  1. Why ? He did what free agents do . He took the most money. I hope he does great and makes the Sox regret their stupidity, arrogance, short-sightedness, buffoonery ,ineffectualness, smallness and irrelevance even more.
  2. Hey Manny , since you won't be using those black and white gloves can I have one ?
  3. I didn't actually count how many times he said it but I had to SMH and chuckle knowingly every time.
  4. Same as me except for the Padres part. I am not remotely interested in rooting for any other team, Sox for life for better or worse....unlike our ex-wives .
  5. Over/under on how many times Balta has called the Sox FO clowns today is 7.5 .
  6. I wonder if, when Reinsdorf was a kid , he was the guy making money from 3 card monte or the shell game.
  7. Yea it's called aging for a reason. You reach a peak physically then decline especially when you are at the top of the list in games played every year. it's the Frank Thomas diminishing skills clause just presented differently. God forbid the Sox FO ever gives in to a genuine difference maker .No they just have to have it their way. My way or the highway and Manny took that highway to SD.
  8. I was thinking if Machado doesn't make the HOF he might regret going to a big ballpark in SD over our band box, But then again that $300M pillow will be nice and cushy to sleep on.
  9. You weren't the first nor the last to be taken in by a con artist.
  10. If this had happened Friday imagine all the weekends lost in a blur of alcohol and drugs.
  11. Machado was a very important piece. Great offensively and defensively at 3rd base .Same age as a lot of guys we have on the roster we keep giving chances to but actually a vet with a lot of good years behind him. Not an injury prone guy . Plays just about every game every year. He fit everything the Sox could ve wanted in a market that they couldn't have hoped to be better. I totally understand why this is so crushing to so many. When all your prospects are getting injured and failing and the fan base is ready to abandon hope Machado represented a brighter future and a chance to renew faith in the organization.
  12. A rebuild the proper way might actually work if any of our draft choices became good. Just add that to the list of failures.
  13. It seems pretty obvious this was the plan all along. And I 'm sure they had the market for Manny pretty well figured out. What they didn't expect most likely was the Padres jumping in which I called back on page 236. They wern't going to budge from what they thought was fair and unable to go beyond fair because that's the price you must pay in the ideal situation for an elite offensive and defensive talent in his prime. In my mind it's all on Reinsdorf to approve the money and he didn't.
  14. Probably because it all comes down to Reinsdorf . Anger at his underlings, though deserved, is misdirected anger .
  15. Just looking for my own personal silver lining. I was prepared for this. Wasn't expecting it but hey when you follow the same organization for 50 years you kind of get an idea not to get your hopes up too high. Anything good that happens I treat it as a pleasant surprise.
  16. Maybe it's time to start a boycott the home opener campaign.
  17. At least now I don't have to argue with all our members who thought 2020 was going to be the year to supplant the Indians and how Joc Pederson playing CF was such a good idea.
  18. Yep probably a lot of incentive clauses about All Star games and MVP awards and maybe even one of those Frank Thomas specials about diminishing skills. ALways stuff to lower the amount when money talks and bullshit walks.
  19. This X infinity. Yes Hahn can be blamed but ultimately it always comes down to Reinsdorf each and every time without a doubt.
  20. Way back on page 236. No one gave it a 2nd thought back then . Fathom was the only one to say anything.
  21. Chance that Lozano gets angry again and chastises Nightengale ? 0 %
  22. Reynaldo Lopez posted a minuscule 1.38 ERA over his final seven starts last season, achieving a goal of getting his season ERA under 4.00 at 3.91. The right-hander's early target for 2019 takes that number a step lower. "Last year my ERA was a three something," said Lopez through interpreter Billy Russo. "I would like to have an ERA below three." Everything coming from Merkin from whitesox.xom
