It's been a bad season all the way around.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 11:44 PM) BTW, great night for Sports Comcast-Sox ESPN2-Tigers-Twins NBC-Steelers-Dolphins... I'll be listening on XM satelite radio... I'll be hearing you on the radio

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) I'd want to know how many shots he could have over a 30 day period, and how long each shot would last, before speculating. At least one every 4 days PLEASE!

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) What network are they on, I don't have ERSPN? Oh, I thought you were serious. I'm just going to have six beers rather than a case next time I start the thread QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) Baseball games have become bad news for the White Sox. That's true, but I think the last ERSPN game was good for the Sox

We get to see for ourselves tonight, that is us out of towner's, if the Chisox have any fire left and can turn their recent slide around. I'll see you all on the TV ER is not a mistake on my part either just a joke

Fathoms question is definently the million dollar one. I am concerned about their approach that's for sure and reading the story today about what Ozzie thinks-well, I think he is concerned too.

There is no way that javier vazquez should be criticized for losing the game last night. He stepped up and gave a great performance and went 8 innings. He has had his problems in the past going morte than 5 innings, but he showed in those five innings that he had the ability and usually was lights out. It was the 6th or 7th when he fell apart. I think talent wise he can do what the Sox expected of him whereas Freddie Garcia has seemed to have turned into a pitcher that can go 7 innings, but expect him to give up 4 or 5 or 6 runs a game usually 1 or 2 at a time. So this off season I would expect Freddie to be the trade bait. Vazquez giving up 1 run isn't something to be upset about either. The failure here was the offense not coming through again. It's a shame that when we get the real good pitching we don't get the run support we are used to. Hopefully this team gets its act together before we slip to far behind the Twins. The second half of the season has been one major disappointment.

"Cy Young" Gabbard for the Red Sox? Who is this guy? I see he has 4 k's through 3 innings. Is it one of those "we ain't never faced this guy before" things?

QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) The MacDogual trade looks even better right now. Just out of curiosity, even though Jenks has only 3 BS, would anyone prefer seeing Mac in the closer's role? No! Jenks is the closer, but when you are hurt and not pitching 100% you go with someone who is adn in this case it's probably McDougal

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) I'm really not sure why we put him on the mound last night if he was in as bad of shape as Cooper made it out to sound. That is indeed the million dollar question. Noting the box score he gave up 2 walks and a hit and had no k's. The game we won vrs the Royals he struck out the side. If he's hurt you use one of the guys,in this case McDougal as you mention, that has closer experience. Maybe they just didn't know he was hurt?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) Critical game, why not give a start to a AAA guy. Sweeny is probably the only one that can actually field his position out there in place of JD. we can ill afford to lose jermaine Dye so I hope this is just a one-day rest.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) The only thing that would be huge is the moon shots that he gives up in clutch situations. He will just be joining the club then as far as homers allowed
-
I think this team is going to be really lucky to pull this out this year. I listened to the KC announcer over XM and they make mention of lack of fire and tired looking pitchers on the part of the Sox.

I love the Big Hurt, but in the overall scheme of things I think Thome was the better choice for the Sox. He is the power lefty hitter we needed and he hits for higher BA then Frank. He also has more RBI's and homers. I wonder if Frank is still a bit on the crippled side because his batting average still hovers around the .260-.270 range? The foot injury kept him from hitting more than homers last year and kept the average down. Possibly he is just changing his approach knowing that Oakland needs the power production? Whatever, I think Frank Thomas is one of the all time greats.

QUOTE(Dan @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 04:56 AM) Props to AJ. Its no easy task to catch the knuckler. I think we might benefit from bringing J.C. Martin back to catch. If Charlie continues to shine he might fit in well as a long relief man. A knuckler for a starter sure wouldn't bother me though.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) You don't win as many 1 and 2 runs games as we did last year without some small ball. Point taken, though. I think we got a little too much credit for that last year. Last years success was great defense and super pitching. This year any success is becasue of an overpowering offesne. They can't bunt anf the fielding has not been as sharp and I think our stolen bases are down too. The pitching staff has struggled.

If we are going to catch the Tigers and/or get into the wild card we need to be beating up on teasm like the D-Rays and the Royals. 2 of 3 in Chicago don't cut it. The relief corp sucks again.

The only negative question I have, since I am just logging on, is why oh why do we have relief pitchers continually giving up home runs? -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) If they haven't even considered McCarthy in the rotation, I doubt they would consider Wells, although he has been pretty good as of late. I think someone will actually give up a decent prospect for him. Maybe the Mets. I heard the Padres were close to a deal. I am thinking it was supposed to be done by tonight.
