  1. Pull rate HR.Breaks the tie for the team lead.
  2. Have you looked at the projection lately on Robert on Fangraphs ? They are really low .For example even though his last two years he had a career year and played over 100 games both years , all projections had him playing 48 games. He had already surpassed the BsR and defensive WAR projections but far below offensive WAR projections.
  3. Yes I do but don't know how helpful I will be. It's a nice place to see a game. A lot easier getting in and out of the parking lots there than Dodger stadium plus there's always a decent size contingent of Sox fans there. I went there for the ALCS deciding game against the Angels in 2005 . That was fun. The buddy I went with got on TV with his young son on his lap and it's immortalized on the World Series DVD, which included that full game during, the 7th inning Pepsi Fan Cam. I was right next him but it was a close in shot .
  4. When you said if JR decides to spend etc. my odd brain told the only way JR decides to spend is if was part of his agreement with Ishbia like I'll let you have double secret control but no one can know because I want to look good to the fans before I'm gone. I know this probably goes against all kinds of league rules especially since the Ishbia have not completed the sale. But I'd love to see what debts the Ishbia's agree to pay down or off.
  5. Never under JR very possible under Ishbia's. Also that still doesn't give you the built in advantages of being on the West or East Coast. I will say though the Cubs do a good job of attractiing overseas talent or they all don't go to the West Coast. East Coast teams have favorable media coverage . I'm no expert on the league side TV problems that the RSN are presenting but that also hurts the Sox like it hurts other small market teams . I'm just going to guess the Dodgers Mets ,Yankees and Angel or at least 3 of those teams make a whole lot more money than the rest of the league on their TV deals. Being in the Midwest in a 2 team city is worse than it is on either coast.
  6. I've also brought this up a few times and it hurts the Sox more than the small market teams because they don't get as much money in the draft or the revenue sharing benefits as other teams in our division .
  7. They do but they also spend money where other teams don't on players with some injury history and they buy them in bulk . So like this year they have lots on injuries but have doo much talent making so much money they hardly flinch. Their pitching staff isn't any better than the Sox this year. But it'll probably end up better because they'll have better guys coming back from injuries while the Sox traded their current best pitcher and their 2nd best starter, Shane Smith, hit the wall or was injured or both and started to fall off. He'll be back soon but I highly doubt he'll be pitching long enough in starts to pick up any wins on his record.
  8. You too. I'm still optimistic as are many many on the board and we are not delusional or suckers . You quoting the record means zip. Things have improved since rock bottom. That's not a ringing endorsement of Getz but more rational people seem to think he done much better in his 2nd year once he started to fire and hire. My attitude is no different from the coaches and podcasters who take a more middle ground approach rather than an emotionally imbalanced one.
  9. I'm pretty sure that was a collective effort with Colson since you can talk about the work with Fuller in AZ and also the analytics people who suggested to the coaches that Colson might be a good candidate for the Torpedo bat based on batted ball data. That only happened during the recent TB series a week ago. Props to Colson too that he was open to the suggestion .
  10. I think that's where I have fundamental differences with a lot of people here. I just don't agree that being in the negative majority or on your own turf should allow you to abuse people. Stringing up people for being a different color or wiping out entire civilizations brought people together too as did empires wanting to expand their turf. I think we go a little overboard in our testosterone filled fandom. I know it's just a message board so there's no actual violence but it is concerning that being on the "right" side of the argument gets you more leeway. Might makes right or majority rules is extremely antiquated. I was watching the ReKap podcast after the TDL passed and Ryan McGuffey was hosting it and he does a lot of interaction with fans through the comments and fans were threatening Jed Hoyer . And McGuffey point blank told them he wouldn't condone threats of violence even if it's just empty threats or people blowing off steam. In real life blowing off steam gets a lot of innocent people killed by a lot of idiots who can't control their impulses and violent outbursts.
  11. Exactly. I like the way you phrased it that the Dodgers don't have any special sauce. The money factor and location allows them to get top domestic and imported players. When the Dodgers spend massive amounts on guys who get hurt or don't produce ,it just make the pennant race tighter rather than crippling the franchise from doing it again like the Danks money convinced JR to never pay for long term or expensive pitching contracts. Of course mostly JR always had excuses not to spend in lot of different areas . It was just BS. The older he got the more excuses he gave.
  12. To be completely transparent I thought the Cease down year after the near Cy Young season hurt his market and I thought the board overvalued him in much the same way they did with Robert. So I wasn't bothered by Orioles fans so much. However Orioles management was still in a position to offer better than the Sox got for him. It's like reading the MLBTR comments section where a lot of Cubs fan didn't want Houser. Well they got their wish yet Cub fans are outraged Cubs mostly sat on their hands at the TDL as they should be. Ultra conservative at the TDL doesn't win you Championships. You want to see some calculated risks at the very least. I'm glad Tampa was thinking outside the box a bit because this follow the leader BS of hoarding position player prospects over actual MLB production over a good stretch of games like Houser did sucks for a rebuilding team. I know his peripherals weren't great but they weren't alarming either. Sometimes getting doubleplays with a good sinker and GB rate is better than wasting pitches getting K's. That hurt Cease . Lots of K's but too many pitches with the walks he allowed. Also Houser had a better FB than in the past because he made a commitment to his career and the health of his body that he hadn't done before. Maybe it was the Twinkies that doomed Moncada. No one could force Houser to take better care of himself. That part of development is all on the player. Can't be burning the candle at both ends stuffing your face with crap. Takes 100% dedication to your craft for all but the most talented to make it . It's gone before most realize they could have gave a better effort. That's why teams look for high character hard working guys. At least if they fail it won't be for lack of dedication.
  13. There's no doubt that former top prospects get more chances than guys without the pedigree. The feels angle is coming from a guy who just said he's getting sick of people here having hope and being positive and basically calling us all suckers because the team is still bad and JR was fooling us all with his dangling the carrot philosophy.
  14. A lot has to happen for this to work out but I'm rooting for it. These other GMs just don't want to part with good prospects for a guy as inconsistently unproductive and consistently injured. They also don't like admitting they were wrong . I'm now rooting for the Rays because they took a shot on Houser. The rest of the teams can especially the Phillies and Mets can f*** off. I'm glad the Orioles fizzled out because of their refusal to trade prospects for Cease. They still have great young hitters though .
  15. Do you boo the coaches for being optimistic ? Are we all supposed to be the same personalities of doom and gloom ? Should we all apologize for liking the rookies playing well ? Did you throw ups reading how thrilled people were yesterday in the game thread against the Phillies ? Is kind of sad all the doom and gloomers find it so hard to compliment positive things but find it so easy to rip things apart. Heck the Pope would lambasted here for being too Holy.
  16. Another preemptive strike. Just cannot wait for it to actually happen. Hey I called the doomsday scenario 1st because I'm an unhappy Sox fan but if he does trade some of them I reserve the right to be unhappy about the return.
  17. So that just means they aren't serious about winning the World Series.
  18. Wouldn't be surprised to see him try his hand on the OF. He's not the fastest guy , about as fast Beni . 26.8 ft/sec for Beni , 26.7 for Sosa. Surprising sprint speeds after the top 2 Robert and Baldwin Tim Elko 27.8 Korey Lee 27.7 Kyle Teel 27.7 Michael A.Taylor 27.6
  19. If your going to spend $20M there are better ways to spend it. Has nothing to do with JR. Plenty wish the Sox had signed some quality relief pitchers who are always hot commodities at the trade deadline but seems like that only applies to the high performance guys. I'm not saying I know where to spend it. I just know where not to spend it. The chances of Robert staying healthy enough and performing at a high enough level while making $20M to be a valuable trade chip seems pretty remote . If his performance over the last 3 weeks has convinced you otherwise we' ve been deceived by his potential way too many times to trust that he's anything but a bundle of talent in a too fragile body. This is not a Garrett Crochet situation . Maybe put that $20M towards trying to identify a couple of Crochet type talents who are making minimal amounts of money who will be available. We may have one in Grant Taylor yet people here were suggesting trade him before he has even scratched the surface of his potential. That's crazy. The Sox also identified 2 pretty good arms via the Rule 5 draft that didn't come close to costing $20M that may help the team for years to come. There is blocked talent languishing in other organizations that Getz is trying to trade Robert and Houser for right now. It's not my money either but just wishing the money is spent on 1 often injured player with no future here seems rather crazy and lazy. I prefer they make smarter choices with what little they are going to spend . I don't know who or what those smarter choices are to spend $20M on but I don't get paid to make those decisions. There's a whole world of players out there and I'm not going to pretend I can pick just 1 player to spend it on that will actually help the rebuild.
  20. So what are you saying that you want or don't want Roberts option picked up ? It'll be moot when he traded. I already stated my case plenty of times that Robert wouldn't deserve to make $20M next year. There's practically no chance of doing it that will result in a favorable trade for the Sox based on his last 2 years of production and his massive injury history and what they would be paying him.
  21. Well I need help dealing with advanced pitching stats so I'm learning more. Plus the last part of the podcast sounded just like the arguments I was making today about why you don't pick up the option on Robert. You take the best offer and don't look back. But we'll see how it turns out tomorrow.
  22. Today's CHGO podcast post game show. Very informative info especially on Colson switch to the Torpedo bat.
  23. I'm mostly writing but still here. watched the post game Show now watching the CHGO podcast show on YouTube hosted by Sean Anderson who does a terrific job providing information and where I got how the Sox data indicating Colson was a good candidate to try the torpedo bat . Since he tried it he got results right away and has been on fire since that 2nd game of the TB series. I'll post the link to the podcast . I watch many Sox podcasts regularly. Edit: I put the link in the White Sox winner thread since the game thread will be put in the archives tomorrow so more people can see it.
