  1. The interviews were pretty cool. He told a story about a group of Dads and he pointed to one and they started playing catch on the field. He said after about 10 throws the guy just stopped and let another guy play catch with Costner and he said he ended up playing catch with about another 30 guys.
  2. To some like me it's a great movie. Those that think as i do that probably played a lot of catch growing up with their fathers and appreciate the history of the game. Then throw in the times of your life that you grew up started doing your own thing and fought with your old man about your long hair or staying out too late or generally being a pain in the ass to your parents. My Dad is 87 now and has been in and out of ICU's for the past month and is nearing the end of his days. The movie represents when he was pretty young and vibrant and our common love of baseball and the White Sox. It hits me smack dab in the middle of my heart.
  3. Costner's been doing interviews with Bob Costas there that were on MLB Network this morning. I'm pretty sure he will be there.
  4. We'll see how some of the guys do against the better teams soon. Rey is throwing strikes and getting guys out for now. That's way more than anyone expected. I'm surprised no one has pulled up the thread when he was brought up. But then again one real bad outing can screw that up in a hurry.
  5. Did anyone mention spaghetti at all ?
  6. I was so focused on the BP and Gallo and Escobar, that I never cared about backup catcher as a need. The closer we got to the deadline the more I wanted Gomes . He would've been a really nice get although not LH he was bringing an fWAR a little below Grandal. Big discrepancy between fWAR and bWAR for Gomes . For Grandal it's pretty much equal.
  7. Someone said it was 16 but the Rodon start had 17.
  8. I don't know about expandable , but expendable yes.
  9. I said a about a week ago if Lopez continued to pitch well TLR would try him in a game with a lead. And there it is.
  10. Runner was going the broadcast just neglected to mention it.
  11. Is the ball boy in RF the kid from Deadpool 2 ?
  12. Seriously everybody's got a nice wide screen TV and they revert back to the square picture like the 70's.
  13. He can start one at home.
  14. Don't Cease , Get It, Get It ! LFG !
  15. 10 days messes with the rotation too much. That's why Rodon hadn't pitched in 8 days until today. You pick a starter and let Lambert start in his place or Reylo and have a bullpen day. Probably will see that again depending on who they want to rest. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see it again for Rodon. Kopech also might be getting tired from 0 innings pitched for 2 years for those who think he should be stretched out again. It may not be the Sox fault . It could just be Kopech has a tired arm.
  16. I doubt it. After all Boras is his Agent and will probably need the off season to field offers depending on how the rest of the season goes. However on the bright side I didn't see the Lynn extension coming so anything is possible. Also there is the bird in the hand theory that signing in the near future for a reasonable amount might be worth it rather than waiting to see how your arm holds up. My head says both side will wait .
  17. I agree but if he can make it through the season and extra rest and pitch well in the playoffs that's a great thing for him since he's pitched so few innings the last 2 years. Maybe he will actually want to resign with the Sox for all the things Katz worked with him on and the way the Sox have handled him. After all Boras works for him not the other way around. He could tell Boras get the best deal from the Sox you can if it isn't drastically different from the best offer.
  18. The 8 days of rest did him a lot of good. Call up Lambert again and rest Rodon more.
  19. Which is why I think if he get's closer to the plate he can reach that outside pitch better and drive it to CF and turn more on the ones down the middle .He should be looking to get in front of pitches and drive them . He not much good as a singles hitter. You see with Alzolay all he could do was foul off pitches on the outside part of the plate and the fastball up and away he should be able to drive a 3-2 fastball where that pitch was ( the one he swung through for the K).
  20. His spray chart shows me he has 3 doubles down the RF line. 2 doubles and 1 HR to RCF , 1 HR to CF , 1 HR to slightly LCF which you could call CF and 1 HR to the gap in LF. Only 1 double to straight away LF. Practically the whole side of medium and deep LF is empty of hits . https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/zack-collins-641470?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
  21. If he's gonna be a pull hitter he should just get closer to the plate with that open stance.
  22. One more day of wondering if the Sox win will Cleveland win too ?
