When we were playign really well it was funny how people here (not all but many) said that Juan Uribe is better defensively than Rafael Furcal and even as dangerous offensively. Neither were true then and certainly not now. Now, I don't know if offering Furcal 40 million over 5 years is a good move but he's good enough of a player that he will command that deal from someone. I really like Furcal and Brian Giles and will puke if they become Cubs.

Game Thread vs Seattle Aug 27th @ 9:05
Punch and Judy Garland replied to knightni's topic in 2005 Season in Review
keep swinging for the fences Juan, it's only safeco field with two outs and a runner on second. Wouldn't be a good tiem for a simple base hit or anything -
Leagues Top Hurlers velocity-wise
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Kyyle23's topic in The Diamond Club
Yeha Harden and Oswalt were the two best average fastballs last season if I recall. -
Since Garland has faded a bit since ealrier in the year and Mark had a rough patch and feel behind in wins, its hard not to admit that Bartolo Colon is the most deserving guy as of this moment.

I swapped Rivera for Clemens after the leg break and it turns out it was a good move. Still, I liked the idea of having both for my playoffs.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 07:24 AM) What the hell was with that throw to the ground..? I think we've all been there before
-
No question its Mark. There are lefty-dominated lineups like Anaheim and Okland too which make it a good move too

Yeah I don't get why someone would feel outrage over the players egging the kid on. It's just male fun, that's all. The bread thing is actually true. I couldn't do it. Lastly, I made it to 89 in the century club before I lost lunch. I still finished the next 11. I remember feeling great at 88 and then....wow. It's a lot of fun to do.

I believe you physically can't goldmember, that's why its a sucker bet. Stupid suspension though. Sounds like simple dugout fun. When did this happen if it was Penny and the Marlins. Was it when the Dodgers just played them?

Kent has one year left but he won't pass through waivers as his deal is reasonable enough that Minnesota, Houston, The Mets, and a slew of others would want to claim him

Why Does Jermaine Dye Get a Pass
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Colorado Sox Fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's time to give Brian Anderson a look now. I think that both the notions that Dye "carried us" and given us a pass are both incorrect really. He was called Jermaine Dead for a long time and he got better but it wasn't like he played THAT great. The issues with this offense are plentiful, to the point that finding a scapegoat like Dye doesn't accomplish much. -
AND THAT'S ANOTHER WHITE SOX LOSER!!!
Punch and Judy Garland replied to nitetrain8601's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm glad I'm back at school so I can get away from games like tonight. We might not actually EVER beat Santana again. Really. We should start Arnie Munoz against him next time -
Steroid Announcement Friday?
Punch and Judy Garland replied to spataro51's topic in The Diamond Club
yeah all this really means is the minority of the people who thought that there was some reasonable explanation/excuse absolving Palmeiro are going to be disappointed -
Steroid Announcement Friday?

in an overall related topic, there is a report out that transcripts involving Raffy's testimony during the appeals process gave little explanation as to why he tested positive -
Steroid Announcement Friday?

I took Neyer's comment to mean that if Clemens had a bad outing last night that he;d possibly have a different opinion today on the CY. Clemens was bad last night (well at least in the 7th). I didn't gather he meant anything about the rumor -

Apparently turning from the corners of the field causes the problems. I recall this as the rational why Drew wanted to play center for LA and have Bradley in the corner
-
Griffey shouldn't be used in left because the corner outfield is harder on the hammy's. I'd play him in center pretty often and DH him a bit too
-
no link from me steff but I've heard the hgh-eye stuff, might have come from Buster olney. Do you guys want to go to the playoffs and have the entire media focus on Raffy Palmeiro instead of the 25 guys we have? What are you saying to the guys in our lockerroom when you bring in a juicer? IF you want a roided up player still, he should be a better one thatn Raffy.

Grossman's Season Basically Over
Punch and Judy Garland replied to DukeNukeEm's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Just to reiterate my point, Rattay had a very good night tonight. Perhaps too good though as SF may not want to deal him now. He is a guy who isn't goign to win you a superbowl, but like a Billy Volek could take you to the playoffs in theory -

Trade a number 3 for Tim Rattay. He's the best available in the market -
I say give him sundays game off and then the next two. That or give him today off to make it 2 straight

Nobody really KNEW anything about Canseco and steroids ( at least at the management level) but a lot of people pretty much assumed. I don't blame the Sox at all but they probably did tell themselves what they wanted to hear.
