  1. Other 40 changes we might see. Seby, Rutherford, Mercedes, Kimbrel could all be gone. Collins could be traded. Ciuffo the backup catcher. Once Kimbrel is gone other pieces could get moved for Manaea among them Burger, Adolfo, Romy Gonzalez, Aybar ,Bilous,Foster, Burr,Severino or Bennett. Cespedes could be added to the 40 or traded. But I think they keep Cespedes.
  2. It's hard for many guys to tone it down or go half speed. No one wants to make their pitcher look bad because they half assed a play.
  3. Adolfo is likely gone before the season starts but there is a slight chance he stays in the event that Vaughn is out for longer than a few weeks. Micker is on the 40 but I have a sneaking suspicion that the 40 has 3 or 4 changes before the season starts.
  4. Just saying Ciuffo is supposed to good defensively. That was always a part of his scouting report. His bat never developed but he got in some MLB games with TB and Baltimore. When you are trying to hold a lead in the late innings a catcher who can frame and block pitches is just as handy as putting in a defensive OF especially with our ground ball artists in the pen.
  5. Nick Ciuffo as the backup catcher might be the plan if Collins is used in a trade. I know Ciuffo isn't anything special but he's light years better defensively than Collins. He was always graded highly defensively when he was in the Rays system. He bats left handed and throws right. He caught part of the game today and looked good catching a few different guys Crick, Sousa ,Ruiz, and Bummer.
  6. Or we continue to value another good starter in the rotation more. Gotta give to get.
  7. They won't ever be on the same team.
  8. Maybe he knows it's spring training and no sense getting injured busting your ass down the line
  9. Nice to see Eddy Alvarez again. His sister Nicole is a long time DJ for KROQ FM in Los ANgeles for a while now.
  10. Medical report of Vaughn will officially be a bruised hip to Boras Listed as day to day.
  11. Pressing their luck with Keuchel but hey, why not, gotta get him ready.
  12. Nah he didn't look wobbly . Banged his hip on the ground and he was keeping his hand on it.
  13. Easy. No one is yet willing to pay their asking prices.
  14. Repeat after me. Sox are broke until they get some money from Kimbrel. That is how they are operating right now. If anything happens it will be Manaea once Kimbrel situation is resolved.
  15. Oakland probably asking price too high or may take their chances on the TDL with him. Kimble is the hold up. It's so obvious that the Sox get Manaea with the Kimbrel money if Sox and A's can agree on Manaea's cost. That's the only moves the Sox have left. Hahn may trade Kimbrel for something else but the Sox need at least $10M of his salary on their books .
  16. Is Yolbert Sanchez even in camp ? He's supposed to be a very good defender and if his hitting continues like it did in Birmingham and the AZ Fall League his upside could be a solid regular at 2nd base very soon. Romy is nothing to sneeze at either with his power but I can't say how valuable his 2nd base defense would be. We've seen multiple guys struggle defensibly at 2nd base between Madrigal and Moncada.
  17. Swiss Army Knive's would be very useful Post-Apocalypse but I agree the White Sox are not at the Post-Apocalypse stage yet.
  18. If the Sox have any moves left in them, it's going to be dumping Kimbrel's salary in a trade because they could still use the money for Manaea's $9.75M arb. salary . This is the round peg in the round hole move. Oakland just has to cooperate and it appears the Twins are the main competition so the Sox might have to pay Oakland's price. While most here expect the playoffs again, there are easy to see scenario's in which the Sox older pitchers regress in both the rotation and the pen and the younger pitchers don't show as much as hoped along with injuries.
  19. Yes they are ready to get a rental. If they can dump the Kimbrel salary and even eat $4-5M of it that frees up money for Manaea's $9.75M. Lynn was a rental in the window. This is exactly what I think they are trying to do. They need to stop pussy footing around and just rid themselves of Kimbrel as long as it frees up his money. Refusing his option would've accomplished that already.
  20. Anything that gets the Sox Bellinger for Kimbrel I'm down. I just think the Dodgers are too smart to trade Bellinger at a low value. They could just start telling GM's that they want to trade him and look for much better offers than a high priced down side closer and a often injured guy who plays a great OF.
  21. Kimbrel is an anchor around everything White Sox right now. I don't pretend to know what's happened to Bellinger. His 1st 3 years, the NL couldn't find a way to pitch him. He's still 26 yrs old , a former MVP, Gold Glove type OF and 1st baseman with a ton of power and Oh yeah he's left handed and has 2 years left. Sox would probably have to throw more into the deal and even if the Dodgers offered Bellinger , I'm not even sure the Sox would take him because of his salary. We have no idea how the Sox are planning their budget for the rest of the season and next season.
  22. Was Lynn for Dunning a fair trade ? Prior to that trade for the previous 2 seasons combined Lynn led the majors in starts and innings and was 2nd to DeGrom in WAR. He was a rental. Technically it was Dunning and Avery Weems for Lynn. Lynn final season had an $8M contract attached to it. Dunning was the 5th rated prospect in a strong system. What's the best thing we can say about Manaea ? He's a good reliable starter . Is anyone in Oakland panicking because he's given up 6 runs in 6 innings this spring ? Oakland obviously wants as much as they can get for him and taking their sweet time. Maybe they want pitching back in which case Vera might be their most valuable prospect and he hasn't pitched any official innings for the organization yet has he ? Burger will be 26 very soon but he's ready to step into a starting 3B role with a team that just dumped their starting 3rd baseman. Manaea is a rental. Burger is ranked 6th in a weak system but he hits the ball hard and far. Throw some names out there . Montgomery, Rodriguez, Kath, Cespedes ? Are 2 top 10 prospects in the Sox system worth it ? Maybe throw Adolfo in with Burger. He's technically the Sox 10th rated prospect but won't be for much longer since he's likely to be done soon. Right now they are the 2 best power hitters on the Sox farm.
