  1. That marks the first time I saw Pierzynski in a Sox uniform. He didn't do anything, but damn, I was still grinning from ear to ear. Half way home, Sox dominating.
  2. QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) nice little sliding grab by iguchi to get teixera. that was a nice f***ing sequence of pitches by bmac. he seriously just threw 3 fastballs at the exact same location, down and in at the knees. beautiful. Exactly. He is very, very impressive. This kid is gonna be a good one. I've never had the chance to watch him work, but I'm loving what I'm seeing. I Brandon McCarthy. It's no wonder Cooper and Kenny are salivating at the thought of such a good young arm.
  3. WOW. Iguchi with a great play to his right. Our little "Young Roberto Alomar" NICE PLAY!
  4. Brandon is a tall drink of water. 6'7 my goodness. He's faced 16 batters giving up only 1 hit. Way to get over to first on the throw. Wow. I'm liking this kid. He's also a fast worker (like someone else in our roatation).
  5. Nice hustle by Iguchi to get to third on that. Rowand scared me by trying to advance to second. I just turned the game on fellas. Who's pitching next inning?
  6. QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) I think most of us believe Borchard should have a career in the majors, where he can hit for HR power. He'll probably always have a high strikeout total, a low OBP, and a low avg [between .250-.275 at best] though. [There are guys who strike out a lot and have a high OBP. But Joe hasn't ever done that, and there is no reason to expect his hitting eye to turn around] The question then becomes, does Joe fit with the Sox in 2005 or 2006, in the best case scenario [high HR's, high K's, low OBP and low AVG]? It certainly seems the Sox brain trust are going in the opposite direction. With Anderson almost ready [power, avg and OBP], and sweet swinging Sweeney [avg, OBP and Power to develop] almost there, I find it hard to see where Joe fits Precisely. Although Joe may come into his own and learn to consistantly slug HRs at the major league level, it appears that is the exact type of player this organization is trying to get away from. If we didn't have Anderson and Sweeney so close to MLB ready, I'd say let Joe battle it out. I'm not saying a team doesn't need power production, but this team seems content with guys like Big Frank, Paulie, Dye, Jurrassic, and to a lesser extent Uribe, Crede, and Pierzynski for those types of numbers. A guy like Mackowiak would better serve this club because he can hit MLB pitching while playing a few positions. He has played OF, 3B, and even a little 2B in his career. He's not going to win a batting title, but he doesn't have to. In my estimation, this club is in the "must win now" frame of mind, and Joe simply doesn't fit into that setting. Someone like Mackowiak can come in and instantly add depth at a few positions while giving you some confidence to start him if someone goes down for a longer period of time.
  7. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) I strongly disagree. Borchard in my opinion will be a sink or swim player. Meaning he will either be an all-star or a flop. There will be no middle road with him. He is simply too talented a player for that option to exist. The only way he could become a middle road player is if an injury reduces some of his talent. Fair enough. You've backed up your claims very well. Believe me, I want nothing more than for your assessment of Borchard to become reality. However, I've also seen many talented collegiate athletes simply lose their game in translation. In the case of Borchard, he finds a way to stand out in the minor leagues but hit for a robust .180 something in the MLB. Now, to say Borchard is a potential MVP candidate, to me is quite a strech. Here's how I see things thus far: =
  8. He Gawn: can you link that Christina avatar you had for awhile. You have got to put the links for some of those hot avatars you've come across.
  9. At least he has sucked in his pride and is willing to work with Walker now. Now, I don't know if that situation was made worse by the media than it actually was, but for a while there, it seemed like Creded didn't want to listen to anybody. To his credit, his swing has looked better. He has a much more level swing and his weight distribution seems improved. For his sake, he better hope he gets on track, young Josh is breathing down his neck.
  10. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) No way. I am not giving up Borchard & prospects to get a guy who is a worse hitter than Harris. The dump Borchard gang on this board is getting psychiotic. Woa. When have I ever been associated with the dump Borchard gang? In fact, I have been rooting for Borchard to get on track for a couple of years now. He's really a good guy, it's just a shame his game did not translate well in the MLB, especially with that kinda of scratch. But, one has to start to wake up and smell the coffee. How much longer are we going to wait for him to come around? Anderson and Sweeny are well on their way to coming up the MLB and producting. Anderson has looked solid in the field and he has a great stick. Sweeny has one of the better swings I have every seen in the Sox minor leagues. Could Borchard eventually come around? Sure. Will he ever be an all-star? A resounding no. Would it be wise to try and trade him while some teams have the time and energy to invest in an underproducing player like him? You bet. He is shaping up to be a change of scenary guy. It happens. It's a little disappointing, but it happens.
  11. I've been screaming for Mackowiak for two years now. He would be an excellent fit for the White Sox and a local boy made good. He grew up a huge Sox fan and he was a Cub killer. That said, I still think Willie Harris has more value. Yup, I said it. Borchad and some prospect(s) for Mackowiak= In a heartbeat Willie and Borchard for Mackowiak= Not so fast my friend
  12. Don't get me wrong, I love listening to mindless Cub dribble just as much as the rest of you guys, but I firmly believe in, "there's always a bigger guy." For as much as you know, or think you know, there is always someone out there that can talk you under the table on any given subject (politics, academics, sports, movies). There is nothing worse than talking like an expert on a subject only for someone to come along and either tear your logic to bits or correct nearly everything you just commented on. Punch, I couldn't agree more with you're point on non-knowledgeable ticket purchasing. If you come out to the ballpark, you don't need to know everything about baseball (not that I'm saying any of you are implying that). In fact, not one of you have even touched on that. That said, when Cub fans bring up attendance it's very, very tempting to say, "I'd rather have 8, 000 knowledgeable fans in my ballpark than 30,000 drunken, cell-phone yapping, phone-number hunting, yupee idiots.

  14. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) Just try explaining to someone in Canada that you spend time on a message board talking about the Chicago White Sox. Excellent response.

    WTF

    Thank you so very much for that Kip. I'm having an absolutely awful week and I really needed a laugh.
  16. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 06:12 PM) Never know with the opinion you took to Willie's team pic. How quick to judge Mr. Greasy. Everyone has been b****ing for a week solid on this board. It's depressing. EDIT: Go back and read the thread in question; then, tell me who took things too far.
  17. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) How could you live in K Town if you're in Texas? He's talking about the streets between Cicero and Pulaski on the West Side. And yes, if you were to walk through there with your hat busted to the side, you'd probably get beaten to within an inch of your life. Were you busting your hat to the side 5 years ago? Or are you just trying to be like the clowns that you see in them rap videos? Good catch. I was a little confused. I didn't know how he could possibly live on the West side of Chicago while living in Texas. Things that make ya go hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Something tells me if Willie walked through K Town he'd have his hat in his backpocket. I'm just not sold on his "thug."
  18. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) :headshake Oh excuse me. I forgot I needed this.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 05:13 PM) Royce Clayton. Ding Ding.
  20. What's that s*** hanging from the back of his head? I'm a little weary. :rolly Remember the last SS in Black and Silver to sport that...um...look (or whatever you crazy kids call it).
  21. Konerko with a deep fly. Almost got the HR. We got a "Git' Up," but still no "Streeeeeeeeeeeech."
  22. "You can put it on the boarrrrrrrrrrrd....Yes!" Jurassic with some yardwork. #2 in ST. 15 lbs. lighter this season.
  23. Ozuna showing some good range to his right and throwing out a guy to first. Nice play. Good glovework. He was able to get in the hole, to the ball, and finish the play.
