The plot thickens
Punch and Judy Garland replied to LosMediasBlancas's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
its hard to say what that video shows since its a small section so the context can be manipulated but it certainly sounds like a different story than we all heard early this morning. Whether his wife started it or not, it really doesn't make Davis' actions any better or worse because how the hell was he going to know. In fact, maybe, just maybe, he went into the stands to stop her from hitting the fan. Just a thought -
angelo's dinner with t.o.

I think TO would be a god pickup for certain teams with certain coaches and particular QB's but I think Lovie Smith isn't that coach and I think TO would eat Rex Grossman alive -
QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) Youkilis is a damned good player. I'd take him over Lee in an instant based alone on the price Lee would be (especially if the Yankees are pursuing him) Back away from the Moneyball! Nice and easy now..........

Cardinals sign Jeff Nelson to minor league deal
Punch and Judy Garland replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
Yeah Flores is now in King's role as top lefty. Its Izzy-Flores-Looper-Rincon and then its Brad Thompson probably and then I'd imagine its between Nelson and Wainwright plus the other 30 guys that are always competing for that 11th spot on a staff int he spring -
espn.com 2 years 15.4 million. 6 this year and 9.4 next avoiding arbitration both years. He is a free agent after 08. Isn't this a mild departure for Scott Boras? I know he doesn't trade away free agent years but I thought he only went year by year until then

Cardinals sign Jeff Nelson to minor league deal
Punch and Judy Garland replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
Yeah as long as you use him on righties he is very good. No doubt about it. I think that their pen should be pretty good this year again. Looper and Rincon are two guys who I think might have struggled in many places but should be solid with Dave Duncan and TLR -

It probably was a fumble in the endzone but I don't think it can be argued that any replay shown during the telecast had irrefutable evidence. It was kind of hard to tell because Champ's arm swung forward on the hit and it had an odd trajectory. Yeah i really dislike the Chargers. I think its because they were getting undeserved credit all year for losing games oddly when you shouldn't get credit for losing so much. An example of that is how guys like Peter King had them ranked as a top 2 team most of the season despite having lost several games -

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) I like Plummer, not the Broncos though, but why would a Chiefs fan like them. True. I use to despise the Chiefs but it became hard to hate them after Marty left and one of the nicest coaches in the game( Vermeil) went there. Plus I like Penn State football so its nice to see Larry do so well. I do think that fantasy sports can diminish hatred for a team (along with seeing your team win it all). So I no longer hate the Chiefs. I do hate the Raiders though -

You can guess what kind of mood I am in! We won't have another 49-24 game in Indy. Not saying we will win but this is a better team this year. Quite the coming out party for Jake tonight as he can put those stupid nicknames like Jake the Fake and Jake Mistake to bed permanently. I think he was already past that point but the national media hadn't figured it out yet. There are surprising parallels actually betwen the Broncos this year and our Sox championship team. Both played the under the radar angle -
Baseball Analysts ranks Anderson and Young
Punch and Judy Garland replied to SSH2005's topic in FutureSox Board
I think if Thome jacks 40 homers, it doesn't matter if Chris Young is a HOF'er. In fact, I always wish our traded guys like Rauch or Reed or Gio to do very well -
Expect big years from Contreras and Crede
Punch and Judy Garland replied to striker's topic in Pale Hose Talk
While I generally agree iwth what you said, there are examples of guys like Edgar Renteria, Kevin Millwood (the 04 version) and a few otehrs who have struggled playing for the pressure of a contract. usually though, its coupled with injury issues (as is the case with the two guys I mentioned and Jamal Lewis in football) -
QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 11:55 PM) I thought a player actually had to be on the field to win a Gold Glove.. Nope, its the Raffy Palmeiro rule
-
QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 02:22 PM) Um... Abreu won a gold glove this past year, he has to be a good OF to win that award I know. It never ceases to amaze me the silly things I hear Sox fans say about players from other teams. Its like their just making it up. I know where talk radio gets their callers from

Draft Order Is In

Davis won't be traded. There won't be a market for backs in the trade market. You need another back with Bush anyways. The person this really hurts is Morency -
Brewers acquire Corey Koskie from Blue Jays
Punch and Judy Garland replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
The Brewers will be this year's Indians. They will push the Cardinals but Weeks and Fielder and Hardy iwll have those ups and downs that come with their age and experience. I am of the belief that Weeks will grow to be a HOF player, I'm very high on him. They should have quite a run in Milwaukee. The real question with this trade is whether Hillenbrand goes and Glaus plays third or if they maintain their plan to DH Glaus and use Shea at third or split time -
question about the curry trade
Punch and Judy Garland replied to thedoctor's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
What is Darko? 20? Plenty of time. I think he wants to be good. He may be childish at time but thats to be expected. Its so hard to give up on Eddy Curry or Kwame Brown or Darko because even if it took them 10 years which is an eternity to figure it out, they'd still only be 28 -

Could you imagine this in baseball? I can't. I guess the basketball equivalent, and I don't know how prevalent this really was, but it was always claimed that Stockton had his assist totals padded at home. -
I know, that Patrick bit seems moronic. Plus, the PTI guys hammered Childress for using the Viking boat line. If they wanted to do a bit about is as comedy I'd understand but to criticize Childress for it is making a mountain out of a molehill

I think Messiah will sign for the highest dollar when he's a FA and I have to think the Cubs will not spend the money to keep him because you have to figure even though he has had some similar problems to AJ Burnett, he'd blow his 5/55 out of the water

question about the curry trade
Punch and Judy Garland replied to thedoctor's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Couldn't disagree more, I think Channing is going to be much better but I guess we'll see -
I don't think Abreu gets swapped from the Cubs to the O's because I don't think the O's want Abreu. I tend to think that Abreu is the least coveted player in the triangle so I'm not sure he gets moved, unless this rumor comes to fruition. If the O's traded Tejada for Abreu they get no better and the Phils have neither the young pitchers to add on (Floyd and Hamels are too risky and Madson won't go anywhere) while the Phils want to add pitching rather than subtract in my opinion. I think one of these teams (likely the Phils or Cubs) gets left out in the end

question about the curry trade
Punch and Judy Garland replied to thedoctor's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The cap room is clearly not debatable as the Bulls are in better shape by a landslide and the Knicks are the most poorly run team (financially) in the NBA, or at least darn near it. Better young talent? Maybe. I dunno. I'm high on Channing Frye so I tend to think that Curry and Frye compared to Tyson/Hinrich/Gordon is close to a push. I think both teams have some youn talent but most are complimentary pieces. Neither team has a build around star which will be the problem that plagues both. Out of those 5 guys, none are franchise players. Both teams could use a year in the tank to get an impact guy (or just get lucky later int he draft) -
Abreu will rake in Wrigley but I wouldn't trade Prior under pretty much any circumstances if I were a gm on a team with him

Punch and Judy Garland replied to thedoctor's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I think the Knicks will be be the better team in 07 but there aren't a lot of signs of life in either place so switching spots may or may not be a big deal.
