Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
These are the kind of narratives that never make any sense. A pitcher with a 3.57 ERA with decent K, BB percentages should not only be put in games up or down by 5 runs. How often does that happen? Then you got others here who aren't going to trust Lopez in the same situation and others who want Kimbrel and Hendrick to pitch at any time. If Foster stays around how do you use him ? So now you have 3 guys you can't use unless you are up or down by 5 runs ? There are way more things to consider besides how far ahead or down you are. Look when you manage a bullpen there are never ideal situations to pitch just the right guy. You track their appearances, their innings pitched last year , innings pitched this year ,the times they get up and down in the pen, who's coming up to bat, how they feel, and maybe a dozen other things and the manager has to make a choice while using everyone to keep them all involved as much as possible because you never know when someone will be called upon to go above and beyond their specific role. A manager will do certain things to manage the specific roles he has on how to use guys. It's never going to make everyone happy in the regular season with a 10 game lead. Managing in the post season is a different ball game and despite anyone thinking the way TLR manages the BP is antiquated his BP usage will also change in the post season. Right now HFA is rightly taking a back seat to keeping the team healthy and ready to play the post season. At some point, some of you have to realize TLR has done this before. He has got teams ready to play in the post season and won World Series.

Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
People were thinking he could get 100 innings this year coming off 2 years of not pitching. I think it would be pretty easy to get him 100+ after he gets 55+ this year. It's just not what people here wanted. They wanted 100 IP this year and 150 IP+ next year.

Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
I don't think it was the plan to have the RH relievers suck this year. We knew from the get go that Kopech and Crochet just weren't going to get the innings due to babying them because of lack of innings pitched in the past . About the only thing that could be said about the plan was maybe another BP arm could've been added to the off season or put Kopech and/or Crochet in the minors. But when you have live arms capable of getting MLB hitters out and you are attempting to win a World Series we all know you need every good arm available. But once the RH relievers started sucking that shortened the BP a lot. Bringing up Lopez was kind of the last ditch effort to get something out of the minors to work at the MLB level. At one point Kopech was starting to be stretched out but then he had the hammy injury and lately he hasn't been pitching all that well so going multiple inning hasn't really been an option. Most speculate he was tipping pitches but like any young pitcher who hadn't pitching the last 2 seasons it could just be inconsistency or even a dead arm period.

What was the rational behind not stretching out Kopech ? Sorry I can't read the Athletic articles ?

Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
So what about TLR saying he expected it to be longer ?
-
Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
Really? Ride him hard seems pretty self explanatory even given the context. You could've said rest him when necessary and if his arm survives through the playoffs we will revisit what kind of FA contract he will be worth.

Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
A 10 day IL stint is and it will probably be longer . He skipped a start recently and had 8 days off between starts but even that wasn't long enough to prevent the shoulder fatigue or worse. Right now looking at best case scenario it's 2 weeks off and worst case who knows.

Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
Since 2017 it has been. Last year was on a neutral field but still the Dodgers were given HFA (last AB).

Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
Riding Rodon hard would've surely meant not having him for the post season. How does that make any sense at all ? It was never just about just having no interest in having him next year.

And mine.

You also said ride Rodon hard .
-
Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
LOL OK So saying he shouldn't be shut down is somehow smarter ?
-
Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
Who says Kopech doesn't have a tired arm too ? He's pitched less than Rodon in the last 2 years and although he's pitched less than Rodon this year the fatigue could still be there .

Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
Revisionist history is always wrong. We just had a poll here that asked Should Rodon be shut down for an extended period? 77.66% of responders said NO.

Just odd to hear anyone say that. Tons of boomers use basic modern tech and are fully aware of Youtube and Smart TV's and laptops. I would imagine there is a small segment of them perhaps over 70 that haven't mastered it yet but if you have a computer and have no idea what Youtube is you are really out of touch.

But he got to see Avi Garcia hit a bomb.
-
And that’s a white sox winner…Suck it Twins
Just goes to show how good a decent offense can be when you add a guy who can carry a team, that 40+ HR power or 900-1.000 OPS guy.

Sox at Twins 8/9, 7:10
Semien impressed me early in his career with the Sox by pulling his hands in and keeping a ball fair on an very inside pitch for a HR.

Nuke Laloosh we thank you.

Precisely. Vaughn could be a little banged up. Health is the #1 most important issue and getting the guys back from injury back up to speed. My guess is that TLR has a plan on how to get guys ready for the playoffs and he will follow it despite the outcry's of the misinformed or those who want TLR to fail while somehow the team succeeds.

FanGraphs Details Vaughn's Adjustment for his Turn-around
I'm really happy that he made the adjustment and with everyone getting healthy this team can go a long way.TLR should have them right where he wants them to be come the playoffs. The whole season is just an experiment that prepares them for the playoffs.
