit like .355 . Madrigal's .305 is not that far off from the .319 Gurriel hit and won the batting title with . He can win one in the future if he stays healthy.
  18. Will Smith gettin' jiggy wit it. 2-1 Dodgers
  19. True umps as usual interjecting themselves into the game.
  20. LOL I know I thought it was an odd choice for the Giants to be playing that song.
  21. That's a good Sex Pistols song. I forget which one . Bodies ? Yep it's Bodies at the 1:55 mark.
