  1. Anyone else love Rich Hill (even for a Cub)? What a great trade for the Brewers. I like Lee a lot but how can you justify giving Derek Lee 50 million then taking three cheap players and trading them for a guy who you will have to sign to a three year 30-39 million dollar contract. Thats fiscal insanity. Murton, not in power, but in average and OBP could be better than Lee this year. The pitchers could get under the tutelege of Mike Maddux and really become something. This would be a great trade for the small market Brew cres
  2. We'll see if Vazquez is much better than Loaiza. There is a ballpark difference and its a biggie but I fear that besides strikeouts, Loaiza will have the better numbers
  3. yeah history would seem to be a stretch. Some of those Yankee teams had great rotations and the BRaves had great ones too. Recall our 5th guy was Orlando Hernandez who had about a 5 era.
  4. Is Tyrus Thomas worth the number one overall? Not to me. He's Hakim Warrick 2 to me. Very exciting and a guy you certainly want but I don't think he's Chris Bosh
  5. Every guy that leaves this team is a selfish jerk. That or the organization is unprofessional and snipes at players to try to make themselves look better because die-hards will believe anything you tell them. There are two camps, I know which one I'm in
  6. My bad, I should have fact checked that. I thought I remember him running well for a big guy. Bad teams do run more though so I guess he could grab 10
  7. Dumb move but a common one. 22 year olds make mistakes and he's lucky no one got hurt. People shouldn't be defined by their mistakes, just how they handle them. If he learns his lesson and doesn't do it again (unlike a guy like Furcal or Leonard Little who got multiples) then he's cool in my book. Plus my fantasy team needs the strikeouts so he should get his act together!
  8. I for one am hoping he gets traded to Florida. He could end up being the most perplexing player in the history of fantasy baseball. Can you imagine having to consider a CF'er who hits 185 with 30 homers and 30 steals? It'd be insane. I just want to see him get 600 at bats some place and it might not be Seattle where that happens but then it could be. Florida would be a good spot and the Pirates have wanted him for a long time although they have no place for him
  9. It would make that Sox-Sopranos inner debate a lot easier....
  10. Yeah Managers don't usually put in two weeks notice. They get fired. If Ditka can get fired in this town, so can Ozzie. Of course, that's not gonna be for at least awile
  11. Thanks Salty. I wonder if Toys has any World Series or Sox stuff that would make it worthwhile. I guess you could buy the Sox DVD pack there and get the voucher
  12. I hate the speculation game as much as anyone and its hard to say with his injuries too but he's a guy who has really fallen apart in the last two years....
  13. The Kong signing is a Schwarts Sports one while the one on the 22nd is in Tinley. I know of no details at all of the other ones though. Just know that there is something as per www.csac.biz. Its a pay site but I figured a diehard might have heard something from somewhere
  14. Here are some that are coming up annd there are a few I need details on. Any help appreciated April 15-Joe Crede, don't know any details April 19-Mark Buehrle, don't know any details April 20-Bobby Jenks (provided he's not in AAA), don't know any details April 20-Cora($39), Ozzie ($59), Kong ($99/119) April 22- Brian Anderson (15/25), Gload and Rob M and Art Kusyner (15), Baines and Raines (20/30). If you can help me fill in the details on the first few guys you would help me and others out. Don't know if those guys are doing radio shows or autograph appearances and if they are pay ones or not. Thanks again
  15. espn's Hank Goldberg is reporting sources are indicating its a failed test
  16. what are you talking about? I said its believed he's been gone out of the country for at least a month and he either is or isn't smoking again with no indication in either direction.
  17. He's been in India for awhile now as per Cold Pizza. I would generally assume that he couldn't take a test from there. I don't know how testing affects most players as they surely vacation this time of year and I know that Williams is subject to more frequent testing. Not sure how this all went down but he has been out of the country for a months time and not necessarily smoking again
  18. If you are going to go by game log you have to remember that he was the number 2 back and he had a slow start from the time off. Clearly, his YPC were pretty good this year. I now believe that Ricky did not fail a 4th test. I think that he didn't take it because he's in India and that is what has caused all this. Thats what is between the lines on this story
  19. Yes I am aware of pot being an illegal drug. Think that most jobs, if they even test, do so when you are hired and then not really again. I don't know why sports would or should be any different. You might be doing illegal drugs after getting your job but unless your performance is hindered (and Williams' never was) then it shouldn't come up. Ricky Williams was never caught by the police, just the piss man. I'm just saying the piss man shouldn't exist
  20. yeah thats true although I'm not sure if they still forgive the 8 million or so they wanted back. Originally when he came back he said it was only for a year so maybe he flunked on purpose. I dunno. This is a mild surprise just because of all the reports about how much he liked Nick Saban and not having to be a 350 carry a year back since he had Ronnie Brown with him
  21. This is unfortunate. He was close to being all the way back to the guy he was with 1800 yards. Clearly pot doesn't effect his play. I don't smoke but I say if it doesn't hinder your performance, the NFL shouldn't regulate it. Thats just me
  22. If Redding's stuff comes back I would like to see him be the long man. People have a mixed up idea around here of what a longman really is. They want Mac to do the job thinking it will keep his arm stretched out for starting. However, sometimes the longman doesn't throw for 11-12 games at a time depending on circumstances. I'd rather see Redding be that 4-5 inning longman and Mac more of a guy who might throw the 6th-7-8 in a 5-2 ballgame, not the 11-3 ones
  23. I still struggle to think why we need a 2nd lefty. We should just keep the best pitcher that comes out of camp. We have a very good lefty who has begun to get lefties out and righties that get lefties out like Politte. I know its beating a deadhorse but The Angels and Marlins won World Series with no lefties (Michael Tejera not counting) and we won a championship nearly IN SPITE of having two lefties. Its just stupid for Ozzie to get locked in to thinking we have to have another lefty for the sake of having one
  24. Relievers are hard to predict but I think Cotts will be solid for awhile. Why the hell do we need a second lefty anyways? Cotts learned to get lefties out and Politte's good at it too. You don't absolutely have to have 2-3 lefties for the hell of it. The Marlins and Angels won titles without a single lefty. Actually I think the Mrlins might have had a guy named Tejera who got pounded by lefties but neither had a specialist. We don't need another KEvin Walker type just because we lost Marte
  25. nope. Born in America, Miami I believe. Its ridiculous but no more than Piazza playing for Italy and there are a few other examples. A-Rod catches the heat because of two things: He's an easier target and high profile, and because the DR is a legitimate threat to win it all whereas Italy would not be
