QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 11:39 PM) Very nice double by Beckham. I am glad the kid is still on this team. I couldn't believe some of the rumors coming out that had him being traded
-
"We can't win em all," once said Yogi Berra or somebody. That's the great thing about baseball. Every once in awhile you get your rear end kicked, but tomorrow is a new game starting 0-0

Just checked back in. Freddie gone after 2 innings I see. I reckon that strike zone must have been really rockin and rollin

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) I am not sure, wanted to see what the experts think on this forum :-) There are "experts" and then there are us lowly Soxtalk posters

Ramon Castro with a 2 run homer. You have to admire this guy. He sits for a week and when he plays he delivers
-
Have we faced this Vinnie Kid from the Bronx before? Does he still deliver paint?

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 09:49 PM) That zone is horsehit. Worse, its been inconsistent. Somebody's gotta get tossed. The ump maybe? Garcia with 44 pitches in the 1st inning because of an incosistent zone

I was able to watch on WGN. That was a beautifully pitched game by MB. Great win
-
Let's resolve to win this game behind Big Game Freddie. I see it's on FOX but I thjink we are stuck here with a Fox broadcast of the Phillies.

QUOTE (ICP! @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) I have to go to Marriage Counseling tonight so no Sox for me....thank God for that eh... The Sky Pilot is a good holy man

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) I heard a guy call into The Score last night and tell Matt Abbatacola that he wanted Dye back because he was much better in RF than Quentin. Bet it wasn't CQ

Who do the Royals have left? Let's get Butler

Beckham

This IS important baseball news B)

It is troubling seeing Jenks struggle. The twinkies game was a complete melt down and velocity was mot there and it ddin't appear he had much on the ball or good command. Even when he pitched in the Seatlle win on Tuesday I didn't think he had much on the ball and the defense saved him. Last night again nothing on the ball. It makes you wonder if he is hurt or just has lost confidence. Putz and Thornton are better options at this point.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 03:32 AM) Could swing him in a 3 team deal to get Huddy in a Oswalt deal. Guess that is what makes baseball such a great game-the fans can go crazy with crazy ideas

Saw the game on WGN. That was a well played game. Danks looked superb

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 10:51 PM) Really, I disagree on this. When you look at the season stats for the guy who was supposed to be our #1 starter for example, he put up a 7-6 record and a 4.6 ERA before he went down. Our #2 starter hasn't been that stellar either. Yet, we have a run differential right now of +34, 2nd best in the division and a notch below the Twins, and that number is consistent to within a game or two of our record. If I look at the roster, there's still only a handful of guys I'd say overachieved. Konerko first and foremost, followed a ways back by Rios, Putz, Vizquel, Garcia. You can argue that basically everyone we were counting on to carry this team except Konerko has underachieved and we're still pretty close to where we should be. Balta, Am I reading your post right that you think Konerko is "overachieving"? If so I don't agree. Paulie has shown consistency in numbers and was an all-star before this year too.

He has indicated he just might do that
-
Does Kenny dare to consider making this trade?
elrockinMT replied to hawksox13's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We want to trade Teahan but that's only half of what's needed to seal the deal. Extremely doubtful this will ever happen. Plus I believe when Teahan is off the DL we see Viciedo back down and Teahan and Vizquel sharing time at 3B. I think we need to see what Teahan can contribute to the team. He will be back motivated I hope -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) Frankly, I don't see anyone giving Bobby good money next season. He might well make less than we're paying Putz right now, based on his performance this year. Relievers with WHIP over 1.5 who can't pitch outside the closer's role aren't exactly going to be in huge demand. I don't think Putz would have any interest in signing an extension right now, and I can't imagine the Sox would be able to do so. If he keeps up this performance the whole season, I could easily see someone going out and signing him for 3/$30 to be their closer. I think those were the numbers I read tht could be offered to Jenks. At this point in time Putz probably has earned that, but not Jenks
-
Bobby Jenks had a bad game. It happens. I am not sure at this point in time you would make a switch and have Putz close or not, but he sure can do that for certain. I would stick with Jenks, but I don't see the Sox paying the money some writers claim he can expect to sign for 2011. If he doesn't stay then the Sox shoud be looking at Putz as closer for next year and make a move to sign him to an extension.
