  1. My column today for Yahoo! Sports is about what we need from Dayan looking forward: Dayan Viciedo's Return Key for Chicago White Sox Basically, Viciedo probably doesn't realize it but he is so essential to our success. We don't necessarily need him in 2013 to succeed (even though it sure would be helpful), but the way our franchise looks going forward basically hinges on him. He is the one young player we have that is capable of being a franchise cornerstone. If he doesn't pan out the way we hoped, our team won't have any big run producers on the right side of 30 moving forward and we don't seem especially close to having a prospect come up with that sort of potential either. Flowers could turn things around, but he doesn't really have the ability to be a 3-slot type of hitter -- he makes Dayan look like a contact hitter. Gordon could magically turn things around, but his absolute ceiling would be about 25 bombs and he almost definitely will never see that happen. An excellent 2 hitter still seems like Gordon's most optimistic fate. Trayce Thompson? I just don't see it happening, though he could come up and be a 5-slot type of hitter. If Dayan doesn't break out, we may not see players with elite run producing abilities until Hawkins and Barnum mature. And that's a big "if" and a long wait. The Sox are great at acquiring players, but the problem with that is you have to spend money or players to get them. We need Dayan to bring us some home cooking in the middle of the order for the next 5-10 years.
  2. With a lineup like last night's, if Nate can't get shots off against LeBron that should leave Marco able to score. Getting an easy basket with ball movement would be much easier if LBJ guards our point guard. The reason he shut Derrick down is because Derrick just wanted to run iso instead of playing basketball and running a real play
  3. That's my favorite part of not being in a rebuild. When a player plays good, we start to envision how he can contribute to our team for years on end. When a player plays good for the Cubs, their fans just start to think about what players they'll get back in trade.
  4. I have to give props to Marco for not really being a problem defensively. He's come a long way. Not to say D Wade really pushed him, but you could see his effort was very high all night long. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 7, 2013 -> 02:48 AM) Lineup I know won't happen but holy s*** imagine if it did: Rose's backup Curry Butler Love's backup Noah
  5. With all the ACL talk, I decided to take a more comprehensive look at how long it takes for NBA players recover from ACL injuries in the new millennium. ACL Recovery Times in the NBA Hint: Derrick doesn't look good.
  6. This thing is about to end either way now I don't see this as an East - West thing. I enjoy watching clubs from both sides.
  7. Jimmy Butler hasn't left the floor for the last 12 quarters of Bulls basketball
  8. This might be the top of the mountain boys, enjoy the air while you're here
  9. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 6, 2013 -> 08:44 PM) the officiating has been pretty good so far. but Lebron should have just got a T for throwing that ball across the court like a baby I'm not too upset by the officiating either. It would be nice if they stopped the b****ing, but I doubt that is actually possible.
  10. I like how LeBron losing his balance is a foul on Jo
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2013 -> 08:33 PM) This just in, wade has never committed a foul. Nor has LeBron. At least you don't see Bosh b****ing so much
  12. Belinelli is surviving defensively against Wade, but lord is his shot broke
  13. Well we aren't out of it. Go on a run, boys
  14. It keeps looking like they'll go on a run, but we hang around. The turnovers are killing us.
  15. Keeping up with them after all those turnovers is pretty impressive. They're going to talk about the missed shots by the Heat, but we also gave the Heat a ton of layups on turnovers.
  16. Derrick is on the bench looking for muscle memory
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ May 6, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) Turnovers
