  1. My outlook when I'm watching Sox games is to just wait for Dunn's next AB to see if he goes deep
  2. Man I thought that broke over after the fact. Oh, I see it did.
  3. Put Danks in to run??
  4. Gordon...cement your legacy as a kind of cool guy and okay player
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 09:13 PM) Is Viciedo a prospect or a bust? One out. None of the above?
  6. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 09:11 PM) How about Neal Cotts with a 0.38 ERA on the year. Impressive. Somebody get Cliff Politte on the phone.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 09:01 PM) I can't imagine Troncoso being on the roster much longer. Which is insane since we may be dropping up to 3 relievers in the near future.
  8. I give everyone a mulligan with Chris Davis up. I wish we had a Chris Davis. Or a Frank Thomas.
  9. I don't give a s*** about the draft. I'd rather watch us win and watch players play well and become part of the future. I'll get excited about our draft pick no matter where it is next year.

If you put any prospect with Dunn or Alexei just to dump their salary, you're an idiot. They're both playing well enough that people will be willing to eat their entire contracts at this point, even if there is a slight price to pay in terms of baseball talent.
  13. We don't have a thread about Alexei and he is most certainly among the more likely to be traded. Let's have a groupthink about where he might fit. Cardinals' need for a shortstop is getting more and more problematic. Kozma/Descalso is an atrocious combo. I don't know if the Reds love Zack Cozart at this point. Dodgers could probably benefit from moving Hanley to 3B and Uribe to the bench. As an added bonus, they don't even know what money means. Mariners could use an SS, but I have no idea what their strategy is right now. Some seemed to think they were pushing to compete soon, but this year has been a total flop. Someone a little more in the know might be able to shed some light. Any other ideas? There aren't many good shortstops out there right now and not many with much of a track record. Alexei may not be great, but the dude can throw some leather (even if he's been a bonehead this season, he just makes SO many more plays than the average SS) and you know that you're going to get at least a passable, roughly league average hitter out of him. He has to have some value.
  14. This Bulls team is much better at 3-point shooting IMO than the 2011 team, even if we only have one proven sharpshooter. I will even concede that Korver is a better shooter than Dunleavy, even though I'd love one of our statheads to pull out the advanced numbers and see who nails what kind of shots and what percentages (set jumpshot, off screens, etc -- we're not going to be paying these guys to shoot fadeaways or anything). First of all, Keith Bogans and Ronnie Brewer were completely hopeless at making three point shots or just shots in general. Bogans was so inept that opposing teams pretty much refused to guard him at all. He had only a passable 3P% when we all know that the vast majority of his threes were relatively uncontested. These two got most of the minutes. You replace Bogans and Brewer primarily with Butler and Snell. We'll say Dunleavy = Korver for these purposes. Jimmy isn't a "sharpshooter" but is actually capable of knocking down open threes and will make defenses pay for leaving him alone. Snell is somewhat of an unknown entity but it is a safe assumption that he can trump Brewer's 22 and 27 3P percentages as a Bull. Watson could shoot some, but barely played (13 mpg, rarely on the floor w/ Rose). Hinrich, statistically, is a pretty similar shooter. It's my opinion that Hinrich is more equipped to play the role of a spot-up jump shooter than Watson who is more of a creator. I am fairly certain that we will see Kirk and Rose share the court some this season as well, that should be something that boosts Kirk's efficiency if we believe that Derrick creates open threes by being a threat on the drive (not to mention our ability to run real post players out there).
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 04:31 PM) Why? The amount of arrests was very high. Had to check it, 5 arrests so far this year for Florida. So they are still on pace. Wouldn't that just be evidence that Urban was better at preventing these things from coming out than the current regime?
  16. I think this injury will irreparably harm his trade value. How much is debatable, but a pitcher just coming off an arm injury is always a big risk. We didn't do this for s***s and giggles, he clearly has something going on or they wouldn't have told the world that he's having a problem right before he gets traded.
  17. Amount of arrests wouldn't seem to be a way to evaluate a guy who we believe was preventing players from arrest/facing charges
  18. Saying we lack a sharpshooter is false. Whether Dunleavy is Kerr is another question -- though I'm not convinced that looking at the raw 3P% is all that useful. Dunleavy = sharpshooter. He has filled a role that we really need. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) I hate OJ Mayo. OJ Mayo is one of those weird soxtalk loves like Rudy Fernandez. Agree. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the Bulls, but I wouldn't move heaven and earth to do so. Saw plenty of him in Memphis
  19. Of course, we have no idea what's wrong with Crain and thus can't say if he will be healthy at the end of his 15 days.
  20. In this thread, Mike Dunleavy can't shoot
  21. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) Lol at the last line of that article. Looks like the author forgot what he was going to type to end it. WE ARE F***ING SERIOUS NOW
  22. Surrounding superstars with elite talent is hard. Look at the Knicks, Nets as examples of teams that got their guy but couldn't get over the top.
  23. There is no way we could have traded for Harden, plain and simple. It was a perfect deal for Houston. They got an expiring contract that was also a very important player for their team, plus two first rounders, plus a promising rookie. How could we have done anything similar to that?
  24. Alright, you can find me floating facedown in the Illinois river sometime soon
