  1. Cease already had one too. Giolito also.
  2. Ha You think anyone cares if your life isn't easy ? Vote ELOY !!
  3. Anderson because hahahaha on the DFA troll comment, Moncada and Eloy.
  4. It says he is cheap and makes up a story regarding just how cheap. Nothing anti-semitic in it. We are getting plenty of Jerry is cheap comments here also. This just takes it to a higher plain.
  5. I found this in the responses. https://shmorts.com/f/jerry-reinsdorf-spotted-at-multiple-coinstars-in-northern-suburbs Good for some chuckles.
  6. I know I have been arguing about the other signings not being as bad as everyone says but let me just say that I voted them an F for the entire off season but that is based on The Machado Mess. If they convert on him all the other signings no one would care about. It's the planning to get him and the failure with a ridiculous offer and lame excuses that rightly have so many upset. Machado or Harper meant so much , was so important to restoring faith in the organization that it literally depressed the majority of the fans. For that they deserve the F and also an F U.
  7. I guess this answers the question about rock bottom.
  8. No not $45M because they still would've had to sign others so I ask again what's the difference between who they signed and who they could've signed ? $10-15M maybe if you can prove those other signings fit the exact same bill as those they did sign? Most can't provide any argument that fits because the Sox would've had to wait till March to do it because most signed late for a reason which was they didn't get the money they wanted early and had to settle. Subtract Alonso and Jay because they had a specific purpose to luring Machado and to some degree so did the others . Once that went to shit at least Nova, Herrera and Colome still provide protection for the young arms in the rotation or in the BP. I will give you Alonso and Jay as wasted because at least many posters could agree that unless we got Machado those moves would suck.
  9. I can answer that since Ptatc now has. Those mediocre acquisitions were made with getting Machado in mind , to solidify the starting rotation and to help the young relievers, possible get something at the trade deadline and really just fill the roster in positions that needed to be filled.. Some moves need to be done early. This is the time when you are most like;y to misread the market Each one has to be broken down . Alonso/Jay Manny Moves. Pure and simple don't make a lot of sense NOW. So can't really say they suck because they don't if we had got Machado. Colome/Narvaez. Decent arguments to be made on both sides. Certainly not a slam dunk bad move. Herrera? Top reliever .Has had a great career. Paid market rate . His peers like Familia and Miller got just as much if not more. ALso not a slam dunk bad deal. Protect the young arms, made the team a little more attractive for Manny. Also trade deadline bait. Who else ? Oh my favorite Nova. 1 year left on contract when traded for @$10M gave up a lottery ticket and int'l slot money. An early move for a proven innings eater necessary with a young and injured (Rodon) staff. Very crucial to have mostly guaranteed innings eaten . No one can say he will stay healthy this year but he does have a 3 year consistent track record. Not many can say that and also be had for just a year. Shields can but who wanted him back at 37 years old. Nova's 32. Gio Gonzales might want more than 1 year and he's still unsigned ? How long were SOx supposed to wait on filling that need ? McCann ? Young at 28 . Possible still has upside other wise you are looking at 32-36 year olds. Back up catcher not really worth saying his 2.5 salary was wasted money . Maldanado same salary but incentives for extra $1.4M so what are we really crying about here ? I mean sure better deals were out there when you look at the late developing market. But how long do you wait when filling holes or trying to make Manny happy ? What is really the difference between what the Sox spent and what they could've spent ? Every team could ask these same questions. Remember how excited a bunch of posters here thought wow we get Machado , Joc Pederson, we have a good BP we're ready to compete ? Just add Keuchel or someone and let's roll? I didn't hear any complaints then about the other money being spent so badly . It's only after the Machado loss that we all get pissed off and say everything sucks !
  10. Which is why after not getting Machado ALonso won't reach the required AB's to be vested next year. Now Palka should be blocking him at least for left DH. But still doesn't change the fact the moves were made to lure Machado and get closer to competing. Remember Joc Pederson ? So many wanted him for a shot at competing even if it was just for 2 years and we'd have to probably give up a prospect and put his slow ass in CF ? Now you get to nit pick and use biased rehashed history to say but but they couldv'e spent less? Nonsense.
  11. I never said Kenny made sense. I said the opposite in fact. But it is also possible that KW and the whiny fans both make no sense. There are plenty of valid arguments when talking about Machado but not as many when talking about the rest of the off season. That's just pissed off at the world whining.
  12. Because it's been the only way we got anything back in trades at the deadline and maybe one of these times we get something useful back. ALso all moves were made with getting Manny in mind. Maybe you would recall that before he went to San Diego people wanted to actually compete this year. I always said it was nuts with the starting pitching but people around here liked the bullpen . The vets also protect the young arms from getting thrown into high stress innings early in their careers. Why all of a sudden is the argument now that well we are going to suck so use and abuse the kids or Mr. Reliable Nate Jones ? Assume we got Machado before making statements because that's how the team was being prepared before they lost him.
  13. But maybe not . Will Gio take just 1 year? ANd it's also a very long time to wait to situate your starting staff.
  14. It's just the whiny narrative going around right now for guys we paid less than $10M a yr. on for basically 1 year contracts. Oh no heaven forbid the Sox paid market rate to fill roster spots that needed filling regardless. Everyone expected the Sox to spend $300M but all of a sudden they were supposed to guess the entire market accurately and spend a lot less to surround Machado with crap or injured pitchers making up 3/5 of our starting staff. If you don't what I mean by that last sentence it's everyone telling me Bucholz and Miley and all these other pitchers who pitched less than 100 innings last year could been signed for cheaper than Nova to eat innings. Then throw Rodon into that mix and there's 3/5 of the rotation being injured last year. It boggles my mind that fans here think those guys are innings eaters who had injuries in 2018. You need a history of eating innings . Holy shit how self explanatory does the term innings eater have to be ? All of a sudden everyone's an expert on how to pend Jerry's money and it's always after the fact.
  15. But it's super generous for an unproven guy so would have to be some give on the players side for extra years like into early 30's.
  16. Thats what I was thinking I mean don't the Sox have him on the cheap til 28 or 29 anyway ?
  17. Because most of the time there's nothing preventative that can be done to avoid things like this. Throwing over hand is an un natural arm movement and doing it repeatedly at high speed releasing a weighted spheroid causes stress to shoulders and elbows. The plethora of injuries and TJ surgery's all across baseball should inform your common sense of this.
  18. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/white-sox/white-sox-talk-podcast-white-sox-prospect-alec-hansen-opens-about-his-lost-season No longer a ghost. Good stuff from Chuck
  19. What's up with Perlini lately ? Hat Trick last night almost had a 4th goal with a puck that trickled through the goalie hit the post then laid on the goal line. 6 goals in last 5 games. Didn't realize he was still only 22 and number 12 pick in 2014 draft. Can Kane get to 50 goals in the last 13 games ?
  20. There's got to be a morning after If we can hold on through the night We have a chance to find the sunshine Let's keep on looking for the light Oh, can't you see the morning after? It's waiting right outside the storm Why don't we cross the bridge together And find a place that's safe and warm? It's not too late, we should be giving Only with love can we climb It's not too late, not while we're living Let's put our hands out in time There's got to be a morning after We're moving closer to the shore I know we'll be there by tomorrow And we'll escape the darkness We won't be searching any more.
  21. We all know the Machado Mess was a disaster compounded into a catastrophe when Kenny made about as much sense as a preschooler trying to explain how Machado could've made more by "just staying healthy " (up to $350M) but they somehow couldn't afford $300M . I mean that's ridiculous . You can afford $350M but not 300M ????
  22. Balta always had disdain for the front office and that's when I used to agree with him. He saw things clearly. Now he feels bad like the rest of us about the Machado Mess and is taking it out on every minor move the Sox made just to fill the roster for a year. Hate yourself for believing the hype . hell keep hating the front office until they show they can be successful but be reasonable and stop making things up to fit the narrative or acting like you would've done it better if you can't provide proof that you HAD better ideas from the start. It's nauseating.
  23. More than he ever has actually. I read just about everything on here. Saying he just hit a 464 ft HR or AVi will probably have a bounce back year with Tampa Bay or Avi would've been better than Jay and a few more along those lines.
  24. If you ever actually responded to what I was asking of you, to provide some basis for your complaints instead f making up imaginary scenarios I could take you more seriously.
