Good move. I am a Jesse Crain fan. If he is healthy he can help us. I am impressed with Sox moves this off season

Anybody else left feeling a little disappointed?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 12:52 AM) The 2 teams who went to the world series last year won wild card play in games. If you're a division contender, you're a world series contender. Kind of along my line of thought. I was going to say that with all the moves we have made this off season, and the return to health of some players, how can you say we are not World Series contenders? -
Jordan Danks played a useful role as a the 4th or 5th OF'er and have some good skills as a defender and some speed on the base paths plus every once in awhile he could hit a game winning bomb. Good luck Jordan

I wonder when the last time we actually went to arbitration? I think it's a good thing to settle amicably. But, what role will Guerrra hav with this team?

QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 03:40 AM) I'm BACCCKKKKKK! Seriously though. I'm surprised to see this much positivity. I know he has stayed in great shape, who knows. Maybe he can still play the outfield and have a good arm. Hit .220. Sounds like Jordan Danks to me.. But whatever. Let him try. Nothing bad can come out of it. And you refer to yourself in the third person. I love it! -

Welcome back to the organization. Maybe he will contribute something positive. I see no reason for the angst over this signing -
Great team mate and could hit that ball a mile. I figured he meant it when he said he would retire but I think he could have still hit 25-35 homers , walked a lot, but only hit like .220 or so. Anyway good luck to Adam Dunn in his future endeavors

WhiteSox and Emilio Bonifacio agree to one year, $4 million contr

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jan 6, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) Just a guess but I think if the Sox are unable to find a trade partner for Viciedo he's cut loose from the roster. I still have confidence in the Sox being able to trade Viciedo for, something. You don't just dump a 25 year old 20 plus homer guy that quickly. He can still fill a role for the Sox, if not traded -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 7, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) Yup, its a travesty nobody shares that opinion. The numbers speak for themselves. A lot of good knowledgeable baseball people, including on this board, believe he ranks just below Ricky Henderson. He deserves to be in the HOF

Great to see you newbies on the best board in baseball. Keep in mind the pick to click site come April

I really applaud this deal. I think we would have loved to get Zobrist but with Bonifacio we get a great signing of a versatile player with speed and save prospects and money. . I anticipate a possible trade coming that may send Viciedo somewhere soon. -
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 2, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) A RH bench bat that can play 3B and 2B is still sorely needed. Gordon Beckham

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 2, 2015 -> 05:53 PM) i think the Sox are done with all major moves for now. They are probably going into "lets see what we've got" mode until June or July, and adjust accordingly I think the only move they might still make is trading Dayan Viciedo but if they don't I won't mind. He can still play OF and DH and maybe a fill in once in a great while at 1B

There is always someone who has to post negative stuff trying to get a huge reaction.

I think the positive we should be looking at is th fact Garcia came back from a bad injury and played some last year but wasn't at his best and needed more at bats. He is getting that in winter ball and building up strength, etc. His performance is good to see and hopefully carries over to the 2015 season

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 03:48 PM) Carlos Rodon's ceiling is that of an ace. However, he hasn't even thrown 25 professional innings yet, so if they go a little slow with him (whether that's because he's not ready or they are saving some service time has yet to be seen, but it ultimately may work hand in hand). Between the minors and majors, I'd be surprised if he surpassed 160-170 innings. I agree with this but I would be surprised if he is on the team until September call ups. We have two new lefty relievers and the talk was he would be in the bullpen to start his career or at least the first year. Rodon has great potential and a high ceiling but as stated only 25 innings of professional innings. We have 5 starters minimum now and here are left handed. It just seems to make sense they let Rodon get a bit more seasoning. But, who knows what ST brings.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 05:30 PM) Rodon can't be traded yet, even as a PTBNL Then that is a good thing.

Why spend $8M? We Jane internal options

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 03:03 AM) Now that the Wil Myers deal is almost certain to happen, do you think the Rays trade Longo as well? He would fit perfectly on the Sox. I'd love to see a trade happen, but I would hate to see Rodon/Quintana/Anderson leave. What do you guys think? Sox Sider: WHITE SOX TO GO AFTER EVAN LONGORIA? I think we have the funds but not the young talent to give up. The Rays might want Rodon and tat is unacceptable. But, I would love a tradefor Longoria if possible

I plotted out the upcoming season using the famous Elrock graph and I say we are real good

Anybody else having trouble supporting this team?
elrockinMT replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have always had the philosophy of supporting the White Sox regardless of the way the season was/is going. I am not just a fair weather fan. I find it hard to criticize even though I do at times. I do not believe in name calling. I like al the transactions the Sox have made this off season and actually am quite impressed with what has been accomplished. I am ready for 2015 and there might even be some additional moves. As far as Cabrera is concerned I think he learned from his mistake and attribute it to the tremendous pressure youth is under to make it in this sport and get out of the poverty in which many foreign (Latin) players liver under. -
I think we should sign AJPerz to a one year deal
-
I think the real question is whether to expect John Danks to continue to show improvement in strength and endurance in the 2nd or 3rd year of recovery from a major surgery? Evidence shows it can and has happened with others. As John learns to be a PITCHER more than just a thrower that may help also. It's a coin flip I know but I am thinking that's what the Sox are counting on. Noesi needs the starting experience and to build endurance to get him past the 6th inning or so effectiveness wise. They are both just fine in the 4th or 5th starting role at this point anyway.

a real bullpen in 2015 anchored by a real closer will translate into more than 4 wins alone. From this story it seems yhe Debbie Downers are already out
