  1. Garland getting them out in the 1st with no runs will probably set the tone of the ball game. If he is sharp you will see it in the 1st inning. We then can concentrate on hitting Rogers junk, if the hitters can remember that they don't all have to hit a homerun every at bat.
  2. I liked the at bat Konerko got late in the game off Hawkins. I think he battled him for 9-10 pitches but then grounded out of course.
  3. I can't believe that Jerry Reinsdorf doesn't really want to win. Sure he does just like all of us and the players, etc. But Jerry is a businessman and businessmen have taken over this game. He only sees the botom line and that's profit. He, and many others, would rather see the Sox make a dollar than be a dollar in the hole. That's their focus right or wrong, good or bad. The problem is that most teams can't compete with the likes of Steinbrenner and the money he THROWS at people. Other players see what he spends and then they all think they should get that kind of money. It's a vicious cycle and hopefully the pendulum will swing back soon. I think that for the most part there is a lot of parity out there right now.
  4. A lot depends on this off season obviously. Everett is still a possibility for the Sox. However, Rowand or Borchard might get a try, but speedster Willie Harris better figure out how to put the bat on the ball, if he wants to play anywhere. Harris is probably a better 2B candidate, but my hope is Roberto Alomar stays with the Sox. Do you think Roberto might take Harris under his wing? Reed seems like a real exciting prospect, but the penchant has been to let the youngsters get a full exposure to the minors so AAA is most likely the place for him. A great spring training might change a lot of things though.
  5. And aparently didn't the last game he beat us either. They also must not have good memories.
  6. No reason to give up because of the one game loss out of a three game series. We still have 2 more and with Garland and Colon going we have a good chance. Better than the Twins I would say as long as our offense starts to click. We have only scored 4 runs vrs the Twins in the last 3 losses. I think we could have done better last night if Loaiza hadn't ben pitching sick. I think the best we could have hoped for was 2 out of 3 in Twinkieland.
  7. I know Steff that the blame Jerry stuff gets old. I have had my moments but I have given him the benefit of the doubt becasue there are a lot of things that we don't know about when it comes to his making the decisions he does and he is right a lot of the time. I have to wonder if he talks to his players before the game? If pithcing coach Cooper knew it then why didn't he talk to the manager? I know E Lo and the others are top notch and want to compete, but there are times when someone has to step in and say, "not tonight." Someone didn't and I think it cost us a big, big game. Of course if we win tonight and Thursday all of this will matter not. I think the best we could hope for anyway would be 2 out of 3 playing in the garbage dome.
  8. I believe we will know tonight and Thursday if this is a correct assumption. I think we will now see if Jon Garland has turned the corner and developed into the clutch starter he has been looking like the last half of the season. If Jon can do it and Colon comes through on Thursday it will be a real uplifting, and maybe even deeply religious experience for a lot of us Sox fans not to mention what it will do for the team as a whole. But, tonight it's up to Big Jon... Speaking to those of us from outside the Chitown area let's all watch on ESPN2 tonight and give Jon the karma he needs to win. I don't think we can afford to even give up three runs tonight so it will have to be a heavy duty meditating session.
  9. The news reports I am reading on last nights game indicate that Esteban was sick with flu like syptoms and looked lethargic, etc, etc Why in the world was he put out there on the mound trying to pitch with no energy or strength? Garland was in line for the start. Prior to the game a person could understand wanting to put your best pitcher out there, but why in the world, when you knew he was ill would you throw him out there and expect him to exert and compete with everything he's got with nothing in the tank? I have had my momnets with second guessing managerial decision this year because that's the luxury of arm chair managing, but for crying out loud when a guy is sick and can't give it 100% in a pennant race you hold him out for a game or so till he is ready. It's not like we didn't have an option. Jon Galand was in line for the start.

    LMAO

I can't agree with you folks on dissing Jose. It seems that when we are going poorly that we need to find a player to dump on and it's Jose usually. There are plenty of Sox players that one could blame for this season and specifically the last three versus the Twins. I just hope they can regroup and make a comeback on Wednesday and Thursday otherwise our Sox will have a hole in them. Tried to think of a rhyme there but got nothing kind of like the team versus Radke.
  11. Well, I am hoping that the Big Hurt will step up today and take us through the rest of the season. I will pick Frank Thomas and watch on ESPN2 tonight.
  12. SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW> THE GAME IS ON ESPN2 SO I'LL BE WATCHING TO SEE IF JON CAN SHOW US AND JM WHY HE SHOULD HAVE PITCHED TONIGHT INSTEAD OF ELO.
  13. And the old pop up to end it by Valentin. Happens a lot it seems. Harry Caray once called it, "he pops it up. That wouldn't be a homerun in a phone booth."
  14. Just noticed that out of our 9 hits tonight Everett's homer was the first for extra bases.
  15. Looked like a good battle there by Konerko vrs Hawkins, but of course it ends in a groundout.
  16. Everett hits a homer! Maybe he is making a statement to the rest of the team... LIKE WAKE UP!
  17. Frank and Maggs must be having a contest on who can groundout the fastest and the mostest.
  18. If it wasn't for Wunsch (and his 10 minutes delivery to home plate) our relief corp would be perfect tonight. Something positive to think about, Into the 9th we go.
  19. I don't want to be this first one to gag at a post of "wait, it ain't over till it's over stuff." I will do it for all you folks. Even if we lose tonight there are still 2 more games and if we win those games we will be 1/2 game in front. We still have a chance. You just hope you can see some fire from the offense. What the heck happened to Loaiza tonight?
  20. A pathetic offensive display by ateam that knows what they have to do, but just never seem to be able to step up against the Twins in Twinkieland.
  21. What gets me with all these flyballs is that we know how the Twinks win in the garbage dump they call home and that's hitting the ball hard off the astroturf, or whatever they have that passes for a baseball field, but we can't seem to follow suit.
  22. I guess I will stay and suffer the rest of the game. Loaiza not doing it for 2 starts in a row vrs the Twins and the Sox not able to remember the junk the Radke pitches makes you wonder hw charged up these guys are. Is everything tied to the home run again as far as their swings tonight?
  23. I just signed on and also to MLB game day. I see we left a number of runners on in scoring position and also Konerko and Thomas did the GIDP thing. I was looking today at an ESPN comparison of the Sox-Twins and we beat them in just about all categories (pitching and hitting) but the glaring problem was all the DP's the Sox hit into. I worried that we may have a problem with that in the garbage bag dome and so it goes...
  24. Checked ESPN's website for the TV schedule and it says: White Sox vrs Twins
  25. I say sign Robbie Alomar to a 2-year deal. I think he would take a lower salary for a 2-year deal. He is not the $8M player he was a few years ago, but he is still better than 2/3 of those playing 2nd base today and who do we have ready in our system anyway?
