  1. IS EVERYONE PAYING ATTENTION: In what comes as no suprise, Hawk and DJ are talking up Roberto Hernandez like he is Bob Gibson. We've seen this happen many times in the past with other players the White Sox front office has locked in on. This could be completely coincidental, but, Hawk now has a proven track record in this type of behavior.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) I'd like to see him start and all, but now there's a few guys with better stats. I couldn't care less if he starts. That's not the point. With Ozzie managing, it is a lock.
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) According to gameday, Contreras' ERA is 3.54 now. Goodbye, ASG starter. What are you serious? Contreras could have given up 8 in 2+ today and still started the All-Star Game.
  4. The White Sox absolutely deserve to lose this game. Contreras, Widger, Anderson...all of them. This game looked a lot like the 2004 White Sox.
  5. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) Good choice...I went there for a couple of years so lemme know if you ever have any questions... Is there any other way to attend that school?
  6. Very glad to see there is still a place in professional sports--namely, the NBA--for a guy with a first-class attitude and a seemingly endless work ethic, but without grade-a skills or tools. Way to go, James! And, this just in, Dee Brown joins Deron in Utah? How cool is that? I detest the NBA with every fiber of my being, but, some interest is starting to return and I can't wait to watch the final members of the Final Four squad in the NBA. Best to both James and Dee.
  7. My prediction: If the Bulls select a player with both their second and sixteenth, the selections will be Tyrus Thomas and Ronnie Brewer respectively.
  8. Anyone else going out to see Nine Inch Nails in Tinley Park Saturday?
  9. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) How did he say the name? I assume it was I-AN? I get all sorts of crazy versions as well... E-IN, simple... He said I-AN. Exactly. It's not quantum physics. The name is pronounced E-IN, America. McNeil is not back today...I just heard Silverman do the 2:30 tease.
  10. ...and yes, I was the emailer Ian (pronounced E-IN...thanks Silverman, you bleeding dolt) that gave the Roberto Hernandez nugget to further bust Harry's balls.
  11. QUOTE(chiguy79 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) I have had a mixed experience with these employees this weekend and find they are in two camps 1) Very courteous and try to make the game a better experience (helped my sister w/ directions let her take the elevator vs. walking all the way around the stadium when trying to meet my parents) 2) Rude/Useless, could care less about you and arrogant (think security at the airport types) now if we could have more of the #1 personalities and less #2 that would be great. Anyone else have good/bad experiences... I wish I would have got both of their names so I could make reports on both with one getting rewarded and #2 getting kicked to the curb. That being said the old ladies at the cubs games who watch the sections are straight up evil, they make them sound like angels in the trib, but when I went there with a friend in great seat those ladies were grabbing 4 year olds by the ears and dragging them out of the seats they moved up to in a 13 inning game where all the Cubs fans left (shocker). Well, most people in any situation will fall into one of the two camps mentioned. That is just the nature of any workplace or, well, any social situation. You are actually suprised to find such a disparity? I will say this, if you feel strongly enough either way, you really should seek out management to either compliment or reprove said employees. Those kids make about $6.50 an hour and if they go out of their way to make your experience significantly better, I really do think they deserve some acknowledgement. At Wrigley Field, the section chiefs would wear a light blue shirt and often times carried a two-way radio. I no longer know if this is the case. However, these compliments usually did go notcied as the employee would be rewarded with a Wrigley Field gift card of sorts. I can't speak to the situation at USCF. QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) I thought I heard that some sports venues ENCOURAGE you to stay in the concourse/tunnels until there is a break in the action? Welcome to the Chicago Stadium. If you got up before a whistle, you were greeted with a broken nose. Naturally, this was a code created by and enforced by the fans. Hell, to this day I don't know if it was a written rule. But, that was how it went.
  12. Harry is back today. I just caught the tail-end of his apology to start the show. If anyone caught the whole thing, would you mind recapping it?
  13. I just like the title of the thread. I can't stop thinking of. "Oh, that? No. No. It means, "The Bart The."
  14. Petition Bud Selig up in the Milwaukee offices. I'm sure he'll be open to the idea.
  15. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 09:53 AM) That's good news for the Illini. I'm cautiously optimistic about Benn, I mean the fact is that Illinois has sold him enough to get into his top 4, beating out tons of other good programs already. Zook is a recruiter, now let's see if he can coach. I'll save you the wait--he can't.
  16. Pabst Blue Ribbon is usually my beer of choice. Yes, PBR is usually my beer of choice, all kidding aside. If I'm staying away from imports--which usually means only Corona, Heine's, or Peroni--it's either PBR or Coors Lite--a beer I'm starting to dig more and more. Unfortunately, my friends are Miller Lite whores and I'm usally stuck drinking a beer I'm not crazy about--oh well, such is the way of college life. My vote: Old Style. Absolutely awful. Undrinkable. I would rather finish a Pony-Keg of any of the other beers on that list than finish one can of Old Style. Chicago's Beer my ass.
  17. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) Yeah, but the confrontation originally happened on Friday the 9th, so essentially theyve already been suspended for more than a week. Maybe gone???? I didn't realize it happened on a Friday. Well, I just don't know then. I assure you they aren't gone. McNeil inked a new deal with them not too long ago and they have one of the highest rated shows in Chicago radio. They are nailing the 25+ demo they have gone after.
  18. It sounded as if those two would be given the rest of the week off when it first happened. However, hearing Silverman on yesterday and today, I wonder if Jeff Schwartz decided on an entire work-week off--dating back to the Tuesday or Wednesday the confrontation happened. ESPN has not really been forthcoming about what exactly is going on. To be perfectly honest, I have been listening to Boers and Bernstein nearly the entire time McNeil and Harry have been off and have been really enjoying them. Those two are very, very entertaining. I hate using an N of one, but, I can't imagine this hasn't hurt them in terms of ratings. This can not be good for the ratings. Silverman, DeFalco and Jurko have been nearly impossible to listen to.
  19. Who smokes more weed? A) Jeff Weaver B ) Brian Anderson Someone will get desperate around the deadline and with the Angels in a quasi-rebuilding mode, they'll find a taker and get something decent in return. Spitballing: Phillies, Astros, NL West Squad, AL East Squad
  20. I've kept quiet for awhile, but, this probably takes the cake as the most moronic thread on this site for quite some time.
  21. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 06:39 AM) FWIW, Garland is worth more than Madson. In what universe? Trading Garland for Madson in the off-season would be a fantastic move. Absolutely first-class. If I were a betting man, however, I'd put my money on Garcia to be pitching elsewhere. And don't give me any of that, "he has ties with Ozzie" bulls***. Kenny Williams would trade his own grandmother. He knows better than that. He knows better than that schoolyard bulls***. Garcia took a discount to stay with the Sox. He wants his and someone is going to give it to him this time around and it ain't going to be the Sox. He gone.
  22. Twenty? Now? Shouldn't you be starting your second year? Happy B-Day, bro.
  23. "Hey, kid, are you walking or working?"
  24. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) Ray is by far the funniest guy I've ever met. Albert is all bark and no bite. Would you say he watches the world as it goes by.
  25. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) $1.8 mil for the full season, so it's about $1.2 left this year. ...with the contract ending after the 2006 season. This was exactly the sort of guy Williams was looking for. If the bullpen continues on in these dire straits, he may go for broke and make some sort of blockbuster deal around the deadline. But, in the meantime, Riske will be used in an attempt to stop the bleeding. It's almost a showcase to see if more drastic moves need to be made.
