  1. No problem. He often gets overlooked when talking about the elite players.
  2. You have to include Rendon in that list . Seager was injured last year and his fWAR in 2016 was 7.0 and 2017 was 5.9 totaling 12.9, 2015 was a rookie with limited AB's Bryant 2018 2.3 due to some injuries 2017 6.7 ,2016 7.9 , 2015 6.1. Totaling 19.7 Rendon 2016 4.3 , 2017 6.7 ,2018 6.3 Totaling 17.3 3 of last 5 year had 6+ Correa has never had a 6.0 War but he also has only had 1 season with over 600PA the rest have been in the 400's due to injuries and rookie year. Baez had a 5.3 last year which was his only year higher than a 2.3 . Breakout campaign to be sure but not enough great years yet to be called a superstar.
  3. Maybe you shouldn't trust your feelings. They sort of betrayed you with Machado. Just like with Machado the fans don't matter when it comes to doing business. The fans only matter when looking for someone to blame.
  4. Aren't we supposed to give links when quoting any particular article ?
  5. You brought that subject up not chisox59 and all he said was well if that was the case he wouldn't be wasting service time. He never actually said he shouldn't have been brought up unless you had a previous disagreement with him where he did say that . You also were the one to bring up a grievance. So you re arguing about something that didn't happen and a grievance that probably never would have been filed had it happened. I'll bow out now. Just seems rather silly, moot. irrelevant immaterial and inconsequential for both of you.
  6. Some of you guys are as clingy as hemorrhoids. Why chase info they don't have. Chill. Nothing they say will resolve the situation any faster . Do you actually need someone to get your hopes up ? There are plenty of good posts pro and con about the Sox chances of signing of Harper. Pick the ones that make the most sense to you if you can't make up your mind then also choose he won't sign with the Sox to temper your expectations.
  7. Are we arguing the merits of a grievance that never existed nor was ever hinted at ?
  8. It's a hell of a deal for Hicks . He is like the guy the Sox are trying to turn Adam Engel into. He was nothing until he was 27. Only 2 years of actually being a good player. I'm pretty sure the thoughts of perhaps having to get a real job as recently as a few years ago make a 7 year $70M contract at age 29 look like he hit the lottery.
  9. Is being "elevated" some kind of new medical treatment ? Oh Maybe good OLD Bruce meant evaluated.
  10. Maybe someone should fix all the mistakes in that article. Covey hasn't been outrighted to Charlotte either has he ? Gomex is still there in the article, I don't think the Sox still have Bruce Rondon or Diego Goris ?
  11. That doesn't mean they won't try again, They will . We all know that. Plenty of really good FA's next year.
  12. Not a teachable moment for us. Maybe for them but maybe not. We'll see what Harper ends up going for. If it's in the $325M range when the Sox supposed offer to Machado was a whopping $350M (according to Rosenthal) if all incentives were met and all options vested then they easily could offer $325 guaranteed to Harper. Let's see what they learned shall we ?
  13. Maybe ,Doesn't matter , Water under the bridge. No way to know for sure. If anyone wants to imagine that's the case to make themselves feel worse go for it.
  14. Guess that's why I missed it. I don't normally miss Sox signings.
  15. I totally missed on the Sox minor league signings of 3 guys from last years pen, Jeanmar Gomez LHP Xavier Cedeno, Hector Santiago.
  16. I can agree with this but don't expect his elbow to hold up for too long.
  17. Yea those losses suck to teams ahead of you in the playoff race. Gus isn't a very good defenseman but he has been the key to the Hawks much improved power play. Hawks need a good defenseman badly. They give up way too many breakaways and odd man rushes.
  18. If Clay Buchholz is your answer for an innings eater then I seriously question your baseball knowledge. How in the hell is Buchholz an innings eater ? Do you even bother to look at his innings pitched the last few years ? 2018 Age 33 98.1 IP His season didn't start till May 20th and ended Sept 13th because of a flexor mass strain, the same area of his arm which brought an end to Buchholz’s 2017 campaign. It ended his season prematurely again, although unlike last time, there was no apparent need for surgery: rest and an injection of platelet-rich plasma to help the healing process was the prescribed treatment . 2017 Age 32 7.1 IP missed nearly the entire 2017 season with the Phillies due to a partial tear in the flexor tendon in his right arm. You do know an innings eater should actually eat innings at the minimum 150 IP per year for at least a few years in a row. He hasn't pitched that many since 2014. His pitching elbow is an injury waiting to happen. How the hell do you think Buchholz is an innings eater ? Now to see the definition of an innings eater go look at Ivan Nova innings pitched stats just so you know for next time.
  19. My prediction for next year is that John Jay retires because he can't even get a minor league deal and Yonder Alonso gets a minor league deal late in the off season.
  20. Find me an innings eater with upside that we wouldn't have to trade prospects for .
  21. Jimenez will play no doubt about that so will Palka, Delmonico is a nobody, You might be the only one who still wants to see Engel. I'm good with him as a defensive replacement, Delmonico AAAA fodder 27 in JULY ,Engel 27 already . I don't consider them kids. Span will play better defense than anyone but Engel. Our pitchers do need someone out there to actually catch the ball when you have Jimenez in LF and Palka in RF for the majority of the year. Yes I'm hoping Jay gets released before the 1st game.
