  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) 5 straight fastballs to Abreu...mix it up AJ! Mark Parent calls pitches for Phil Humber as of his last start
  2. If you're going to give him a hit, don't throw so many pitches beforehand
  3. QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 04:55 PM) I just love arbitrary dissection! lol you could do this to every season, ever
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 04:15 PM) I understand what he is saying, a lot of people were saying De Aza was just a AAAA player too. And he is right, a lot of people buried De Aza as Pierre-lite. That does not mean I feel Axelrod is NOT a AAAA, I don't think the two are comparable at all Okay, I thought he was saying we should trade him or something. I didn't understand the comment
  5. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 01:51 PM) He's not good. AAAA material. As for trading Floyd to the Jays, that's a silly idea. Unless Floyd's right arm completely fell off today, his value couldn't be any lower. I think Axelrod could be a stop gap, give you a 4.5-5 ERA for the rest of the season if need be. No need to call him up to be our savior if guys are struggling though -- I'd only do it as an injury replacement. I'd rather see Simon Castro. As for the Floyd business, I wholeheartedly agree. QUOTE (mataipaepae @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 02:00 PM) That is what a lot of people said about de aza too. lol...what?
  6. Phillip, it's time to make us make some hard decisions. Too many good starters > not enough
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 12:39 AM) With Drabek tearing his elbow, Morrow getting hurt and Hutchison leaving the game with an injury tonight, KW should be on the phone with AA discussing Gavin Floyd. I don't think we could get a thing for him. Brett Lawrie?
  8. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 12:10 AM) Great loss today and a loss tomorrow. Soxtalk reaching new heights, now calling games before they start instead of just after a few innings
  9. Very tough loss, would have been nice to steal this one after the long road trip.
  10. Crazy down angle on these pitches
  11. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 12:03 AM) Have you ever seen another MLB level player who refuses to run out pop ups more than him? He doesn't run s*** out. He never has. AJ hustles more than the average MLB player, absolutely for sure. I'd venture to say that his career doesn't get this far if he hadn't had a reputation for hustling and being in the right place at the right time. His defense lately has been getting lazy though. I have to wonder if it is because he gets far less rest than your average MLB catcher
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 12:02 AM) You hate AJ? Hard to hate AJ as a Sox fan. I do think that him and Konerko have been extremely lackadaisical of late I do agree with that and I've honestly been more upset with PK's laziness. I think AJ not getting down on pitches could be helped if we rested him like a normal catcher
  13. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 12:00 AM) AJ might be the laziest ballplayer I've ever seen. I mean that. God, I hate him. That's a very far leap to make
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 11:59 PM) He didn't know where the ball was, how can you blame him? What? Is he blind?
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 11:59 PM) Oh AJ, just lazy as hell behind the plate of late. No effort to block that. I'm thinking about the runner now...I think in this situation he was just being dumb and not thinking about the runner at 3B Dumb defense prevails over lazy defense in this case
  16. Good to see more lazy defense from AJ
  17. Abreu should play for the Tigers, they need more offense and strong defenders like Abreu to make their OF match their IF
  18. Alexei plays defense
  19. Matt Thornton throughout his career has been just about equally effective against both LH and RH hitters
  20. I'll be a typical Soxtalker and blame Escobar for this
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 11:49 PM) Matt Thornton in tie games scares me. 3 lefties to deal with here. RV was smart enough to pull Hudson and stick Escobar over there for defensive purposes.....and Eduardo's not a natural 3B either, his position was always SS before the last 6 months where he's been playing all over the infield. Soxtalk has now adopted the double switch as a way to indict Orlando Hudson's defense
  22. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 11:44 PM) Morel also had a screwed up back. That's true. Not trying to say something about Brent Morel, just the standard of play and the replacement options in 2012 QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 11:45 PM) It's been an awful move. His defense has killed the team in the short time he's been over there. I disagree. He just hasn't killed us. There have been mistakes, a couple have been costly. He's made a couple great plays, one in particular stands out in my mind as saving a win for us. I'll say that he's played below average defense, but I'm not even convinced of that. He's okay over there. I expect the offensive numbers to pick up because he honestly just looks pretty good up there, works counts extremely well. He doesn't have to hit like a 3B, he just has to be a good 9 hitter and I think he's capable of that I'm also happy with us shopping for a replacement if the price is low
  23. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 11:41 PM) This is barely an acquisition, its a stop bleeding, temporary solution. He has been MUCH better than Brent Morel was in every way. It may turn out to be just a bench acquisition, but I can't say it's a bad move fuuu quoted wrong post
  24. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 11:39 PM) Brewers last year? That's why I asked, couldn't remember if the Brewers made a run last year lol
  25. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) His numbers are much better than what Qs were down in AA. Q does not have great stuff but what he does have is great command & when you locate pitches you can get big leaguers out just as Q is doing now. Doyle has BETTER stuff than Q with just as much command hence him getting a bunch of ppl out in AAA & ppl only hitting .199 off of him. Just doesn't make sense for an organization with very little in the pitching department in the minors. I think the Sox would have been happy to give him a chance when the spot came up, but it never happened. He was sick of waiting and could make much more money in Japan so he asked to be let go. We obliged him because at this point the odds of him even getting a cup of tea were low. Let the kid make some money, if he pitches well over there we can pick him up as a FA someday
