  1. I dont understand the thinking of most of the people on this board who think we are a big market team, who is going to pick up these huge free agents in the offseason. Forget about getting the marquee names in the top or the order. If you want to improve the sox lineup, check out the black hole at the bottom of the order. To succeed in our below average division, with below average money, you need to imrove average players. How many people saw Paulie's offensive production coming??? Or how much did it cost us to bring in Maggs and Carlos??? These were not huge free agent pickups. The sox will never be the cubs or the yankees, phillies or red sox. We need to develop a team, not buy one
  2. He has long been a clutch hitter late in the games, but im still sick of the "Jose ball" that he plays. I would love to see some stats on how many 1 for 5 games he had with four k's and 1 bomb. We shoulda saved money going into this season on his contract to begin with. And in response to the Joe Crede comment, I would rather have joe hitting 190 on a different team, because regardless of his above avergae fielding, his huge swing will never make it at this level :fthecubs
  3. the team would be better with maggs gone, valentin gone, joe crede gone, carl gone, and some fa's in their place. Need a decent lead off man, and Beltre playing my third base, I would rather have him at third than maggs in right. Cause you know that teams like the yankees have no place for him
  4. I hope everyone re-thinks their praise of Farnworth, I am always happy when he comes in games for the flubs, because I know he'll blow it. As for swing and miss guys, they are not always the best closers, look at Kolb's numbers in MIL. He barely ever strikes anyone out and his era and save percentage is great. Rivera is one of the best closers of all time, and his most dangerous pitch is not his strike out pitch, ask anyone is the bigs, its his cutter that shatters your bat and induces ground balls. A close is not always a strike out pitcher, or fireballer (koch!!!!) it takes a killer instinct to close out games, and farnsworth, Kim, Hawkins, mota, dont have it
  5. I heard BMAC hit upper 90's on his fastball at times during the season, I am not sure where he got 80's
  6. How about Garland as trade bait, for a box of balls and maybe another massage table. I dont know about you, but im more worried about Garland's constant 5 run innings than some stiffness in Freddy's arm. Im waiting for anyone to step up other than our top three and pitch a decent game.
  7. who cares if its not josh fields the third baseman, I still think joe crede should be trade bait, with his non-energy and absolutely terrible hitting approach. HAs anyone ever seen someone with a worse 2 strike swing???
  8. I've been watching BMAC for some time now, its about time to see us moving some prospects up the list. As far as im concerned, i want to see what he can do in triple A ball right now
