  1. Did they show D Wise's catch to go along with that final out?
  2. At this point I I am only banking on Thornton and most likley Jenks being back. The pen will be different I think-only question is how different and will different mean different faces or the same but maybe healthier?
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 09:16 PM) $40-60 million, THAT CRAZY TALK! That's Peavy and Buerhle money and they are proven major league winners
  4. I don't know if he will get the award for ROY or not. Well he mght get the Sporting News award, but I'm not sure about the other one's. I will get back to you on that
  5. I sure do hope that the Fox bleepity-bleeper unit works good and quick
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) He has 22 homers in 1700+ minor league ABs. Baby Ruth is what you are saying?
  7. QUOTE (balfanman @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...74.story According to the last paragraph of this article, Ozzie thinks that C. J. Retherford, or someone else already in the organization may be able to take the utility job away from Nix and/or Lillibridge this spring. Lili maybe. You have to be able to hit the ball to stay in the majors
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 10:31 PM) He could be our Dwayne Wise replacement and that is fine with me. I agree he needs to shorten his swing and improve his contact rate. We think alike
  9. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 09:16 PM) So my question is why would the Marlins give up on him and place him on waivers?? Florida has aglut of OF prospects and he got lost in the shuffle after his injuries. He may not be a viable starting candidate for the Sox, but I am sure he will get an oportunity. However, no power (8 hrs) with speed and defense could make him D Wise's replacement
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 16, 2009 -> 08:46 AM) Will Pods accept 3 mil though, Greg? If he did it would have to be a long term deal with raises most likely. I don't think he will go less than $4 or $5 million and at least two years
  11. No reason to trade for another platoon OF'er
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 03:42 AM) They sure have. The only difference is that Mark took it to heart, where Bobby took it personally. In fact didn't Mark say he was going to work on arm strength during the off season? The older you get in the game of baseball the more you have to adjust your exercise regimen.
  13. QUOTE (boejouma @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 01:04 AM) whew. good to know Yes, my Soxtalk friend it was a joke. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Carlos Q is back to full health and performance next year. He needs to harness that fire he has to perform well.
  14. Makes you wonder if Bobby Jenks can accept constructive criticism. It is coming from the manager and pitching coach and he ia arguing about it? Makes me wonder.
  15. He might be slipping based on 2009 stats and compared to 2008. But, there was a noticeable decline at the end of 2008 also. Risky for an aging veteran.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) If he isn't, he is just in denial. Blasphemy
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 11:39 PM) Why the hell did they trade Norm Cash?! Or Denny McClain?
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 11:39 PM) Why the hell did they trade Norm Cash?! Or Earl Battey?
  19. Admit it... The Yankees hornswoggled the Sox n the Swisher deal. It might be a different story if we had gotten some ral vlaue back, but we lost on it. Now maybe next year one of those guys all of sudden surfaces as a real gem then we will be saying how the Sox won on the deal. It's all a crap shoot. The thread wil die when you admit KW got fleeced
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 04:13 PM) At about half or less of his former salary, I am interested. Economy wise and all I think Big Jim would be willing to accept less somewhere around $5M to 6M is my guess. I would love to see him back in a Sox uniform.
  21. Scott Podsednik is a good OF option for us and I would welcome his return next year
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 05:27 PM) Wise just opted for Free Agency. Adios, but he gave it his all when here. That's why the let BA go isn't it? Effort or lack of it?
  23. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 05:47 PM) If it isn't Wise catching hell here for being the 25th player in the ballclub,it'll be someone else... Best of luck to ya D Weezy. D Wise gave it his best try for sure. Back up rolls should be interesting next season. Of course maybe D Wise will be back.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 05:30 PM) HALLE F*CKIN LUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe you mean Halle Berry?
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 05:17 AM) Wise actually isn't a bad reserve. He's fast and isn't a bad fielder. He has shown he can at least handle that much and I am impressed with his fielding and arm
