Garland just walked the lead off man in the bottom of the 7th. We will now see whether the big inning follows. Let's hope not.

Texas probably figured they better getting out of the way of the runaway freight train. Way to go Paulie!

Jose Valentin hitting about .215 now. I think he should go back to switch hitting. I think this lefty all the time has him screwed up.

I think we made a good trade you just have to hope we didn't give up too much talent. It will be interesting to see how Reed does.

I don't know either. The thing I see is the fact our pitchers seem to have a lot of movement on their pitches, or so I believe. Is it the fact they have a tendency to bring the ball over the plate with that movement? Or as you said are they taught to just get it across?

Southsider this is exactly the point I made in a post on the board. Our guys seem to give up a lot of homers. All 3 runs off Mark have courtesy of the long ball.

Heh guys, where are all the other Soxfans tonite? Just logging on to see what's up and see the Sox in charge. Playing a lot better baseball lately.

Adkins Fastball
I would like to see fewer homeruns allowed by our pitchers including the relief corp. Southsider asked about Adkins as a closr. That is a possible scenario for sure, but I was thinking starter.

Ozzie has his lefty reliever for next year. Good job Arnie!

You know that and I know that, but apparently our manager doesn't know that. Diaz is a starter who can go 5 to 7 innings and yet is pulled after 2 innings. The "kid" is making those funny moves/decisions again.

Followed by a single. Garland will show he sucks as a relief pitcher now.

It don't make no sense at all. What the heck is the "kid" thinkin?

Definnetly got suckered by Rogers, which is how the guy wins games. Pitches around the corners and low and guys like Borchie go fishing.

Am I right or has Contreras blown the last two starts he has made? 8 runs in less than 2 innings is horrible.

7.5 games back
It could still happen. Never give up till the last pitch of the season.

At least he threw strikes. I am sure it was just nerves because of his debut. I was hoping to see him tonight versus Texas on WGN, but no such luck.

Why on earth is Jose Valentin still in the lineup?
Jose is in the lineup becasue he plays hard everyday. The guy is having a tough year batting average wise, but ypu don't hear him make excuses either. However, if Valdez is called up now then I am sure he will get some playing time. He can't do much worse then any other Sox call up this season.

Cataracts! That and some other things need to be checked. But, Willie hasn't looked bad. Next year might be his season to blossom.

Valdez called up/Garcia to start Wed
I don't know why people refer to the Mariner's offesne as lowly. The Seattle club has a good hitting team. Ichiro, smirking Boone, Edgar M, Ibanez, et al. Diaz did a really great job no matter who the opponent was especially considering our other fifth starters. Grilli impressed me with how he battled back from trouble. He didn't groove one like so many others. Starter material I don't know, but long relief yes. Maybe Adkins will get a starting opportunity someday?

I agree, but not at the expense of the big guns. There will be changes though.

Well, anything is possible this off season, but I don't think so. Paulie is too important. We still need the homer guys to go along with any punch and judy hitters we end up with. I do think Maggs might be gone and if for that reason alone Paulie is important to the Sox line up. The Big Hurt, Paulie and Carlos batting 3-4-5.

Eggg-xactly right, Heather Lee! Plus I hate the smirkiness from Boone and his bat flip. It was so great to see him get thrown out last night at 3rd to end the game.

Another thing to give kudos to Diaz is ove the fact he has gotten Ichiro out twice this game. The guy has been an absolute demon with the bat the last 10 games or so. Remember hs 5 for 5 night versus the Sox.
