  1. I don't even like thinking that. Seems like to dream the impossible dream , Man of LA Mancha, tilting at windmills stuff.
  2. Big glove there by Robert ! He went a long way turn that down !
  3. Burke FB got some sizzle on it and a Uncle Charlie is a big dude .
  4. I wholeheartedly agree with that. I'm not a huge fan of grading trades right away but we all do it . Teams do it for different reasons. In the Twins case it was to get rid of contractual obligations more than anything. They accomplished what they wanted to do so someone might give them an A. Trades are never really based only on what you got for what you gave up. It takes years sometimes to come to conclusions that are reliable. Some people think if you win the World Series you automatically win a trade even if there was no significant contribution from who the Series winner got back. So in that case it's too early to give grades Houser got back 15+ years of MLB service time and one of the guys was a former top 50 prospect . Houser has about 50 games left before he's a Free Agent on a team that needs a minor miracle to make the playoffs.
  5. Bowden...nuff said. No one should be using his opinion as proof of anything.
  6. I love a big picture look at roster moves. Very important. Getz wants to build a solid bullpen. Many were particularly worried about the BP in the off-season but Getz put a lot of trust in Katz and Bannister and stockpiling arms. It's gone fairly well on a rebuilding team that had room to cycle through numerous arms . April was rough as I suspected it would be but it seemed each month the pen got better and better. Don't know if stats will back me up on that. But lots of guys went up and down and the more consistent ones stuck. Slowly but quietly the Sox ended up with a decent BP. Not great but borderline good since about the middle of June. Bullpens always cause a lot of consternation and moreso when the offense is bottom of the barrel bad which it was until the slow but steady influx of the positional prospects. As they got more comfortable and the coaches reiterated hunting and turning on fastballs in hitters counts, they settled in after the All Star break.
  7. I need more Mead in my goblet !
  8. With Meidroth and Vargas injured probably not going to be the ideal lineup anyway. Just like today . Sox aren't going to make the playoffs. You're going to get a top draft pick this year. Might as well finish bad enough to get a top 3 pick. It's not like they went from bad to great in a week. Just enjoy the ride if you can.
  9. 11game HR streak comes to an end but still got the W.
  10. Pretty good BP stretch since 6/19 2.90 ERA .4th in baseball?
  11. When you never go that long your arm isn't used to that workload.
  12. One hit for the whole Angel lineup and that was a little dribbler .
  13. Hardly anyone goes 110 pitches anymore.Wouldnt recommend it.
