  1. Ozzie is full of s*** on this one. He's been very good, but MVP? Nope. Probably fluff praise anyways
  2. Perhaps a three way deal where we send Contreras to Philly, Wagner to us, Baez to the Phils, and something like Hamels/Howard/Floyd and Gio/Mac/Anderson *obviosuly one of each group) to the Drays. Not sayign it would be a good deal for any side but I guess I could envision something like that. Philly would get a closer who will be around past this year (I think), we'd get our power closer although we'd still need to add another starter, and Tampa gets two outstanding prospects. Just typing outloud
  3. what did he say abotu anyone that wasn't true or is this an excuse to have a Steve Philips roast? Predictable.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) has a nice look to it!
  5. As a less important side note, would Griffey sell tickets and steal headlines? Yep. That's not the most important thing but its something
  6. How can you not worry about a guy in his mid-30's with a bad back? Being a power guy, I wouldn't sweat a knee, ankle, or shoulder but a bad back reminds me of Mike Sweeney and his problems too much. Maybe if he was towrds the end of his deal I'd roll the dice, but he's in the middle of it
  7. Yankees will NOT claim him. No one will. Then they'd have to swallow the whole contract. Walker made a lot of money which is why he went through. But, once he passes through-you can still negotiate money so that you don't have to pick all of it up
  8. 2 quick points. Griffey can only play center because its easier on the hammy's to play center than to have to do the turn and throw from the corner outfielder spots. THis is according to JD Drew. The other point is that Griffey might be the one big name out there whose contract is so big that he could get moved in August. THis might be a Larry Walker deal where it goes down weeks after the deadline.
  9. Depending on the money, it would only take one player to get Griffey. They nearly took Nevin 2 years ago and they would take only Rowand today. If you want them to pay more of his contract (which they seem against doing) then you might start talking about more prospects but I think he's off on this.
  10. With the velocity down a smidge it isn't quite as good as before but his power change will evoke memories of Johan at times. Plus, on a steamy night-he was pretty darn good last night. I watched the whole game and he was excellent. He touched 94-95 but hit 93 more with the 4, 90 with the 2 and the change was coming in around 84-86 from what I could tell. He has learned how to pitch at his current velocity and is a better pitcher than AJ with more postseason experience. That said, we might need the Flubs to sweep the Giants to get them really to think about selling.
  11. You'd have to give up Bmac for Huff. LaMarr should be sent to an institution.
  12. I wouldn't trade Mac for a rental. Schmidt would be different since you get at least one more full year but I wouldn't do it for three months of a player unless he were one of the games greatest pitchers, not merely a pretty good one with great stuff.
  13. If I'm Burnett, I'm settling for no les than four years. If I'm the Sox, I don't give it to him. I think a no four year policy for pitchers is too cautious when it comes to guys like Buehrle (and Garland in a year and a half from now) but its a good policy when dealing with the Burnetts and Woods of the world.
  14. I wanted to puke hearing "Let's go red sox" in our park. We desperately need a Garland win tomorrow or we might get swept in front of full houses four nights in a row which would be disgraceful.
  15. We haven't given away a game this badly all year, including the Oakland series (plural). I guess the one-handed Timo effect is catching on too much in the clubhouse.
  16. Great catch by Paulie, that's two very similar this month but the other one might have been a fair ball, this one would have been foul
  17. I don't know. THey would rid themselvs of Lowell, Arroyo might be pretty above average in the NL and Mays might benefit by pitchign there also.
  18. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) He's given up 4 runs or less in 16 of his 19 starts. He's given up 3 runs or less in 12 of his 19 starts. He has gone to the 7th inning in 14 of his 19 starts. Would have been 15 but he got hurt in the game he was dominating against KC. Inconsistent? Not so much. He has as many "bad" (More than 4 runs) outings as Burly and Garland at 3. Going into his game the other night he was 20th in the league in ERA. So in other words, maybe you should look at the numbers before you make ridiculous, and incredibly wrong, statements like this: "That said, its not surprise that he's inconsistent and he's been a little better than even his biggest supporters might have guessed." After looking at the numbers, you fail to point out his bad home/road splits. He's given up more than three times as many homers at home than on the road and his opponent's BA is around 60 points higher at home. If you think he's been consistent then get your head out of your stat sheets and watch the f***ing games.
  19. I'm not going to look at the numbers before saying this but it seems like he chokes at home based off my memories of his Detroit and Arizona performances. His numbers against the BoSox are less than inspiring. That said, its not surprise that he's inconsistent and he's been a little better than even his biggest supporters might have guessed.
  20. Yeah I think he will be a Met next year
  21. Don't know the particulars but Odalis has had some clubhouse issues over the last month. I did want him instead of Duke before the year though. He hasn't been healthy much this year.
  22. People gave me a hard tiem when I suggested Furcal was better than Uribe. He'd sure be looking better as a Sox player now than Juan
