Statistically how to beat Manny and Ortiz
Punch and Judy Garland replied to joeynach's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I just hope that Jose remembers to use all of his pitches. -
Some drunk will spoil it for you at the reception, maybe not even a drunk. Plus, there will likely or possibly be a tv near the bar or in the building of the reception. Its dangerous. Unless, literally everyone knows you are taping it then maybe they will keep quiet around you

wednesday at 6? Ouch. Lost is on at 8, hoping for a blowout!

Anyone else cheering for the Cubs?
Punch and Judy Garland replied to DonkeyKongerko's topic in The Diamond Club
I'd love to see Baggy get a ring but I am a Cards/White Sox fan. If Housotn goes to the series than Bagwell wouldn't have to only pinch-hit. He'd help neutralize to an extent the DH advantage the AL has -
Anyone else cheering for the Cubs?

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) I think I am today. They've just rallied off Oswalt to take a 4-3 lead. I love one game playoffs and really want to see Philly get a shot at the wild card. why don't you sit the next few plays out champ just kidding -
What's your #1 key to a ALDS win?
Punch and Judy Garland replied to sircaffey's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Manny was garbag ein the 03 alds so it is possible. My number on thing: Average starter length: must exceed 6. If we are going we could be in trouble. I think we will do ok in this respect -
Atlanta is easily the best value bet left on the board. Long odds but they have a pretty decent chance to do something in the NL

Don't expect to rock Clement. It will be low scoring. The shadows will reak havoc, I exect a pretty mild offensive affair -

Season Finale 10/2 Game Thread
Punch and Judy Garland replied to AddisonStSox's topic in 2005 Season in Review
gamethread is packed! Just kidding. People deserve a day off to watch some football even if there is no Bear game. At least we get two games at the same time now -
I agree, on the other hand-doesn't it give the one game playoff team significant momentum? I think if the Red Sox were to fail to win tomorrow and still make the playoffs they would go in on a real down note.
-
I really wasn't trying to pick a fight by starting the thread, just a discussion. Mainly, its to appreciate Franks' great season which didn't land an award. I don't usually start topics looking for a particular person to respond. Anyways, A-rod 4 for 5 today, Ortiz had an insignificant day at the dish today. I think Ortiz needs to single-handedly put his team into the wild card tomorrow in order to have a shot at the mvp

Nothing gets past Guillen

QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) the entire first half of the season, whenever they would happen to mention the sox on baseball tonight. please dont tell me you are defending kurkjan. I honestly don't recall what you are talking about. Tim is usually a fence-sitter. i am surprised that he'd say something like that. That said, since you have no link or quote I will take it with a grain of salt-no offense -
Hawk swears after all of those "diet Pepsi's" he has before and during the game
-
Well, people are acting like even though he;s been a DH he's had this otherworldly season by DH standards and clearly it's not the greatest ever for a DH. Not surprised that you took an opportunity to slurp your boys though. Is the approval to the SOSH boards still pending?

9-30 Game Thread - Charlotte @ Cleveland
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Heads22's topic in 2005 Season in Review
this bullpen situation is becoming potentially dangerous. We might need a guy to fall on the sword here and go a few innings as his last appearance of the year or we might need to go to guys like Baj just to save a guy like Cliff from going two innings. -
gas can vizcaino's era's have been very very good since May ended, however his whip is suspect which might indicate the era is a fluke over so few innings
-
Frank Thomas juiced? News to me

when did he call the sox a fluke? That doesn't sound like Kurk to me -
With all the media hype surrounding Big Papi, let's take a look at the numbers for htis year against the 2 DH's from 2000. You might be surprised Ortiz 298/394/605 47 homers, 146 ribbies, 117 runs, and 122 K's Giambi 333/476/647 43 homers, 137 ribbies, 108 runs, and 96 K's Thomas 328/436/625 43 homers, 142 ribbies, 115 runs, and 94 K's Clearly, to me, the 2000 Dh's had better numbers. In conclusion, in case any yahoo tries to tell you that Ortiz has had a historic season-it's hyperbole because The Big Hurt and Jason Giambi were better just 5 years ago

One VERY unfortunate thing about the close finish is that we didn't get to see enough of Borchard or Anderson. It would have been nice to see 40 ab's this month from them. For the purposes of next year or for trade purposes in the offseason

I need this explained to me: If the BoSawx and Cleveland both take two out of three this weekend-we have a three way tie. How do the logisitics of time workout? Is it division game on Monday, Wildcard on Tuesday? What does this do to the Tuesday scheduled games? Would we be bumped back to Wednesday evening then? Its sounds like a 3-way tie thrwos a monkeywrench into the schedule unlike a one game playoff on Monday
