Who wouldn't mind this for an offseason?
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Butter Parque's topic in Pale Hose Talk
At least if we got Zaun he'd stop terrorizing us. Him and Catalanatto raked against us last year. -
Another Part of Gammons Article
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It is interesting to note that most of us agree that the Sox were wrong to move Foulke because he didn't throw hard enough despite being pretty successful and now we're saying the same thing about Shingo. -
I wouldn't judge Odalis on only two starts. Black Jack got rocked twice in the 93 playoffs, it happens to good pitchers. He;s a guy who doesn't walk anybody and is still very young. I would be very excited about adding an arm as good as his.

thomson mgith have been forseeable but most people though Hampton and Wright were lost causes. Mazzone is incredible and I want no part of Millwood. Would he come on the cheap? Isn't Boras his agent? I just don't trust Kevin Millwood.

Trib Article Claims Payroll Stays the Same
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
For the guy who mentioned the same attendance, the revenue sharing has increased. Accoridn to Rosenthal, teams SHOULD be able to increase payrolls this eyar due to the overall attendance boon. However, with the Sox history and a potential decrease in radio revenue, I see payroll falling into the 60's again. -
Bruce Levine Reports (Speculation)
Punch and Judy Garland replied to CWSGuy406's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There are times (like when I believe it was Konerko hit a walkoff this year) where I swear Hawk is loaded. I think it's great though. That particular call got him on Sportscenter. -
Buy your tickets for May 12, that could be the homecoming of Mr. Maggs Ordonez. I'll cheer him if he's with the O's but I expect a very interesting reaction.

Bruce Levine Reports (Speculation)

Is there anything better than when DJ goes on some sort of vague 3 minute diatribe where not even he knows where he's going and then Hawk will say something like "I don't know about all that" and make DJ look foolish. It's pretty funny stuff when they go at it. I do like how Hawk calls him Darrin "3-putt" Jackson. Speaking of golf stories, I really miss Whimpy. -
Agreed but the biggest man in pro baseball is sorta in the way there.....

I don't think that fans DESERVE to win. That's not part of the deal. That always annoyed me about the Red Sox fans. THey generally believed they earned the right to watch their team win a WS. There are no guarantees in fandom and if you believe you are entitled to anything more than effort, you will probably end up disappointed. I couldn't agree more about there being no such things as curses. That said, the Sox have to win soon because we can't let this dry spell hit 100.
-
Well you may have started name calling, but I've said my piece and will leave it at that

I find it funny that Sox fans can find a great deal of fault in dreamy (read:not going to happen) Randy Johnson or Pedro Martinez pickups. PLease no more Jason Grilli. If we take Pedro and Randy and still lose, then at least we lose with a guy whose jersey you want to ask for for Christmas.

Kapler has the baseball IQ of Timo Perez. Does anyone remember the Patriot's Day game where he forgot how many outs there were on the basepaths....on 2 consecutive plays.

I'm sorry to disagree but I think that the medium does not provide a license to be irresponsible with free speech. I'm not saying that message boards can't be fun with a lot of joking, but I think lines could/should be drawn when it comes to the physical well being of players/fans/front office.
-
For us to comment on the contract situation is not a great idea since none of us really know what went on, just what we hear. Would you take information from the spin room and decide who won a debate? Probably not. Another thing, even if it is joking any comments made about being happy a player is injured is the real black-eye on the organization and is beneath the class held by good White Sox fans.

Apparently, most sports fans dont think much of us
Punch and Judy Garland replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I've thought for a while that it's time to reembrace THe Big Hurt. He's going to wear our cap into the Hall, we may as well go along to get along. I don't want to be like the Sawx or the Cubs where all of your mothers' friends who don't like baseball root for your team. I just want to win a playoff series or even a game right now. This brings up a good question. Which White Sox team did you feel during the season had the best chance. 83, 93, 94, 2000, 03, or 04. As good as some of the others were, I think at one point during 03 I thought we were teh best team on the planet with a rotation that could have carried us to through the W.S. Then the usual happened. -
Yeah but he doesn't even walk to his car. I'm not MR. OBP but I was under the impression that walks are an area of the game the Sox were going to look at improving.
-
I could be wrong but I don't think Esteban comes in at $2. I think he will be $3-3.5 unless he comes in at a discount, but that is also a paycut so I'm not sure if he'd be thrilled with that. Just a hunch, but I bet Atlanta is thinking about Loaiza as yet another reclamation project.
-
You (an I'm referring to those who don't want to trade any of our top 3 prospects) don't get it. A prospect does not necessarily mean being part of our future plans. If starting and keeping your prospects meant success then bad teams would become good and good teams would become bad. Would I trade a guy who is doing well at AA for Randy Johnson? Yes. I will trade a guy who could be good for a guy that I know has won 6 CY. I want a championship and Randy Johnson brings us closer to one than keeping Brandon McCarthy or Ryan Sweeney.
-
Remember, you have to sell season tickets in Arizona. I think to give up Johnson, they'd want Lee or Konerko (assuming they can't resign Sexson). I don't like trading Garland because then we still need another starter. If we can give up Lee/Konerko and then top prospects I would do it in a heartbeat.
-
Actually it's shawn chacon. History has dictated that it takes awhile for a pitcher leaving Coors to come back. He was a solid starter but he had arm troubles that led to him beingthe worst closer in baseball. I'd definitely have to pass on him.
-
Landing Johnson would be very exciting. Plus, he's only got one year elft so we would have payroll felxibility after 05 to pursue a tim Hudson or Roy oswalt
-
We don't match up with Oakland at all. We don't have anyone to give up for Zito. They most likely can't afford Lee or Konerko although I would do either trade
-
No way they get Delgado. His legs will not allow him to do much mor ethan DH, same problem they have with Giambi. I think there is no chance of that.
-
I think that if you look at his hr numbers then he's not a fit, but I think a healtheir Matt Morris next year will make those stats less meanignful. If we look at his struggles with the longball this year, just don't discount what it means to have a guy who won 22 games in 2001. I think that's not to be discounted. Which pitcher of ours would you feel good about throwing in a game 7 in NY/Boston right now? Morris is that type of guy who is capable of being dominant. On his game, he's a top 5-10 pitcher in this league-but we would need to get a good look at his shoulder before anything serious.
