Official Game Thread 6/24 - Stros vs Sox 12:20

You have to put pitch selection on the pitcher, they are ultimately responsible. Widge called good pitches for Mac (back to back changes to get the third out on Munson). I don't buy it that its Widgers fault -

that was a brain cramp on the double play and Dye was wrong to throw home in the 4th (it didn't cost us but it allowed the runner to go to second. There is a chance it was the cutoff man's fault but the ball couldn't go home on that play as it wasn't really close -

Lewis is brutal, he reminds me of Niles from Murphy Brown. THis one doesn't feel like a winner today. Not pitching worth a s*** and not hitting either -
Yeah tonight was like a rehab assignment. THe results are meaningless as long as the player feels no pain today
-
I disagree. I think Pujols was fighting hard to get in the lineup as soon as he can and he passed every test they threw at him in the last few weeks.
-
If his oblique was still cranky, hitting is harder than fielding so a move to DH makes no sense. I think he;s fine and am not surprised he's back already. He's shown in the past with multiple injuries that he's willing to play through more pain than most guys. It's good for baseball that it's brightest star is back

Since manager's can't appeal, anything he gets he serves unless it was so unfair that Ozzie sued MLB. Peter Gammons today reported that he thinks Ozzie will receive an additional suspension of a very short length

A thought regarding managers at the All Star game
Punch and Judy Garland replied to tigerfan's topic in The Diamond Club
The problem with that is that best record is so fluid that you'd have to cut it off in time to select the team and by the time the game comes around, theres a good chance they won't have the best record anymore. -

I'm going for just the second time this year. Not really happy about the rain but a delay means more time for parking lot bean bags! -
Pujols status for the series.

Well he wouldn't get to face Garland at least! I don't think he'll go on a rehab. I think he'll get back in their asap. THe only way I see them rehabbing him is if Edmonds says he can't yet play center -
Diamondbacks Cut Ortiz; Eat $22 Million
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Hangar18's topic in The Diamond Club
From my recollection, Sox fans were appalled at the idea of getting this guy whereas he seemed to be an obsession to an extent of one Kenny Williams. Luckily we have all five rotation spots filled so Kenny can't fulfill his Russ Ortiz fantasies. -
The problem with drunk driving is that people don't learn how to drive drunk

It's a tough call. He's the perfect high leverage pinch hitter but if he can't run. he can't run. Maybe two weeks off will be just what the doctor ordered

Ron Necciai: The man who struck out 27 in 1 game

right but did he do it on 81 pitches like Steve Nebraska? -
Toughest Athlete?

Jeff Bagwell. Amazing threshold for pain. True gamer -
Frank had a good night with a walk and an RBI single with a run scored but he was pinch run for so I wonder if he might have pushed it back a tad soon or if this was just Macha trying to avoid Frank having to run so soon back. Haven't se the game and htere is no injury note yet

I don't think he hit enough homers to have any real suspicion. He went to Japan because nobody wanted him. It's more possible to hit 35 homers when you air it out every time Plantier style.

I love Sutt. George Clooney. You been reading about all that? Contreras was unreal by the way

I'm just saying, and this as a guy who was thrilled we traded for him and extended him and had NO problem with him on the mound in game 4, that there is perhaps a big warning sign here. He clearly doesn't keep his personal committments. The man recently failed a drug test. With all the specualtion that we are trading a starter before next season, maybe Freddy Garcia has peaked or is at his peak for what he is going to be. I know he has a family relationship with Ozzie but we just might look back three years from now and realize we should have traded Garcia when we could have gotten a lot for him
-
Speaking of Freddy, I read where he blew off Sportsfest. This after blowing off the same event in November and missing soxfest in the past. Makes you wonder about a guy's character doesn't it?

Mac and Harry fight in studio

THey seem like good friends. Who among us who argues sports with our friends doesn't raise our voice once in awhile? And we don't even have to talk 4 hours a day to our friends. They really do make good radio on a daily basis -
Rockies Look for Character
Punch and Judy Garland replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Diamond Club
Chatter was that Longoria and Andrew Miller were a bit wary of this movement and justifiably so. There is nothing wrong with having Christians in the lockerroom who will help out guys who want to be helped. But when you start getting in other player's business who don't want to be involved then there is a SERIOUS problem. -
QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) This would be great if Pujols was on roids, it would just turn all of these reporters into complete hypocrites because I guarentee they would not give Pujols half the s*** they've given Bonds. Great? Come one, that's the dumbest thing I've read in a while. Poor Barry Boo-hoo
