QUOTE (jphat007 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 06:49 PM) Pretty much any game that is broadcast by a team's normal station (IE CSN/WGN) is carried by mlbtv. So if it is on some form of regular tv, it'll be on mlb.tv. What are you saying there about that?
-
MLB-Tv will broadcast thirty spring training games and at least five of those are Sox games. You can see the TV schedule at MLB.Com

Maybe we can get all the super stars mentioned in these mesages?! B)

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 12:35 AM) If Cabrera is throwing 97 again, I want him on this team. Unless he is wild and can't get people out

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) Before we start saying guys are done if they go 0 for 10 during spring training or give up 8 runs in an inning, or put them on the All Star team because they are 9 out of their last 14 or pitch a couple of scoreless innings with 5 ks lets all keep in mind these spring training facts from the Tribune: In 2005, White Sox pitchers a 5.59 spring ERA before proceeding to win the World Series. Brian Anderson batted .309 the next spring to win the starting center field job, only to lose it by midseason. And infielder Wilson Betemit led the Sox last spring with six home runs and 18 RBIs, only to be designated for assignment two months later. We must be done already- we just have to be

Garfien: Sox made serious play for Halladay
elrockinMT replied to IamPabloOzuna's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sounds real exciting, but unless you can get er done then there is no reason to get TOO excited -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 12:31 AM) Jermaine Dye , $4M. JD for $4M to $5.5M

Our goose is cooked. However we might substitute turkey

I think Hawk may have played golf with Michael Jordan too at one point and see how that worked out

What are our realistic chances to land Damon?

Based on al that has been reported on by the so called experts I will say 0% -
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) Both of them can, and likely will, play the field at some point during the season, and probably will do so with adequate defense and at a very cheap price. No doubt that Kotsay and Jones will play in the field and take turns at DH. Whether they perform to the level Thome might we will have to wait and see. No doubt they add flexibility to the late inning moves and such

How well will the Twins play outdoors on grass?
elrockinMT replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am sure the Twinkies will do just fine and continue to be formidable competition. Dang it! -
QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Feb 14, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) Law also does not consider Viciedo a prospect. According to Law, many other talent evaluators view him the same way for some reason. Prospect or not, he's a valuable piece of the farm system - although that value does drop quite a bit as he shifts across the diamond to 1B. Someone had mentioned earlier that a package including Hudson, D2, Flowers, Morel, Viciedo, Mitchell (as a PTBN), etc. would be an alluring group depending on what said team needs/is looking for in return, which I very much agree with. The problem is that the above group is very short on pitching, and usually pitching prospects are viewed as gold. Give up six players? Holy Cow!

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) With the added players that aren't receiving offers, it's almost time to expand again. If not expand teams, at least expand rosters from 25 to 27. Competitive baseball is the key issue. However, expansion is an interesting idea

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) I agree, we should bring Frank back out of retirement, dude was a gold glover at the designated hitter position. You do not blasphemize Frank Thomas. I may have to ask that you be banned from Soxtalk for the rest of your days
-
I kinda of was hoping in my heart for one last hurrah with Frank in a Sox uniform, but it's not to be. He is a Hall of famer for sure
-
Tigers more serious, but my guess is the Braves will sneak in there somehow. The Sox are reported to be intersted by MLB.com TV guys. Reynolds said he liked the Sox and thinks Damon could be the impact player we need, but I don't see KW and Ozzie jumping up and down

Dye says "crowded outfield" prolonged his slump
elrockinMT replied to winninguglyin83's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 06:15 PM) Less than two weeks before the start of spring training, JD (one of my favorites) has gone on the PR offensive about his lack of free-agent offers. He did this interview with Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, insisting that he can still hit, that he's willing to play left field or first base and that when the Sox outfield got crowded with the arrival of Alex Rios last year that it helped to prolong his slump. “It all boils down to once we got crowded in the outfield and I started playing every couple of days,” Dye said. “Before we got crowded, I was already in a couple-weeks slump. It was just a situation that built up. “Having everyone rotate between the outfield and DH, doing all that, I think it made it that much tougher than being in the lineup every day, trying to work your way out of a slump. It just kind of piled up and piled up.” I don't remember JD's playing time getting reduced that dramatically. When Rios first arrived, I suspect his nose got out of joint because the Sox were investing $60 million in a guy who lacked his track record. Here's the link. It's an interesting read: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Rosenth...t-signed-021010 I know there are some who want to kick Dye when he is down and gone, but I for one think he still has something to give and would be a good signing by the Sox to play in RF, 1B and DH. He gives any team felixibiity and he is a great team player and leader. I am concerned at the offensive makeup of this club right now -

right handed pitcher is what I picked up from stumbling through the Spanish -
You can only mispell/misname the Twinkies and get away with it

A tip of the ole cowboy hat to Luis Aparicio. Hall of Famer and class act. I remember when he played for the Sox (twice)

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 01:10 AM) With a light hitting LF, no DH, and question marks at 3B, CF, and the bench when it comes to production, I can see 79 wins again. They are projecting only one team barely above the break even point in the AL Central
