  1. This is one case that I actually don't mind seeing a Domer get cut. Congrats Marc, you damn BC Eagle you!
  2. How many other teams' fansites do you think have these scenarios going around too?
  3. Oh god no. Randy is in a league of his own. Make no mistakes about it people...I acknowledge his ability. Quite frankly, regardless of previous posts/skirmishes...I no longer think RJ is consisdered the best pitcher in baseball, even if he has the best stuff. This is a game of bottom lines. The bottom line is, no matter how dynamite his stuff is, he's up there in age, he is the only draw in Arizona, he's highly paid, and it would take a lot to aquire him. If we had Yankee money, or a stocked farm system, then YES, get him. KW's hands are tied. This scenario would have us moving Paulie(which I'm ok with), Garland(which I'm ok with), and prospects(which I'm not). I think shipping off that s***head Garland would create another hole in the rotation that KW would attempt to fill with sub-par pitchers. No matter how much I dislike Garland, or how much I like Paulie, I think this is giving up a bit much...ESPECIALLY if a top-notch prospect is involved. Yes, I also understand the marketibility of a player like Johnson. Great PR move. In the end, I think this is all moot anyway. Unless the Diamondbacks can snag some big name FA, Johnson may not be going anywhere. He is the ONLY draw in AZ...well that and Bank One. Who are the fans going to come out and see if he's moved...Chad Tracy?
  4. Johnson 16-14 (I'm well aware he was on the Diamondbacks) 2.60 ERA, 35 GS, 4 CG, 245.2 INN, 290 K Oswalt 20-10, 3.49 ERA, 35 GS, 2 CG, 237 INN, 206 K Clemens 18-4, 2.98 ERA, 33 GS, 0 CG, 214 INN, 218 K Pavano, Schmidt, Carpenter also had good years in the NL. I love Randy...I don't know where people come off saying I don't. But, I don't think he is the #1 starter anymore. When you consider his age, his salary, etc., I think he no longer is considered THE top #1.
  5. "*You are basically arguing that you want the best 5th SP over getting the best #1 SP. That's your right. I'd rather have the best #1 out there, over a guy who would be in the bullpen should the Sox make the playoffs." "Whatever the case is, he's certainly in the top 3. Is that reason enough for you to throw a little fit over someone making a respectful point?" Thank you. I have no tolerance for people that put words in my mouth.
  6. Did you or did you not call Johnson the best #1 in the game? Cause.......I could of swore you did.
  7. *You are basically arguing that you want the best 5th SP over getting the best #1 SP. That's your right. I'd rather have the best #1 out there, over a guy who would be in the bullpen should the Sox make the playoffs. Survey Says...BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!! Wrong! Remember what mommy said about people that assume Johnson is not the best #1 in the game anymore. He was. He isn't anymore. Case in point.
  8. Now's the chance to step up to the plate for all of the Garland bashers and small-ball (Or as Ozzie calls it, "Little Ball") advocates out there. This trade would mean two things....*possibly three*. 1)Gload is the starting 1B for the Sox in 2005 2)s***head Garland will be out of the rotation, creating another 5 spot hole *3)Could mean the loss of Anderson, or another top-notch prospect* No. Bad trade on the grounds that we are giving up too much for a rent-a-player. I can't stand Garland, I don't think he has what it takes in between the ears to make it at this level, but he would be the best fifth starter in the league if the Sox were to just go out and sign a FA. I have no problem with trading Paulie Walnuts. AND...we might lose Anderson, a guy I think is going to thrive on the Sox in the not too distant future. Good idea KW, but again...giving up way to much.
  9. Believe it or not, the Sox ranked amongst the top of the AL in offensive statistics last year without Mags, and more importantly, without first ballot Hall of Famer, Big Frank. What should we expect from Frank in 2005? G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG??? Maybe the Admins can monitor this thread over the course of the year and we'll see who's the closest come October. Have At It!
  10. We can thank Chico Rivera for this first and ten. He has impressed the hell out of me with his defensive schemes. Angelo knowns what he's doing. Tillman and Vasher...both darkhorses.
  11. Is Sosa the perfect candidate for LA or what?
  12. Chicago White Sox Updated:11/04/2004 The White Sox plan to make a two-year, $8 million offer to Cleveland free agent SS Omar Vizquel, says St. Paul Pioneer-Press. So...is this like a done deal? Is Omar just as good as ours at this point? When can something be made official/expected to be made official?
  13. Expect the Sox to make little to no splash in free agency and hope for a trade involving some solid pitching. I think that trade is even too complicated for Kenny. I'm not much of a video game guy...but I think that is where you want to be. You can trade whoever you want...wherever you want!
  14. The idea is to put Shingo in a set-up role. Having two guys capable of closing can't hurt. I think Shingo earned the spot next year, but nailing down a guy like Urbina could only improve that pen.
  15. No ofense...but your last avitar was so much better! Dude, I laughed every time I saw it.
  16. Right on! Pinky-Cast-Foundation
  17. First broken bone came in my sophomore year of high school. It was a football injury. At the time I was the quarterback (that is, untill I stopped growing and everybody else kept going) and broke it when I stiff armed a CB and cracked it on his helmet. We were waiting for a week or two, but when the swelling didn't go down any my mom forced me in the car. It was a pinky-cast.
  18. Hit the nail right on the head. That's exactly what will happen, or is at least expected to happen. Urbina will be a Tiger at the start of the year, but who knows where he will end up or how the situtation with his mother will turn out.
  19. The dumbest statement ever made. Wait... Which one?
  20. I don't think he would take the pay cut to remain with them either. What I do think, however, is that the Twins would pony-up and sign him to the contract that he is looking for...and then call it quits. Sign the occassional "project player," or trade do free up some dough.
