  1. They can say Ned Yost did a nice job with those guys, but their fundamentals and baseball smarts are terrible and that's the only thing that the coach can control
  2. KC puked that one up big time. Just confirms to me that Detroit is not very good
  3. KC defense = "1 out of 3 ain't bad"
  4. Why did they let fatty stay on base?
  5. Got the out at 3rd! Nice defense, DP ball ends the inning now
  6. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) How is that even possible? lol, maybe in the world where this happens the Tigers also still lose?
  7. infield double by Prince Fielder
  8. Jesus Christ KC defense
  9. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 02:03 PM) GW went to Yale and was a leader. Didn't Mittens go to Harvard? Yes, those men were pretty damned successful students as well. People are supposedly repulsed by "elites" but wouldn't vote for someone who didn't know how to make a bunch of money or have a high degree.
  10. Bunch of naysayers ITT
  11. I miss DJ in the booth. There, I said it.

I'll be very interested in the months after the season to see what is said about Paulie. If he immediately gets cut on, we'll know this is all injury-related. If nothing comes out about injury, then things are not good. That would mean the problem is either chronic or there is no injury and he's just back to the old mercurial Konerko.

What do we know about Rick Hahn that makes us so sure he'd do this thing or that thing? Everyone keeps hoping that Hahn will "finally bring in a good player" and s*** like this. What do you think KW does? He f***ing does s***. He makes splashes. A true change in GM would be someone that is decidedly less aggressive and would instead be more effective at developing homegrown talent. That may or may not be an improvement, but I can't imagine a fan getting excited about their team getting real conservative
  14. Rush doesn't need even a shred of reality backing his statements to say them.
  15. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 07:12 AM) Not that it has anything to do with whether he deserves reelection, but the man: a) got into Harvard Law School; 2) made the Harvard Law Review; and was elected as its President by his Harvard law peers. I was Dean's List at a Big10 U and scored in the 92% on my LSAT and couldn't do that, or make Law Review at my Big10 Law school. Even if you account for "affirmative action" as a basis for admission to Harvard Law (which is what I assume implicitly underlies this issue), you can't accomplish items (2) and (3) as a dummy, or on any kind of free pass. No way. So if that's not "some proof" that the guy is smarter than the average bear, I don't know what is, and the transcripts won't "end" this issue for some people any more than the birth certificate did that one. I already said that admission to, leadership positions at, and graduation from Harvard Law School guarantees a measure of success but they said no.
  16. Reporting that the Thursday game will have regular refs now. Now we can continue to rip the league when bad calls are made because they didn't give the refs adequate time to "warm up" or something

Steve's banner has been the problem. It's been downhill ever since it changed
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 11:13 PM) Big Game Jake He'll throw 200 pitches to get through 6 if he has to
  19. Game thread is moving ever closer to wanting Ozzie back, don't worry
  20. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 11:07 PM) 1.) We are not talking about day to day game play. He has struggled for over a month. Its do or die. So in your world. Carl Everett is our 3 hole hitter in 2005 through the playoffs. Because if we apply the same rules to that season do you think we win without that move. I was referring more to the comment about Alexei. I wouldn't move Youk now, but I would have moved him 2-3 weeks ago when it didn't look like we were moving things around out of sheer panic. The fact that Carl Everett was our 3 hitter for any stretch of time at that stage of his career is kind of frightening in and of itself, btw QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 11:07 PM) Why not? Maybe it shakes things up a bit.
  21. 1. Don't move the lineup around based on game to game play 2. This past week has been the unfortunate logical end to a pretty long-term trend of worsening play for our boys. The talent is there to surge to the finish, but the health, mindset, luck, and everything else may not be. I'm happy to get to worry about this crap in the last week of September.
  22. Time to just watch and hope.
