Sox to recognize two studs in Dodger series
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 20, 2011 -> 04:36 PM) Garland spent a long time in Chicago and was a quality pitcher with the White Sox and helped us gain a World Series trophy. Uribe made two of the best plays in the 9th inning of the final game of the world series, including making the final out. They deserve to be recognized. I'd imagine Garland was in Chicago before (with the angels) but this might be Uribe's first time back. The team shows their respect for two quality former players. There is nothing wrong with that. As long as we beat the Dodgers everyone should be happy-except the Dodgers

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (knightni @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:06 AM) Do pitchers like Floyd and Garland - with sinker balls - pitch better on short rest? You hear from sinkerball pitchers that they seem to do better when a bit tired. I am not sure why. Maybe when they feel stronger they tend to overthrow their off speed or sinker ball

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!
Good win. Too bad we can't find good things to say about all our players though

Indians @ White Sox, 05/19, 7:10, WCIU
Nice to see some offesne and that Floyd settled down. We can beat the Tribe two in arow and show we are serious about this thing. Keep working on the standings and there is a real good chance we see good things ahead of us

Interesting Trade Possibilities.
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 19, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) Trades are dumb at this point of the season, especially right now. The Sox are playing much better baseball recently and could easily get back in the race. At the same time, they're still 6 under and 9 games back. There's no clear indication either way which way they're going to go. A lot can happen either way. Trading right now is dumb. Very well put

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 19, 2011 -> 01:45 PM) I'll be there tonight, along with 20 friends. It's gonna get rowdy! Make headlines tomorrow. Cheer for the win and then get arrested or something for excessive celebration, if that's possible

JAKE F'N PEAVY!!!
He is a true competitor. Orel Hershiser called him a bulldog of a competitor and you have to admire that

Interesting Trade Possibilities.
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 19, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) I'd package a starting pitcher and Gordon Beckham together and put them out there to see if any team is willing to give up some young talent. Beckham is young talent. You only trade one of our starting pitchers if you truly get something of equal or better value in return. We shouldn't be engaging in this trade stuff conversation just to dump people.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 19, 2011 -> 02:22 AM) Ozzie calling for a Hit and Run with Lilli on 2nd? HOW DUMB. Now we end up with a strike him out, throw him out. Cool Ozzie. Not dumb considering we have to make something happen. If contact was made Lilli could have scored or at the least be in scoring position at 3B

Vizquel with a base hit and runners on first and third. Sox have a potent one-two punch at the top of the order

It's always good to get out of that first inning without giving up a run or ten

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) Then they should have signed someone else to be the regular at 3b rather than trying to develop the kid. After a spectacular game like last night he should not be on the bench. If you're going to treat him like this, put him in AAA for another season, let him develop there, and spend some extra money on your big league roster. Lefties hit the Tribe's hurler better

Sergio Santos
QUOTE (knightni @ May 16, 2011 -> 04:15 AM) With 19 innings pitched this season, Santos has pitched the most innings without giving up an earned run in the entire majors. I saw him pitch in Seattle in the Sunday win. He is impressive

I like Ozzie. He is a good manager

Teahen on DL, McPherson recalled from AAA
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 18, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) At least I'm coming up with arguments for my stance. "There's plenty of time" is the weakest thing you can possibly retaliate with. I think "give it time" is an argument for my stance or anyone else who believes this too

Teahen on DL, McPherson recalled from AAA
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2011 -> 06:06 PM) Playing 2b down in AAA is what the doctor ordered. His swing is a complete and utter disaster. Guy is whiffing at breaking pitches and can't touch a good fastball. If there is one thing I'm sure of, it is that I want Walker gone. I don't blame him but even while we are winning, I've seen too many bad at bats and seen some of our young guys swings get worse under his watch. Maybe but remember he turned it around last year in the majors. I just think he was rushed to the major leagues to quick and maybe Chris Sale also. They need expereince, but then again playing everyday reagrdless of your stats will give you that expereince aslo. Maybe it will be bad for awhile, but if you have what it takes in the talent dept it can work out
