Sound baseball reasons don't fly around here much these days though I do disagree with with the overpays being pretty much everyone else since there are also sound baseball reasons for players like Nova, Colome and Herrera also.

Outside of Machado everyone else this year was going to be a turd anyway. Well except Herrera and Colome still needed them since trading relievers is the only way the Sox think they can add a little more young talent and to protect the young arms from too many high stress innings.

Ever since Machado was botched and the injuries have started piling up everything the Sox do has come under the gun from our knowledgeable fan base of diehards. Should've spend more, should've spent less, should've had surgery before, need a new medical staff, should've signed him instead of him . It's ugly round here. The utter insanity of the Manny thrill ride has disintegrated from thinking the Sox could complete this year with Machado , Joc and another pitcher into every part of the Sox organization sucks.

Why do you or anybody care so much about wasting Jerry's money ? We should want it spent. It's not like it goes in a fund to help the team in coming years. You all act like it's less money to spend on your Xmas present from Uncle Jerry.

The only time I saw really good curve balls up close and personal was when my Dad used to throw some big old benders with the 16" softball.

Smart also involved spending money and when the bottom line is all important we know why the Sox did not venture into those waters when the opportumity was there.

Hallelujah ! A person who makes sense. Nova fills a specific role that not many 1 year starters could have unless you wanted Shields back. To sign injured pitchers from last year or allow young guys who can't even get guys out in AAA into the rotation places an unnecessary burden on the young arms in the rotation and in the BP. Could Nova suck ? Sure he can but he's a more likely candidate to eat innings than those others.

He was taken out and Zack Thompson brought in . Promptly got a DP ball. Jones hurt ? Minaya got released because he was pitching poorly didn't he ?

I don't think Jones has got a single batter out in his last 2appearances and given up 5 runs. ERA 16.62 now.

And that lack of talent assessment is most likely due to not paying the right talent assessors nor paying to extend them into the areas that need to be reached.

Well we call Reinsdorf cheap and maybe 100 yrs from now someone will look ai payroll and also determine he wasn't cheap. But there are other ways the owner can be cheap.

Great to see Crow get a shutout. 48 saves. Perlini with 8th goal in seven games after sitting for 4 straight. Hawks record is amazing considering they have given up the 2nd most goals in the NHL while Ottawa, who has given up just a few more, might be the worst team in the NHL. 5th straight win.

Can't argue with the results when he bats cleanup. He is hitting .407 this spring.. May be just a confidence thing. Throw him in at clean up to say we beleive in you kiddo.
