More "Hahnspeak" on Robert/Madrigal/Collins coming up
This is kind of overblown . Teams are still in pennant races and want to still win. Plenty of teams play their regular starting rotation down the stretch. It's very debatable how much other call ups, especially pitching, we'll be playing against. I'm not sure but didn't you think they should 've been up earlier ? @Chicago White Sox also mentioned something about August 1 being the time they should ve been brought up. The more I think about it it just seems pretty arbitrary to say they should ve been brought up a month ago so they could play against ML pitching and gain the experience of playing 70 or so games but shouldn't be brought up now because it's only 40 games of experience. That to me is the most curious take of all.

Not true. I pick and choose carefully what I complain about. I don't think i am viewed as a complainer . I just have reasons I think sustained success is a mirage and more emphasis was put on winning asap and less emphasis put on 2026. I also have to question why it's the people who want them up who are complaining when I could say the same about your view but I choose to acknowledge both sides have valid reasons for wanting things the way they do.

More "Hahnspeak" on Robert/Madrigal/Collins coming up
Oh I get the logic I just don't agree with it. If that's whiny I can live with it. It's not like I expect the Sox to sign some great FA's anyway to put us in a position to make the playoffs . But if they do I'll be doubly bothered about the service time logic and even more so if Robert and Madrigal struggle which basically doubles the games for adjustment time since it's 2 players missing those games.

And on the other hand all those things he has to work on in AAA for the rest of the minor league season and the games before he is brought up next year are still likely to exist. It's not like he is going to start walking a bunch more in the MiLB playoffs. I rather have him adjusting to major league pitching . Remember even brought up now and continuing into next year is more games than him staying down and playing in the playoffs and also being down next year before they bring him up. Maybe it's approx the same depending how deep into the playoffs the Knights go. But one thing for sure , he is going to be swinging the bat in the playoffs not looking to walk.

There's no point in expecting it anymore but however many games are left plus however many he misses at the beginning of the year before being called up are all games that can lead him to faster assimilation to ML pitching, At this point what is that 40 games or so if he started every game ? It's all probably moot anyway . The Sox don't want to win in 2020 otherwise they'd have brought him up already . And if they do happen to sign some productive FA's that keep us close to a playoff berth while at the same time Robert struggles for his 1st 40 ish games I'll be here God willing to say "see they should've brought him up." I know it's his 1st year being productive and injury free but seeing so many agree with Hahn is just nauseating. Have fun missing the playoffs again next year Hahn.

Using the Dodgers as a comparable to the Sox hmmm. Look at what you said ,GOOD teams don't want their players to play small ball. Dodgers are a good team , the Sox aren't .The Dodgers top 5 HR's hitter have 122 combined HR's. They have 5 regulars with 3.0 b/WAR or better with Bellinger at 8.0. Again I don't see much justification for bunting as much as he does either but they still have a lineup full of crud and Detwiler was just as likely to get lit up as Jurrado only he wasn't. I'm just happy it's been a good night all the way around tonight. Even with Jurrado being bad he's still in there .It's not like he is so bad the Sox hit him so hard he was forced from the game . One big inning and 2 small ones. I'll take 6 runs any way I can get them most nights.

No it wasn't hindsight it was just commenting that they worked this time. Would I have preferred he not bunt so early ? Yes but it's not like murderers row was coming up so I gave RR the benefit of the doubt that at least he did what he said in his comments which was he knows his players. More in that 1st situation that the 2nd one. This time it worked whereas others only choose to make fun of RR regardless of if it worked or not, I know this is a gamethread and short and vindictive comments are par for the course and this is no place for actually baseball discussions but it just gets a little tiresome .

Oh no McCann K's with a runner in scoring position OMG what are we paying him for ? He couldn't do what he was supposed to do or wanted to do there !
-
The game thread
Sure with a line up and pitching that's bad of course they are going to lose. There is a place for self sacrifice on winning teams . Granted with a team full of good players maybe RR still does it and that's why we all want him gone. Many players get greeted in the dugout for hitting behind runners as if they got a hit.Everyone appreciates it even if we all don't.

So you can tell me with certainty that when situations change outcomes remain the same ? You must have that green infinity stone.

The game thread
Never say no DP possible because people line into DP's or even other way's. A k and runner thrown out trying to advance and i could name others. Gus your a good guy but I find it odd when people tell me because of the results such as HR's after the bunts that we were likely to hit this guy well no matter what, When people start telling me this before the games start that we will hit well against a certain pitcher or not hit against a certain pitcher I will start believing in psychic powers but telling me whats happening as it's happening is not a revelation.
-
The game thread
Your arguments are baseball stupid 101 if it was that easy in the age of massive K's how does anyone ever fail to advance a runner ?
-
The game thread
Maybe we can add Robert to that list next year.
-
The game thread
You know what the bunts did. Advanced runners to 3rd with 1 out. SF scored 1 ,a single scored the other . AFer that there was no need to bunt the HR's just added to the lead .
-
The game thread
And getting us runs and giving away outs. Are you just being contrarian here ? We have faced plenty of stiffs and not got many runs. Why not just be objective and say hey the bunts produced runs and we're ahead 5-0 . Nope half of you just bash for the sake of making fun of the guy. I don't like him any more than most but when things work give him credit.

The game thread
Ok if you are going to be unreasonable and make non sensenscal posts I have no further use to debate this. You know hitters can't do things just because they have to or want to otherwise how do any teams ever win if everyone does exactly what they have to or need to do. All games would be 30 runs per side if what you say is true.
-
The game thread
And how many times have we said that this year.? I didn't know we had a team of All Stars.
-
The game thread
so 2 bunts result in 2 runs plus a HR with a guy on base. This is not an argument to support RR just saying so far it's worked out twice and we added extr runs and it' 4-0 after ,.. make that 5-0 before the 3rd inning is finished. McCann !!

The game thread
No sounds like your point was a hitter can hit a GB to the right side any time he wants to and you know that isn't the case.
-
The game thread
We'll see I guess, bull pen is well rested but someone today is gong to give up runs today.
-
The game thread
If Detwiler was an opener that would be a good 3 innings but I'm sure they will leave him in until he gives up at least 1 run.
