5/15 White Sox @ Twins, 12:10 WGN

Axe could very well be the Twins' ace, so they can shove that "can't you get out" s*** up their ass -

Don't worry, Axe will be in Charlotte shortly. And he has a track record of rallying back after starts like this. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 15, 2013 -> 12:25 PM) Sigh. No range from Keppinger. 14 game hitting streak for Mauer. Amazing, but his career best is ONLY 16. You would have thought it would be 20-30 games. Running into a lefty starter every few days has probably made it difficult for him to keep up a hit streak -

He's either hurting or lost. Why would you swing at that pitch, on the first pitch, like that? -

Generous call there. Dunn deserves a break. -

Not a fan of Wise playing today. -
We don't have to go on a 10 game win streak so long as we don't go 2-10 leading up to our elimination in September.

I fail to see the real issue with the production out of the leadoff spot. It has been short of ideal, but I have to say it isn't a huge cause of concern for me. Also, f*** those white 1B/DH! -
Trying to wrap my head around this -- A.) Dump players because they cost money. B.) Who cares if we have a young prospect behind them, because ^^^ C.) The free agent market sucks, we don't want any of those players. So why do we care about A if B and C are true?

The book is out on this contract. Alexei was worth $8MM last year according to FanGraphs and was worth over $16MM the years before that. He's already been worth $3MM this season.

Friedell says Bulls are "emotionally spent" and lack confidence going into tonight's game. Said they were sky high after the win, but some of those good spirits were contingent on the return of Deng, Hinrich, Rose. Losing Game 3 and still not having so many important players has taken its toll and you could tell in Game 4.

There are some folks that are very unsupportive of the .05 BAC recommendation, including Mothers Against Drunk Driving

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 15, 2013 -> 10:30 AM) Oh, and BTW, the Sox are 16-21 with 3 players - Dunn, Keppinger, and Konerko - underachieving badly, another starter - Beckham - on the DL and another starter - Viciedo - who was on the DL already this year. On top of that, 14 of their 21 losses have been by 2 runs or fewer, and 9 of those 21 have been by 1 run. It's going to take about one of those three underachieving bats to get back and heated up, and the Sox will start winning those 1 and 2 run games, and if two of them heat up, they won't be having nearly as many 1 and 2 run games. Dunn, Kepp, Kong underachieving. Gordon comes back and likely replaces Kepp, eliminating an underachiever. T Flow is back over .200, so who knows what we're getting there. Since Dunn abandoned that crap approach, he has posted a .750 OPS...which isnt great, but might be a sign of better things to come. Konerko...hopefully he gets it going again. He's been a guy that has gone through a lot of prolonged slumps, so it is hard to say whether old age or just his typical slumping self is at fault here.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2013 -> 10:28 AM) Right -- though trading CQ is the exact type of thing we should do when our minor leagues provides a replacement. But not spending for the sake of losing is silly. I am fine with calling a spade a spade when necessary, but there's no reason to be get as bad as you can. If we can maximize our benefit by trading someone, so be it. If we're trading someone just because it is a sin to have good players on a bad team, then that's silly. If we're out of it in July, then of course we should trade Thornton, Crain, and Lindstrom. They're leaving anyway. Rios and Peavy are far trickier because they are under contract for two more years at a fair price, Peavy for three if we take his option/it vests. We should never plan on being bad for two years. There's an argument that we have a minor league replacement for Peavy, which is to be seen but might be right FWIW

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 15, 2013 -> 10:14 AM) The question remains, if you have money and are willing to spend it, why do a gut rebuild? Why get rid of your good players for guys like Simon Castro and Nestor Molina? If you aren't supposed to compare them to other teams who did gut rebuilds, who should you compare them to? What team gets rid of all its good players and is back with this "sustained success" 2 or 3 years later? Right -- though trading CQ is the exact type of thing we should do when our minor leagues provides a replacement. But not spending for the sake of losing is silly. I am fine with calling a spade a spade when necessary, but there's no reason to be get as bad as you can. If we can maximize our benefit by trading someone, so be it. I have to think the Cards would like Alexei, but who knows. They'd probably like to get at some of our relievers too.

RV-Team Meeting/Strategies for improving defense?
Jake replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 14, 2013 -> 10:39 PM) Yeah but if we never sign Wise it's a $700,000 difference. Danks is this organization's best defensive outfielder. Danks has .355 OBP in the minors and Wise's career high OBP is .293. Save $700,000 + See what a young player has + better defense + improve OBP on the MLB's worst OBP team. I'm with you -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2013 -> 09:54 PM) Some good stuff out there by our pitchers tonight. Time to win the series tomorrow. Some hitters showing signs of life too. Bring back the Gordon!

Flowers with consecutive good games at the plate.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 14, 2013 -> 08:50 PM) Okay, now that was an awful call. Dunn was clearly safe.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2013 -> 08:27 PM) He was quite clearly out on a replay shown on the Twins network, got him on the shoulder right before looking up at the ump. Thanks, there was nothing conclusive on our broadcast
