Matty Ice!

Shooting went cold at the wrong time.

This is probably a jinx, but Thornton gets me holds for fantasy team. The Thornton-Crain duo gets me lots of 2 hold games when the Sox win.
-
Jimmy has turned into such a nice player. Great pick.

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ May 2, 2013 -> 09:02 PM) So....if Flowers just ...is this Would we be passably content at C with 290 OBP/410 SLG with good defense This is to be seen. He looked very good behind the plate last year, but has had several lapses defensively in this short season.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2013 -> 09:01 PM) Teague just can't shoot, he needs to be more aggressive. There's a decent player in there somewhere. We're not asking much and not getting much. Good experience for him though, much like Jimmy getting minutes against Philly in last year's playoffs.

Attn: White Sox offense no more runs needed

We're going to run out of post players before this one is over.

Kep's line drive percentage is way up, but his ground ball percentage is down. His HR/FB is down (of course) to 0, so it is hard to take away a simple lucky/unlucky reading from the numbers. His infield fly ball is up, but not alarmingly so.
-
That had to be a cross-up on the signs, right?
-
BABIP is more informative if you look at it next to other batted ball stats. If BABIP is down and line drive % is down, then he isn't unlucky

QUOTE (flavum @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:47 PM) I know an out is an out, but that's not major league baseball. That shouldn't be tolerated. Do not, I repeat DO NOT look at Chris Young's stats
-
Whether he is 24 or 27 is immaterial if this is his first real shot in the big leagues. If we got 4-5 years out of this catcher, it's all worth it
-
lol Robin sitting on the bench gives no f***s
-
f*** Flowers, get younger guys
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:32 PM) Who are you referring to? Flowers? Yeah. We're dying to have a team that lets young guys play, but are flabbergasted when it doesn't pan out (or doesn't start well, at least)
-
We want to give young guys playing time, but hate the young guy we give playing time.
-
31.5 million dollars on the DL right now for the sox.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:23 PM) People keep talking about his babip, but it's hard to take comfort in that when his outs are so weak. I wonder if he came into camp way out of shape due to his leg injury during the offseason. Unclear if he's even healthy right now. I would be shocked if he didn't start seeing some bench when Gordon returns.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:20 PM) The pitching looks promising, but holy cow are there a lot of potential holes on offense heading into next season (C, 1B, 2B, CF) Dayan can play a pretty big role in how our offense looks going forward. Have to hope he can take that mantle at 1B, or at least hit like a 1Bman while he plays LF. I'm not about to give up on ADA either.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:10 PM) Way too early on Gillaspie. To not be a platoon player, he has to prove he can hit lefties or Keppinger/Greene will eventually get those AB's. Rios is a franchise player nearing his mid 30's and will be declining soon. If he's the building block for the future, other than Sale/Quintana/Santiago, we're in deep deep trouble. While he's a VERY good player, he's not a superstar and the organization would be better off spending that money on developing younger players or using that playing time for prospects who are part of the future. Alexei is what he is...great or highlight reel, but sometimes erratic/brain cramp defense, and a 675-700ish OPS. Same issue with Rios as far as age and contract going in the wrong direction. You guys are hard to please. Other than a bunch of great-looking starting pitching under contract for 3 or more years, a five-tool OFer on a fair contract for 2 more years, one of the most consistently good SS's in the MLB on the squad for 3 more years, we suck! Young 3B that is raking? Unlike those old guys that have produced too much to excite us, he hasn't produced enough. We clearly need something like a 25 year old Frank Thomas or three to show that we're going in the right direction. We don't like our old 1B is producing. We'll get 13.5 million to replace him. 9 million in savings from losing Gavin Floyd. If Danks doesn't work out, I expect there will be insurance payouts to help offset that. We're also in a major market and it is unclear whether we're even at the top of our possible expenditures. We could buy a major free agent if they hit the market -- a Pujols type of player, if we want.

Casper no like big curveball
-
No defense.
-
Rotation looks about as good as one can look for the foreseeable future. Rios is a franchise player. Alexei is as solid as ever. Gillaspie looks like he can hold down the hot corner. We have money coming off the books this offseason to buy some quick improvements.

There's all kinds of good in this organization. No need to fret. Also, Wells' slide was pure genius because it made it damn difficult to tell where the ball landed
