Mark: We need you badly tommorrow
Punch and Judy Garland replied to White Sox Josh's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree. Losing the division and making the wild card is the kiss of death to me because we would be the only team out of 8 that would go in on a negative note. We MUST win the division to have a chance to do ANYTHING in the playoffs. I think people are using the wild card as a crutch hope but you can't tell me that we can recover quickly enough to win three series if we blow this lead. That said, let's win some f***ing games so this isn't a problem -
What the hell is Brantley's problem?
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
BTW, how are you below average at best when you once saved 44 games, made an all-star team and have a career era below 3.5. You can disagree with him or think his opinions are worthless but he could pitch. -

Schlereth wasn't that good? That's just ignorant. Ask John Elway and Terrell Davis what kind of a player he was. Anyways, only paranoid sox fans would watch their team lose 12.5 games off a lead in 6 weeks and then b**** about the national media. It's silly. Let's win some games to inspire confidence in others. Hell, we don't have any confidence as sox fans now because the players don't believe in themselves right now -
buster is a nickname. The chat room has had his real name before but I can't remember what it is

Jose has been wonderful since the break, no doubt about that. Esteban has been pretty good too this year though-it worked out well not for us and the Yanks but both us and the Nats are probably pretty pleased

Hernandez is one of those guys a team might clamor for in June or July when they are desperate but will NOT be interested in before the season due to better and cheaper options. I think at this point he needs to be in the NL. Washington or Florida would be best for his career.

Yeah, Benson could still become a 1500 yeard rusher by next year and it'd look like a goo dpick. But, when you compare his value over Jones to the value of was Mike Williams against Bobby Wade or Gage-I think you see where I'm going with this.

White Sox vs. Twins 09/18/05
Punch and Judy Garland replied to S720's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Fair or not (because it is largely a talent problem) the hitting coach is responsible for the approach and success of an offense. In which case, Walker should either be gone by now or not be brought back next year. -

Looks like Kyle Lohse has turned the corner........or corpseball would make anyone look adequate. -
Thomas Jones is a good NFL starter in my opinion. That's why I never got the Benson pick. That said, looks like a big win for the Bears today and Joey Harrington not having a good day. This division blows. Let't see how Green Bay responds today. The BEars might have the only c-plus or better D in the division. Detroit's is a bit overrated after last week, Minnesota's is obviously overrated (even to my surprise) and we all know Green Bay's hasn't been good in years.

Step it Up El Duque!!!!!
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah 80-85 pitches for a starter is unacceptable on a regular basis. Granted, he's been better than the usual suspects who took the 5-hole befor ethis year, but that had every bit as much to do with Kenny/Ozzie/Manuel as it did with the guys who pitched in those spots. I was an advocate of trading McCarthy at the deadline but I think clearly now he needs to take the 5th spot for next year. I don't have any idea what you do with Hernandez. Just enough money to not want to waive him and also too much to really trade him before the season. -
This team doesn't inspire me in the least. It cannot and will not win deep in the postseason. The 03 team at least had a shot if we made it there. That team had its flaws but had a superior offense along with less pitching depth but 1-3 it was as good or better. I bought into Ozzie-ball after some skepticism but now I feel foolish for thinking that this is how you win games.

They have to trade some outfielders for arms. However, they had a chance to get Brandon McCarthy and probably another good arm for Huff and Baez and they blew it. Getting rid of Huff would have been the only smart thing to do. WIth Young, Crawford, Baldelli, Gomes, and Gathright-there was no need ot keep Huff at 7 million. What a clipper-esque organization down there.

Let's set the over/under on Johan K's. I'll set it at 11. No pushes allowed. Discuss. By the Way-Santana owns us so bad its unreal -
$8 million a year is worth the risk on his back in my opinion. However, you have to feel that if they are going to eat that much then they will demand premium talent in return.
-
How much will the Phillies eat on the contract? that's the question when it concerns whether or not he come sto the Twins or the Sox or anywhere at all
-
I see what you are saying about Garland but he's a sinker guy in that park. Plus, Philly will have a lot of Billy Wagner dollars to spend and they are a team that will spend anyways. Given the new climate of not letting guys get to free agency, I think Garland would be a very attractive option-depending on whether Ed Wade is still there. That said, I would be reluctant for us to do it even though Howard is the type of guy this team needs.
